That "thing" on the floor was the inners of a three-phase transformer- was probably used to convert incoming 480 or 240 used by the transmitter to 120V for lighting and rack equipment. Would have been nice if you could have identified what station this was. They probably decided to rebuilt in a new location.
Heheh you're right it's very Silent Hill... between all the green mold and the shades of rust and rot the building looks diseased... I saved the vid for set design reference
well no shit... i found one much similar to this tower in my town and came to find out it was used for military purposes.... im not a moron.... just curious... ass.
You sound like a yankee... boy you lucky them crackers down there didn't tie yer ass up and use YOU for target practice! And did you feel like you was bein' watched? yeah boy, what ate them birds was watchin' you! lucky you got yer ass outta there before you and Chris got et too!
If this is near Homestead, it's most likely the tower of the former WCIX-TV (now WFOR, which broadcasts from a different location), which was lost in Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
@cixcell yeah its the Wcix-tv station for sure, can you please film there again and get more footage of the washroom and stuff, im very interested in seeing more of it and im sure by making that second video you would get more views and subscribers, let me know! this is truly a great find!!!
@wescoolya not sure but i dont even know if its still there or if you can get to that building anymore. the pictures and video are from a number of years ago.
i heard you say that it was in the everglades. depending on where you are it may have been an old meteorological site. they used to have those all over the south east US in an attempt to get earlier readings for hurricanes.
My guess is that this site was a remote transmitter site for a radio broadcast station, or possibly a special services station. (Like aeronautical or maritime radio.)
The room with the electrical panels and the vent system was probably an emergency generator room.

Interesting video. The ghosts of Seminole indians sacrifice the birds and leave their skulls to protect the sacred grounds. Ok, not really.
The roofs on transmitting stations here in Texas have cement roofs a lot of the time. It gets cold in the winter, and falling ice... not nice!
