in the last vid you where asking for feminine character so i don't know if you read comics but i'll sugest you after all. A good feminine character would be Ash from the comic misfile(you should read it if you haven't it's an webcomic so not much problems reading exceptig the headache, by the way is a great comic)
I still can't break 1 star (150cc) or 2 stars (50cc and 100cc). I just wish there was a cheat to turn off JUST the items for everyone (including the player) in Grand Prix mode. Then I can race properly... Just rely on your drifting, boosting and slipstreaming skills alone. Much more fun.
That would be interesting, but I think the reason Nintendo ramped up the cheating so much in this game is so you'd spend more time playing it than if you could clear everything all the time. The game wants you to succeed, but it also wants you to play with it a bunch before it lets you do that.
Actually, I discovered WHY the Grand Prix mode is so cheap, and managed to score a 3 star and a few 2 star rankings yesterday. If you want to know more, PM me! It was so obvious that I couldn't believe it. XD
I can get 2-Star rankings consistently now, at least when the computer players don't constantly barrage me with stuff. Though it looks like you learned quickly.
I think if the wheel had a base for it to sit on (like the Sega Saturn one), I would probably do much better with it. Funnily enough, I found using the Remote ALONE was a bit easier (turning was sharper), but still not as sharp as analog.
Well, you don't control the Wii Wheel like you would a regular steering wheel. I noticed a lot of people try that and can't get used to it that way. It has no base because the game was programmed that way.
The computer players don't rubber-band like they did in Mario Kart 64, but they cheat via items. The computer players are programmed to attack only you, and when they pass ahead, they then protect the folks in the lead.
Mmmm... nah. I found Mario Kart: Double Dash's AI to be a bit more forgiving. And to be honest, I never found a problem with the AI in Mario Kart 64. I think it's just the items. The POW Block and Spiny Shell are the most broken.
Plus the fact that getting a POW or Spiny Shell CAN happen from either 5th place onwards (happened to me), and there are more racers on the track, equals chances for the item to appear.
What Nintendo don't realise is that the Mario Kart series is very easy to learn and master, so all of the overpowered items for "newbies" is pointless. AS for the AI, I think they overdid. I mean I haven't heard complaints of Mario Kart being TOO easy...
The computer players in this game ARE unforgiving. Never said that they weren't. Once they have you in their clutches, they won't let go. (By the way, rubber-banding is when computer players somehow catch up to you and go faster than you when you're ahead, then slow down when they pass you to look like they're not cheating.)
I never said you said they weren't (hope you understood that) I meant that the AI here is worst than any other Mario Kart. I know what rubber-banding is, and never really encountered it here. The item-spamming is what really bothered me. THAT'S where the cheating is.
Oh, okay. You know what rubber-banding is. Sorry about that then.
Someone on GameFAQs compiled a rather long list of ways the computer cheats in this game, and it turns out that every last one is item-related. A few:
When you use a Mushroom, Star, or anything else to get a boost, the other racers and moving obstacles will speed up too.
After the 1st lap, when a Green Shell bounces off a wall, it'll aim for you.
Oh, yeah. I had that yesterday, multiple times. In fact I unlocked Baby Luigi, Funky Kong and Bowser Jr. yesterday and from since I started playing as Funky Kong in the Offroadster (is that the right name? I forget), rubber-banding got a whole lot worse.
I don't know HOW people get 3 star ranking. I must have a faulty copy or something as the game just won't let me win without barraging me with Spiny Shells, Lightning and POWs. I can get 1st in all races and not even fall off too...
They play the game a whole lot, that's how. Every now and then, it seems like the computer players go easy on you and leave you alone for a while. Some more ways they cheat that I recall:
Holding an item behind you, such as a Banana, increases the chances you'll get hit with a Blue Shell, POW Block, or Lightning Bolt.
The computer is programmed to use Lightnings and POW Blocks as you're going off jumps.
They bunch up, causing you to lose many positions by getting hit with anything.
I just played earlier and found that the game seems to get really bad when you first start a cup. For example, I'm trying to get stars for all the retro cups. I do 150cc Leaf Cup and at the very start, the CPU gets a Mega Mushroom and flattens me WITHOUT the warning, then a Bullet Bill (again no warning) and while I'm trying to recover, I get smacked by a Star. Sometimes the game gives me crap "powerful" items near the back too (like Triple Mushrooms ALL the damn time)...
However I did get a lucky break and managed to escape a Spiny Shell. All you need is a mushroom. You notice when it's about to hit you, it sorta goes up and then slams you? Well, time it right when it's falling onto you and boost with the Mushroom. The shell will still explode and take out anyone behind you. It also made the game think I was falling behind, so the CPU racers left me alone for the rest of the race. Doesn't help much if you're always in 1st place though...
When you're flattened or otherwise hit with something that isn't a Green Shell without a warning, it means they turned it on when they were right behind you and hit you before the warning appears. Computer players can generate any item they want whenever they want.
By the way, Triple Mushrooms are the most common item below 3rd place. (I already know about the Blue Shell evasion trick, and I've seen it happen, but I've never been able to do it myself.)
... I have to admit though, I REALLY admire Wii Wheel users. I never realised how difficult it was to get to grips with. For me it was just uncomfortable that it hurt a little just trying to remember to hold the wheel straight. My method is Wii Remote and Nunchuk. I'm so used to it that I doubt I could use any other controller again. I will practice with the wheel, but I don't think I would use it much for online play much due to the half-assed "experts" online at the moment.
Well, I didn't have much fun yesterday (except in Time Trial). The AI in this Mario Kart is probably the cheapest yet. I had to restart Mushroom Cup 150cc around 8 times before the game would actually let me get first place in Toad's Factory. It loves to hit me with a Spiny Shell just at the very end and everyone flies past you. From 1st to 12th, just like that! The game just spams Lightning, Spiny Shells, Bloopers and Pow Blocks. I rarely saw the other items unless I fell behind...
O-K, the Wii Wheel is how you say, "pwning" me. I can't even drift well! I may end up giving up on it (yes, I know I was determined, but I never realised the wheel's turning would be SO sluggish!). Apparently the Gamecube controller is good, but I'll probably stay with the Remote and Nunchuk. I mean, when you suck at Luigi Circuit in Time Trial, that's usually a sign to change, don'tcha think? :(
Fun is why I play Mario Kart Wii, and I maintain 100% Wii Wheel usage. It was never that difficult for me to learn how to use the Wii Wheel, and the fact that we have 3-star players using the Wii Wheel, as well as a small amount of world records, are proof that there is a method to the madness.
Problem is, I haven't really seen 3 stars AND 100% at the same time. People could be just using the wheel online, but when they originally played for unlocking purposes could've used another control method. The only way you'd know is if they willingly showed you their license. 3 stars is well hard to get. I either get two or one star mostly and that's when I win EVERY race!
In the words of the immortal Mario, "Whee-hee! I got it!" My copy of Mario Kart Wii arrived this morning (GMT)! It's a lot smaller than I expected and it had a tiny rip on the box, but overall, I'm excited! Today I get to practice!
I'm looking forward to my copy of Mario Kart Wii (when it finally arrives from the US/Canada). I've never played through WiFi before. I'm determined to complete the game fully just by using the Wii Wheel ONLY. It'll be tough, but then I thought I would never be able to use the remote and nunchuk either. Now I find I can't use a "normal" controller anymore! XD You'll be seeing this girl gamer online soon! I just can't wait for Rainbow Road!
Still, I'm determined to triple star and completely unlock the game with just the wheel alone. I doubt there are many people out there that have tolerated the Wii Wheel for THAT long without getting frustrated and switching to a different method of control.
Thanks, I'll need it, I guess. Who knows, maybe we can have a race or battle sometime! ^_^ But I won't actually take on people until I've completed the task I've set myself. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to games with unlockables and ranks. One thing I'd like to know though. As soon as you change controls, would the percentage immediately drop or does it have to be a few uses first?
Yes, the moment you start using something other than a Wii Wheel, even if you start the game with the Nunchuk plugged in, it will no longer be at 100%.
Hmmm. I guess I have to start a new game somehow if I want to use a different control system? Man, my copy is taking ages to arrive! It was either this or Brawl! I may get Brawl eventually... I dunno, I never really got into the series though I did own and like both Power Stone games (which are kinda in a Smash Bros. style)... Is Brawl worth getting for a lone player? And can you do close ups of all the characters (for reasons of my own)?
Good luck. I hope it doesn't get lost in the mail. I can't count on the msilmen where I'm at.
As Brawl can now be played online, you can give it a shot to see if it works for you. You should probably rent it first, since it doesn't play anything like a traditional fighting game.
I buy from MovieTyme as I'm in the UK, but have an NTSC console (I've imported for years since the SNES days). Free delivery too (or faster for £1.00)! In fact it's shipped today, so if I'm lucky, I might get it early next week. I'll have plenty of free time to practice at the moment.
I have played SSBM once, but I found it zooms out too much depending on the stage and it can get difficult to see. I guess it's something you just get used to and improve at.
Oh, so you use an NTSC Wii. That would mean you can't easily rent things to try out.
If zooming out in Melee bothered you, it does this to a bit higher of an extent here. I would recommend trying it out before you buy it, but I can't be sure how you could do that. I guess you can watch a lot of videos and see if it's for you.
I would like to get SSBB because I sculpt figures as a hobby, and wanted to do some more detailed ones of all the characters. I suppose I can always look for someone to take some hi-res images for me to work from...
You can see all the detail you need with the trophies or by pausing and letting the camera zoom onto someone. You can even take snapshots when you pause in any mode (except online, where you shouldn't pause anyway) so you can look at their details later.
Thanks for anwsering. (Most people don't reply back) Your a good driver on Mario kart and a good fighter in Super Smash Bros Brawl. I've been watching your videos and hope to see more. :)
No offense taken. I was driving cautiously, as Jefferson was classified as a heavyweight, driving in the kart with the worst handling.
People were getting lapped because this Rainbow Road is a difficult course, and some people have gone online having never played it before or are used to the all-guardrails Mario Kart 64 Rainbow Road.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also noticed the statues change when you use a Mii. Just yesterday on Daisy's Circuit, I saw my mother dancing with my bro-in-law...awkwaaaard. >_>
I always like looking at the posters in Coconut Mall too and trying to find my Miis hidden in the crowd. It's inspired me to make more family Miis! I have yet to go political, however.
In Daisy Circuit, the status here were Ron Stoppable with a friend of my sister, then my roommate last year with his girlfriend. By coincidence, it actually made a pair that makes sense...though they were assigned to Baby Luigi and Baby Daisy.
Considering the large quantity of Hitler Miis out there, it's way too easy for Coconut Mall to become Nazi Propaganda Land, what with all the posters of Adolf and the primary color banners hanging down form the walls.
Thomas Jefferson kart-racing and doing stunts alongside talking mushrooms and dinosaurs is probably no more abstract than the course it took place on. Well, maybe it is.
I may be crazy here, but I LOVE THIS MARIO KART'S RAINBOW ROAD! The fact that it's so hard makes me wanna master the track even more! Mr. Jefferson, you should take some pictures. I guarantee that you won't see anything like it anywhere else.
Do you need to set up the game to say where you're from?

I didn't know the game alerted you when a friend was on! I should start adding people. Maybe then I'd know. lol.
As for the deities, I think Daisy Circuit is just one of those tracks. It's always chaotic when I race there too as is Mushroom Gorge.

Try to imagine them as "WANTED" posters. *snicker*

Was that the Ranbow Road of this game? It looks even more harder than the Super Circuit one!

I happen to think that Rainbow Road is a beautiful course. Although for some reason it reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy.

I may be crazy here, but I LOVE THIS MARIO KART'S RAINBOW ROAD! The fact that it's so hard makes me wanna master the track even more! Mr. Jefferson, you should take some pictures. I guarantee that you won't see anything like it anywhere else.

What should he be taking pictures of? (I like this Rainbow Road, by the way, because of how crazy it is.)

It really isn't necessary. Is there any purpose for it that no other video here has shown?

Rainbow road, it fills my heat with dread every time I see it.

I meant heart, stupid typos.

To me, rainbow road can be confusing at times. I say, they've added alot more to it over so many years.
