How to Make a Potato Camera

  • VERY COOL. I WAS THINKING ABOUT BUYING A BATTERY JUMPER, BUT NOT I AM JUST GOING TO CARRY A BAG OF POTATOES , SOME WIRE AND NAILS. AND MAYBE BY THE TIME I GET HOME, THE POTATOES WILL BE READY

  • packet of 10 crocodile clips $3

    cheap clock $ 5

    freakish looking battery, PRICELESS!

  • thats not a lead thats just an ordinary clip connector you moron

  • @apocalypse5656 Clearly, you are a fanaticist for accurate names. Google leads (electronics) and you will find ones with clips.

  • Tom Howard: Do you know anything about clocks, mr. McNaughton?

Harry McNaughton: Clocks? Oh rather, yes. We have the cutest potato clock at our house.

Tom Howard: Well maybe... [taken aback] you have a eh a potato clock??

Harry McNaughton: Every morning it wakes us a potato clock.

  • thanks for the making this video.it really helped me

  • you dont need to cut them in half !

  • what if its double a could it still work im doing a science fair project

  • i had one of these but it was the alarm clock version.the only trouble with it was it kept waking me up atato-clock

  • o nice thnx for the directions you are a very smart fellow

  • I HAD A CLOCK LIKE THAT 1 YEAR AGO!!!

  • I hope it works with radios... that's me science project.

  • u mother trucker its doesnt work

  • @MaplePreview Why don't you ask the intelligent people who did it correctly. Maybe they can get you on the right track.

  • So what if you have a double AA clock would you need 4-6 patatoes?

  • I couldn't keep track of what happened after 8:20, what is the yellow, green and black wire and what did it do to help? MSG!

  • @poopsiclesss the color of the wire doesn't matter. All you have to do is make sure you get the connections between the copper wire and the galvinized zinc nails right

  • where could i get a AAA battery powered clock radio shack?

  • wow i can't wait to make one :D

  • I have a water powered clock.

  • I AM DOIN A SCIENCE PROJEST AND I DONT KNOW WHERE TO GET THE LEADS!hELP!

  • Radio shack

  • THANKS

  • @tomtomthepieguy homedepo,lowes,radioshack thers just a few suggestions

  • ever clock should be powered by potatoes lol

  • YA HAHAHHAHAH

  • get a life who gives a rats ass

  • seriously

  • TheTimmayProductions why dont u make a video , and i will be willing to see what can do mr.all knowing .?Since u think u know everthing. huh.. do something to respond this video. otherwise, shut ur ass u fucker..

  • u r such a dumbass it's zinc nails not sinc nails, also u say, "in this video I manage to power a clock with nothing but two potatos." FALSE!!! u used zinc nails wire and a clock stupid

  • can we use a penny instead of copper wire?

  • I honestly don't know. But please feel free to experiment with different things and let me know the outcome

  • @Rodecpt0 oh k ill try if it does ill tell u

  • @Rodecpt0 it works with a penny

  • would it work on an analogue clock?

  • Unfortunately in my experience I have found that this project only works on clocks that run on a single AAA battery.

  • ok thank you.

  • that sucks

  • wait. . .does it HAVE to be triple A batteried powered? cuz I'm using my alarm clock

  • u can try to use it but I am saying it HAS to be a single triple A battery powered lcd digital clock

if u dont meet the requirement u have a big chance of failing.

    good luck

  • Um, can we use bare wire instead of leads?

  • yes but sometimes it doesn't work the same. but If you use very good conducting bare wire it should work. However, those leads that I used which you can buy at Radio Shack is guaranteed to work for this project.

  • "What the deuce is it to me?" he interrupted impatiently: "you say that we go round the sun. If we went round the moon it would not make a pennyworth of difference to me or to my work." Sherlock Holmes "A Study in Scarlet"

  • when u said,"Coper goes to sink" do u rlly mean"Coper goes to Galvinize"?

  • Yes

  • Sooooo... I have to buy potatoes instead of batteries. Science is such a waste of time and brain power.

  • Well first of all o wise one, you don't buy the potatoes in a macgyver situation u just happen to have them. Secondly u are the only one I have ever come across who claims that science has nothing to do with the production of batteries. You are truely intelligent.

  • No, its a good science fair project!

  • i wonder if this would for a hydrogen battery...

  • check out 6:18 ! it's a commen habbit to use red wire for plus and black for minus (ground)

  • cool! now i got an idea for my science project

  • good luck

  • cool

  • great vid man now im gunna make a 100 on this project ill let u kno how i do

    thx for the vid!

  • Thanks guys for the good comments. I hope you all get an A+ if you are doing this for a project. Also I've never tried it myself but theoretically other vegetables should work as well using the same process. Good luck!

  • Ya, I'm using it for a science fair poject.

  • do u think instead of a potato u can use sweet potatos, tomatos, and eggplants plz answer soon great vid

  • You don't cut the potatoes in half. I checked every source of a potato clock and it never said any thing about cutting it in half. So you are wrong. That is why it's not working.

  • it didnt work. help please?

  • Let me know what steps you took and the type of clock you used. I specifically said to use an led digital clock. Yes it must be digital and it must use only one triple A battery. An analog clock will not work.

  • i did everything you sed to do and i used a Digital clock that i got from radioshack that takes one double-A battery. i did everything u sed... well anyway its ok i completed what i needed to do (even though it didnt work xD)

  • Aha! I seemed to have identified your problem. Assuming you followed my directions precisely insofar as setting up the potatoes I specifically said a

TRIPLE A clock not DOUBLE A see the difference in power is great. get youself a clock that uses one triple A battery and it should work.

  • thats what i meant to type-- sry! i meant triple A. i used a tripple A and it still didnt work ^_^

  • Why will an analog clock not work?

  • potato KILLER ha just joking

  • wow this is pretty cool man! guess who dis is....and dude i need to buy u a better knife

  • Thanks for the comment Golden. The reason I use a swiss knife is because MacGyver used one in his shows. Kinda like his trademark.

  • This is MacGyver and I aprove of this video

  • You need to many materials. You would more likely have a battery than 2 galvanized nails, cooper wires, and leads.

If you could get rid of the nails and the copper, you might have something interesting.

  • without the necessary electrodes, you would not be able to draw any power. However, instead of the ones I used, you could just theoretically jam the leads into the potatoes and see if that works. Now don't tell me u don't need wires cause that just wouldn't be possible.

  • robert...this is so lame...and retarted...just buy some fukin batteries....y u need stupid potatoes man?

  • Jackson..."your comment is so lame and retarted." Its obviously not about the electricity. so I dont care about "F"reakinging batteries. The point is to improvise in that kind of situation where u don't have batteries.
