Fortunately a few weeks after i made this video i got a new camera so instead of .AVI files its another file type which seams to work fine unless there are to many tracks at one time. (when it gets to a point with 4+ things going on it gets skippy but its workable)
how much RAM do you have? you probaly dont have too much because sony vegas pro 9 nedds at least 1 gig of RAM. i could also be ur OS, procceser, or anything else.
If by 'quickly' you mean drag through the timeline for ages to give you a free 2 second playback, then sure, Shift+B works just fine. 2 Seconds at a time.
same problem, but it's almost completely random. I've used the same file on two different days and on the first day, it was incredibly slow and choppy. But several days later the EXACT same file worked perfectly...so now im even more confused
can you please help, i have got videos of of youtube and i want to put them onto vegas every time i try to it just turns them into audio files, please somebody help????
somewhere above you preview screen is a res quality pull down tab try it at preview half while editing but render in best full. this may or may not be the problem
Same problem , im using vegas pro 9 64bit, the computer is very fast , but vegas video playback is fucking slow , vegas pro 8 playback is crystal clear and fast,
ya im the person that made this video, what type of files do you try with it, because with me AVI files wont work, but everything else i have tried does work
yeah this happened with me in windows movie maker. i didnt figure out how to fix it but every time i played it back again it starts to show more frames

highlight the clip and press shift b and it will kinda render quickly and then it should play through

Did you try to put the preview on draft?
Also you can do this
1_ control + alt + delete
2_on processes find Sony Vegas 9
3_right click on it and change priority on high
4_ ignore the warning message and click ok
it should give you a little bit faster preview and also faster render
good luck
