I have Comcast in Springfield, Massachusetts and they use General Instruments/Motorola receivers and I have very few problems with them. It is unusual for Comcast to use Scientific Atlanta/Cisco receivers. In Maine where my Grandma lives Time Warner Cable uses the SA/Cisco boxes and I prefer the GI/Motorola boxes that Comcast uses. Time Warner mostly uses the SA/Cisco and Comcast mostly uses the GI/Motorola boxes.
been through the same thing this past month! now they gave me a brand new dch6412 and have not had any trouble.

I'm having problems with my Motorola box --- keeps resetting, like yours. Comcast says "a technician has to look at it". B*ll.
