The no talking recommendation was added his 3rd trip to the world renowned Vanderbilt Voice Clinic in Nashville after he had finished the last track on Heart Songs and his chords were so incredibly damaged and profusely bleeding, it was thought he would NEVER sing again, little own be able to hit his former range.
Knowing this, all persons in control of his career kept on pushing for dates AND not to mention his next release: Heart Songs. Which in my opinion was put together simply so as to get the wolves off his back and follow the Drs advice: No singing and no talking.
People on the inside were fully aware that Billy was having trouble LOTS OF TROUBLE. Later in the year, around October/November he began not only having pain when forcing certain notes but he began spitting blood. His vocal chords were BLEEDING.
One such lip-sync event is when he sings "Crying". During the making of that video, he was well into his 13th year and unable to achieve the vocal range that came both comfortably and naturally only 12 months before, heck even 6 months before that. Most people did not know that they literally sang his vocal chords dry.
Well you can usually tell someone is lip-syncing when their lips don't match the words. Next clue is when the audio you hear is an EXACT MATCH to its studio version. Also, shortly after he turned 13 years, One voice was lowered 1/4 key because he couldn't hit the c range he normally did with EASE!
Anyone that knows anything about the recording industry, knew that at the moment Billy or anyone else noticed that his voice was lowering, studio back-ups would have been made while he was still suitable able to reach his C range. There were lots of studio tapes made that the public won't ever have access too because SONY owns them
i have noticed watching his performances...he grabs his right ear lobe...on the video of him performing on the early show...he does the same thing....around the same time... :D
How old were you? That would have been awesome you were lucky! Unfortunately I am living in the wrong time frame so I was only about four when he did this performance coz i'm 13 now but I wish I could have seen him perform in real life

i think he is really singing because i have the cd and have been listening to it 24 7 nothing else and i am a professional singer one of the top at my school so i can tell and if he wasnt on that part you would be able to tell

no he's not, you can hear breath intakes and you can hear places where its different from the cd, how he sings certain notes, at 2:16 for example and the end, plus there's a chorus singing along with him. I think the volume on the mike is extremely high, not only that but stadiums are reaaally echoy so it amplifies the sound it also thins it out too and muffles it. Billy's voice is naturally in key so id think he'd have any problem with intonation, if he did then its muffled out.
In the PA world we call it "Pre-over¨ the voice is recorded live with the stage speakers off and no audience, the effects are sequenced to trigger off to the peak notes sang by the performer, it sounds live but it allows for a much wide and thicker-fuller sound than true live singing in such a monster stadium where it´s impossible to overcome the technological challenges it poses. Neither Jessica simpson nor Billy gilman were singing 100% live.
We really can´t be sure of what the ingeneers did here, they might as well have a slight delay between video and sound and that´s why it looks like their lips move different than what it´s being heard. it happens a lot on big performances where the video is a bit behind the sound due to processing.
hmm yeh he cant do the same notes as he used to but we must remember from the age he started to sing and singing till now we must remember his still singing from his hart most of the times ppl get the fourtune and that kind of things into their head.
No, that ear pull is for his mom. He makes sure to know when the camera is actually on him and then does it - like the old Carol Burnett. Ooops. Dating myself.
i guess his used to it or mb he has you know a bit of low confidence or mb he fells batter if he does a lot of exsplentaions i think even billy would have a hard time exsplaining that right now :P
