I see the main city is still Nefroburg...and I see Atlus is using new characters instead of Vanilla and Connie...no fair...I really want to know more about Vanilla`s history...the only character I recognize in this trailer is Basil...I wonder if this new character can still play all the instrument like Vanilla did...? I miss Vanilla...I hope Atlus lets you meet with Vanilla and Connie and can switch characters with Vanilla in this sequel...or at least in the new game+...

From what I read, it was intended to be on the PS2 but, because of some issues from the previous game, I think the PS3 was more suitable to handle the game in its best form.

and yet this is not the final result. They are still working hard on the game. Their engine for PS3 is still in development. Hence why this company is a small one. We haven't seen any new screenshots or gameplay because this was still running on a PS2 engine back then when they decided to move to PS3. This game is going to be expensive for them but once they have the engine ready their next project will be cheaper. Level 5's WKC2 is going to be cheaper than the first WKC.

I never heard of Steambot Chronicles until a few weeks ago. Now, among my ~50 PS2 games it's easily in the top5. Really enjoyed it and really want to play the sequel.

But there seem to be very little information about the sequel available. Can't find any previews or anything since late 2007, really hope they haven't dropped the development of the game.

@burkmat Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, especially since I had avidly followed this series since I read about the first game, but following the tsunami and nuclear meltdown in Japan the company had officially called a stop on the game. It's a shame too; there were some flaws in the first game that kept it from being truly great but it was a wonderful game that was endlessly fun playing. I was super stoked for the second game. I hope they try again when things get stable. :(

Buy the PS3 then. PS3 slim is going to be cheap enough for you unless you can't spend $299 on a gaming console. It cost them $240 to manufacture PS3 slim. And $380 for the current 80GB sku due to retailer discounting. And this game is not even finished. They are struggling with the engine for PS3 at the moment. This trailer you see is not the final result it's running on the PS2 engine.

Somehow i feel that the story for this could be the prequel to the first original Steambot Chronicles. Do you guys ever remember about Chicory, Dandelion's deceased brother; they were both poor and they both started the globetrotters. Chicory could look similer to Vanilla in Connie's way and the girl could just be the younger version of Connie in this game.

I agree, but Connie shows up outside the bar in...was it this trailer or the other one? She's a separate character, I believe. And because the lead's design changed (she used to be blonde) I don't think they had that in mind, unless they changed her because of changing the story, which is less likely.

Don't be. It's not as great as most people say it is. Trust me, I own one. But man, beautiful. Just beautiful. I LOVED the first one, and I can't wait for the second. I am hoping it becomes a multiplatform release. I'm guessing Vanilla's nowhere in it though. I'm guessing the Steambot Chronicles series is going to be like Final Fantasy or EarthBound, where in a sense it is a sequel, but only the general scenario and a few other miscelaneous elements carry over.
