I have to give this Pony Car credit. When you say Mustang and Bathurst in the same sentence my hands start sweating. I have in car vids of the present-day Holdens and Fords running the big engines on this course. 295K's on the downhill straight. I half expected to see this Mustang sawing away at the wheel all the way down the twisty hill. Not so. I can only assume the driver is an Aussie! Americans can't drive Bathurst worth a damn. - Californian
what an incredible race track....top 5 in the world, in my opinion, with the likes of Nurburgring, Laguna Seca, Le Mans, and Monaco....very special places...
This is awesome stuff brother, we used to run in a vintage class here in the states..'65 vette, I watch your V-8 Supercars in the Nascar off season, you guys are good. Check out our car..."in car camera auto racing" here on youtube, thanx for sharing, love that music!
I bought the car with the engine installed and running. I don't have much info on the build beyond knowing the parts that were used. After this summer, I plan a freshening and possibly adding some Webers, stainless headers, MSD ignition, etc. Thank you for the tips on the shortblock prep...
Ford Mexican block (302) with a Ford 302 crank reground as a 289. The 302 crank is stronger than the 289. 2 bolt mains with a girdle. Crower rods, JE forged pistons. World Products Heads unported (not allowed) AP triple plate clutch, roller cam and rockers.... anything else?
Thank you for the explanation. Any special procedures during assembly, balancing, etc.? I have a '67 HiPo 289 block, HiPo caps, forged Boss 302 crank, Boss rods and 351W heads...doesn't rev past 6000 too well though. I've never opened it up though...considering a freshening at some point.
Yeah, It's all crack tested and balanced. Lots of attention to detail on the build. Making sure nothing touches. With the amount of lift we get you're really at the limit of clearances so we relieve lots of things. Not revving past 6K could be fuel, cam or valve springs.

All I can say is that when I listen to this beast I wonder; "why would anyone want to drive a ricer?"
And I am a Holden man! Great ride mate!

Hi,
It's a 289 with quad Webber 48IDA's. The microphone was under the bonnet - hence the induction noise. It's a Group Nb car

Could you please expand on the engine build? 289 block? Girdle or 4 bolt conversion? Thanks
