You know what Andy. One day when I have 50 million dollars in the bank. I'm gonna buy a huge extension to my house, then buy one of everything inside PGS because everytime I hear you play, the sound of the guitar and pedals and everythign else you use, sound amazing.
It's not so much the tuners in their tuning ability (i.e. gear ratio) that's helpful, but their staggered posts that eliminate the need for a string tree, which is just another point of tension on the string to hamper its movement.
Andy, you forgot to play a BuzzCocks song! Oh, wait, that's a bassman.....you only play BuzzCox through vox amps and effectrode pedals.....sorry for the misunderstanding.
I hoped that he plays with the Fender Hot Rod deluxe at the left side- because I own this ampand I try to get the same tone with my Strat- but I fail :(((((...
@AirMike61 Can you tell me what kind of microphone you use to record from the amp? that is a great sound. I Have a reale vintage 65 super reverb and everytime that i record it doesn't sound the way it sound live!!
It would be amazing if you guys could do this without the distressed finish. Not that it doesn't look cool, but I'd rather play my guitars for a lifetime and have it look like that. Awesome tone though!
definitely a relief to see a guitar/gear reviewer that's not just a "crank it to 11 and shred" kind of guy. While I've got nothing against the shred heads out there, you learn alot more about the guitar hearing it clean, overdriven, and played various ways than just the straight forward distort and shred.
it annoys me how pgs focuses mainly on fender, and i know they have a few gibson demos but overall about 95% of their videos are fender based, they do good reveiws but the reason i prefer guitar world is because they are more diverse in their guitar ranges ie fender, prs, washburn, epiphone
@leddeath80 People do not realize that we are actually a pretty small company. We only carry three guitar lines, and those are all that you will see us demo. We use a Les Paul in a good portion of our pedal videos thoug. Guitar World get's paid to make videos for whatever manufacturer approaches them. How many pedal videos does Guitar World do? They do their thing, we do ours.
wow, that tremolo is unbelievable - stays in tune amazingly. Although I think a good setup is a major key to keeping the trem in tune... do the tuners really make that much of a difference?
Is there a paticular reason that you test fender strats with Fender amps? I love to see you introduce a Fender Guitar or G&L Guitar using a Marshall Vintage Modern or maybe a Mesa Boogie. To truely show the Fender Strats versatily
Andy almost always uses Fender amps into his demos... I think they're both good sounding and neutral. Maybe a Marshall or a Mesa Boogie amp would be too much invasive.
they have dadario strings ! the best strings ever \m/ u can see that when they show the back of the bridge the colours of the string balls are the ones dadario uses :P
not the biggest fender fan due to a few i have had that had really let me down but these custom shop models have amazing tone i would love to have one. Andy nice SRV at the begining.
These pickups really sound like a very good strat, I bet you could do a good SRV impersonation with a TS pedal and some heavier gauges. Great playing too...
And it's most likely going to be bought by some high-class collector who will just put it in some type of casing and never play it.
What I like a lot about Fenders though is, over the years pretty much they key components stayed the same. While Gibson released the worst idea to ever hit guitars--Tone chambers. Fender never did, swamp ash body, tummy cut, ect. So that's one thing I like a lot
But I like a more beefy tone in my guitars, so ...
you're right about the high class collector.i have a friend who has a rosewood telecaster and two signatures strat, and he never touch them as he prefers ibanez! damn
agreed. great guitar and a really crappy finish/degraded style. it seems that a true guitarist would want to "break" his own guitar in through time and use. so much tone inside, but it reads "poser" on the outside IMO.
Sounds like a really nice strat. Of course, I can't afford it...but oh well. Andy's playing was exceptionally tasteful in this vid as well. On a random note, I notice that during demos of trem equipped guitars, he almost always takes the arm off until he's actually demoing the tremolo.
