It's a tube pre-amp. I've played tons of hybrid amps like that - correctly designed, you can get the best of both worlds - correctly designed you get the squash of a full valve amp, but with the reliability of solid-state. Plus you'll get much better cleans. Thumbs up for the hybrid approach from me.
@jeezuschryst nothing wrong with that if it's well designed. having said that, it is safe to assume most people who are into leslie type sounds are probably going for a proper vintage sort of thing where a solid state power amp isn't really the best choice in the eyes of most people that this would will appeal to... but i think they also do an extension cab you can run a full tube amp into if you want - probably cheaper than the combo version, too.
@jeezuschryst whats so bad about solid state, yeah it might not have that specific "tube tone" but thats not neccessarly a bad thing and some of the bonuses of solid state is no maintenance and they can still sound pretty good
@jeezuschryst i dont know what youve been playing on but ive played a few good solid state amps like a marshall , rogue, peavey, and vox all have good sounding solid state amps
@jeezuschryst Depends what your going for. My marshall solid state has a nice overdrive for practice and quiet playing but i would never waste money on a solid state for the loud stuff.
Yeah, I'd be sold if it let me plug my amp into it and I could treat just as a cab that needs to be plugged in. I'm sure when the amps in front of you the rotating effect sounds amazing, But that amp itself just doesn't sound too impressive at all.
own a g37. most expensive thing I ever bought. totally worth it, even though my horn rattles for some reason. I would reccomend a g27 so you can push whatever you want through it in the long run; I just got this cause I could not afford both.
How does this hold up against the Neo Ventilator? - which simulates a Leslie 122cabinet, and from hearing early guitar samples, it seems to deliver the goods and is very promising - it also fits in the palm of my hand.
Did anyone catch his redudant stupid comment near the end. It was so generic and ridiculous. He says (paraphrased) "it's got a tube pre amp for.. Ummm.. Errrr .. Rock and roll tone and a solid state power amp for.. Ummm...mmm...errr... solid tone"! If anything it's better to have power amp tubes and a solid state pre amp. It's the same weight and convenience except that power amp tubes (in general) sound better than pre amp tubes.
I don't know, I thought it was the other way 'round. I don't care all that much though, because I wouldn't spend another dime on solid state equipment anyway. Thanks for pointing that out. I would have missed it.
Redundant is the wrong word by the way. As much as it would sound great as another meaning for ignorantly stupid, it means something else.
how do you know? are you one of the engineers that work at leslie and have a degree in audio engineering? didn't think so. and don't tell me you do, because then you wouldn't be as immature to make assholefuckerjackass as your username.
who would spend $1000 on this peice of shit when you can find a cheap old organ that has an "Internal Leslie", rip the unit out of the organ and just build a box for the goddamned thing? thats what I did and I will post the video soon explaining how to do this, for next to nothing money- wize. Just go to my channel and watch!
Wouldn't it make more sense to rebuild the organ and get an external Leslie cab? I mean I don't know, but considering they haven't made decent organs since the 60's (70's?) I wouldn't be too quick to trash a good one.
@Bananananananananify Calm down :-). Leslie speakers for organs are seperate units, because at least the vintage ones have a weight of around 160 pounds and thats just the cabinet itself not counting the preamp. The organs are mostly just as bulky. The portable ones weigh about half as much as a vintage leslie. Home use organs with built in speakers mostly feature a flanger not a true leslie, so they should be quite safe.
Would some one please help! I'm an inventor of a new bold class of Leslie designs. I'm an inventor seeking contact with top level musicians. A Non Disclosure Agreement will have to be signed to see the concept. My Doppler concept makes the present Leslie designs look like "tinker toys". This concept will have a visually stunning stage presence. Contact Jack Jones, go to Geobat....com for contact info and background info.
I'm sorry, but honestly what do you think the spinning achieves? Did you ever stop and think about what the spinning actually does and why it is there?
@CHICKMAGNET66666 Except that the pedal does not replicate the entire effect of the speaker. It will only replicate the wavery sound of the leslie, but it will not replicate the ultra rich sound it produces due to the fact the the entire room is filled sound by a true leslie, a pedal is still going to an amp with a standard driver which shoots in one direction. Thats the difference between a standard speaker and leslie speaker, leslie will fill up space much better then any standard amp.
@CHICKMAGNET66666 If you see a hammond b3 organ chances are there is a leslie speaker with it. Listen to that and you will know why hammonds sound best thru a leslie.
What I really wanna hear before I buy this is a perfect reproduction of Harrison's sound on The End, Badge, and It don't Come Easy, and Badfinger's No Matter what. Show THAT, not all this stuff, and you've sold me. Only I don't want the amp. Just give me a raw input with padding perhaps. I have yet to hear any leslie guitar cab mfgr get this demo right on.
This is a Cool Amp. Its hard to asses this Survivor Guy's demo cuz the sound quality is jus OK. Personally have a 1965 Lesie 147 completely original, I can honestly say without hesitation, that I can approximate the tone on Badfingers NO MATTER WHAT and Toad the Wet Sprocket ALL I WaNT (solo at the Break and Thick Outro vibrato ) by using a a Vintage TuBe Screamer infront of the Chrome Leslie PREAMP Pedal. With Three (3) Tone Knobs on the TS9 I was able to Dial-IN the tone...almost dead-On.
jtomrx, search "maestro stage phaser" and check the vid by 211ampsJG for a terrific "No Matter What" approximation, albeit brief. Who'd-a-thunk-it? I'm gettin' one-
definetly can be used for guitar, it will probably sound a little different from a regular one. also makes it a little bit more difficult to hook up to a hammond that has a leslie output, but if you have a console hammond you might as well get a 122 to go with it.
I have a 1969 Leslie 122. I use the Trek II preamp..Its heavy as hell and a pain in the butt to move...but I love it, and nothing comes close to sounding like it.

Very curious. Looking to get one of these if I can get the 'Badge', 'It Don't Come Easy' (Ringo/Harrison) type sound. These are the tones that I find the coolest. : )
I have to admit I'm sceptical about this model of Leslie amplifier/cabinet. It doesn't sound "right" versus a guitar going through a classic Leslie.
I suspect that the fact that a typical Leslie (such as a 122 or 147) is not voiced for guitar or vocal is one of the main reasons putting a guitar through those cabinets sounds so awesome to my ears. It's great that the brake will always stop the speakers in the same position (facing out) but I think Leslie missed the point with altering those aspects of their design that I previously mentioned.
All they needed to do was make it with a guitar input rather than the funky organ cable connector, and up the output to 100 Watts versus 40 Watts.
