I think they are kinda incomparable...The Viper- Symbol of raw power, and thats what you get raw power. Vette- less power more controllable, easier to drive and a lot cheaper. So its more about the driver.

Also, some guys over on the corvette forum have posted 1/4 mile times of 10.7 stock trim so no, not faster in my mind. Tests are only as good as the people driving them and until the ACR can post a faster time on the Nurburgring, ZR1 is still the champ. Out of all the info I have read; on paper there is no clear winner unless you like features the ZR1 does have..

Your opinion of how a vette is built is just that, an opinionand a wrong one at that. A base C6 is not a Cadillac. The base has a softer suspension then the Z51/Z06/ZR1 but it can still perform. Sorry but the viper is still harder to drive fast on the track compared to the vette. THe SRT 10 is slower than a Z06 and The ZR1 beat the ACR nurburgring time with a 7:19.. Facts..
@jestes2323 Hey bro! The 2008 srt10 had a faster 1/4 mile than both the z06 and zr1. Fastest documented 1/4 from zr1 was 11.2 and the fastest documented 1/4 from the viper is 10.9. The older zr1 posted a 7.26 at nurburgring and the older acr posted a 7.22. The newer zr1 posted 7.19 and when the new viper comes out it will post probably a 7.15. When you compare apples to apples, the viper is the winner. Loooong history of it. Both are amazing cars! I want to own one of each someday. No money tho.
@dculp39231 They've discontinued the Viper yes, but this is the second time they've done that. And just like last time they are bringing it back for 2013. Its going to be revealed in Detroit (i think) summer of 2012. Its going to have over 700 horsepower and actually giving it traction control. finally. haha!
I don't know about that one. Just different approaches really. Take all of those creature comforts out of the ZR1 and put a big wing like the Viper and you would probably see very similar cars. Hell, they even look the same if you chop the very front and back off of each. LeMans in the late 90's was full of Vipers whooping Corvettes and LeMans in the early/mid 2000's was full of Corvettes whooping Vipers. They're so even, it pretty much comes down to which model is newer any more.

@daltonauto the fastest documented time from a stock ZR1 is 11:2. The 10:7 you saw wasn't stock. Unless things have changed. I'm constantly finding out new and improved things with the Viper and Corvette. But there are Vipers and Corvettes (non-stock) that have done 6 and 7 second 1/4 mile runs. Two amazing cars!
@braddnichols The 10.7 1/4 time for a ZR1 is legit. There's even a video of it. I really doubt it's not a stock car since these cars (Vette and Viper) are pretty much driven stock by Ranger and Furman.

Funny how ever since the Viper came out its always been the car to beat!! And the only way it ever gets beat is with a car that is highly modified or a car with a turbo or a supercharger. A Viper to me looks like something that the devil would drive and the vette looks to normal for the price so its more of a normal 50 yr old driver+ the viper is pure hell in the engine noise.
Yeah the Viper was designed for track racing, the vette was designed for... Well not track racing... And these are almost evenly matched vehicles, so to throw a ZR1 in the mix would be ridiculous plus obviously the vette doesn't handle like the Viper anyways so what good would throwing another 200 horses in it do? -haha it's funny, because if you actually see a Ford GT, Viper SRT10, & Corvette Z06 accelerate from 0-60mph, they look nearly identical..3.4s looks almost identical to 3.6s to the non-dragger population [vast majority].

@braddnichols Bullshit!!! I saw a couple guys fucking around after The Texas Mile last year in a stock Viper and a stock ZR1. They raced 6 times (even switched drivers in the viper) Here were the results: 5 wins to the vette and one draw from a bad start. It would have continued but the cops pulled up on the street behind the bar and issued tickets. I'm not saying the viper isn't blidingly fast. But I saw a real time street race with my own two eyes and the ZR1 beat it convincingly.

@braddnichols What I'm saying is a lot of those printed times are inaccurate. For example, The hopped up factory evos and Nissan GTR both have 60 times in the 3's I have seen people trying that in a real world scenario. Didn't happen, They were in the low 4's. I'm sure a Dodge viper has the times that you're stating. It probably used drag slicks on a groomed track with VHT spray. In the real world with bumps and pot holes etc. The Viper has a harder time hooking up.

The one I saw in the street race was bright green with black racing stripes(pretty car). The Vette was black. Both were brand spanking new. A lot of spectators with money will bring cars like that down to watch the event. They like to show their cars off every night. The ZR1 belonged to this guy's wife. He raced it for her. It was pretty awesome to see.

Actually I own a Viper GTS ACR and I have driven a 2007 Z06.
The Viper drives like a race car, feels like a race car, and looks exotic. Turns heads everywhere I go.
The Z06 is much more refined, smooth, and comfortable. Also very fast.
But the Viper is a better weekend warrior, Z06 you can drive everyday and forget you're in something special.
Not as satisfying to drive as a Viper. The Magazines say the same. Sorry

@braddnichols As you stated, fastest recorded time for a Gen 4 is 10.92 (vert) by Jamie Furman (video proof), and for the ACR it is 11.0. I do believe the mph is higher for the ACR, ironically enough.

ZR1 10.89 in 1/4, viper acr ran a 7:12:13 at ring. there is no doubt the acr is wicked fast, ive never driven one but have driven a couple of srt-10s have to tell you id never own one the street version is bad enough on the street so forget a purpose built race car, and i wouldnt be proud it beat a street car by mere seconds on a seven and a half minute track you want a true comparison run the zr-1 against the srt-10 power and equipment is even,

honestly, when you talk Ford GT, Corvette Z06, & Viper SRT10, the performance of these cars are so incredibly close that it really comes down to the driver skills, not the car itself.
-my Master Sergeant rides/races a 1300cc Hayabusa, & has been for ~30 years [since he was ~7; he started with dirt bikes.] he's lost some races to guys on 750cc/1000cc bikes simply because they're incredible/better riders; same i feel goes for any motor vehicle - the guy/girl with the most skill will win in a race.

@Kiwicarlos74 the zr1 has a fastest quarter mile of 11.2 while the STOCK BASE MODEL viper has a quarter mile of 10.9. The base model viper beats the zr1 AND z06. And go back and check out when John Hennessey took the vette and viper, maxed out both of them, gave them both like 2000 horsepower, and then raced them and the viper won by a long shot. oh by the way, the corvette in this video is a z06 and the viper won.

@braddnichols Bullshit!!! I saw a couple guys fucking around after The Texas Mile last year in a stock Viper and a stock ZR1. They raced 6 times (even switched drivers in the viper) Here were the results: 5 wins to the vette and one draw from a bad start. It would have continued but the cops pulled up on the street behind the bar and issued tickets. I'm not saying the viper isn't blidingly fast. But I saw a real time street race with my own two eyes and the ZR1 beat it convincingly.

But the fastest recorded time for the zr1 quarter mile is an 11.2 and for the viper its 10.9. Of course it was the 2008 8.4 liter. Was this guy racing an 8.3? That could be the deciding factor. But yeah bro, those times are too close to really matter. Supercharged v8 vs a v10 is pretty even

@braddnichols What I'm saying is a lot of those printed times are inaccurate. For example, The hopped up factory evos and Nissan GTR both have 60 times in the 3's I have seen people trying that in a real world scenario. Didn't happen, They were in the low 4's. I'm sure a Dodge viper has the times that you're stating. It probably used drag slicks on a groomed track with VHT spray. In the real world with bumps and pot holes etc. The Viper has a harder time hooking up.

The one I saw in the street race was bright green with black racing stripes(pretty car). The Vette was black. Both were brand spanking new. A lot of spectators with money will bring cars like that down to watch the event. They like to show their cars off every night. The ZR1 belonged to this guy's wife. He raced it for her. It was pretty awesome to see.

Its going to have better traction and stability control and estimated 725 horsepower. This has been the 2nd time Dodge has come out with "last edition" Vipers. Its a marketing scam. I thought I was a good driver but a friend let me drive his viper and I went out the way in the firs turn, fortunately it was an open area and I didn't hit the car but that thaught me that drivin' a viper is harder than it seems, but what an experience!!!! you feel like you're riding a very mad bull!!!!!!

lol,cant we all just get along.I own a 09 srt10 & my brother just sold me his 08 vette.first let me say this,both bad ass cars.the viper feels way faster but you simply cant beet the corvettes comfort and interior features. the viper is more gripy around corners take off & is a little bit harder to drive on the track because of the fact the tires break loose as soon as the pedal hits the floor. So,heres my verdict.Corvette=a good daily driver that has $.Viper=if you wanna feel like god on wheels
