I would be very surprised if they converted another plane to fly without pilots on board. Would you board it without a human upfront? Neither would I!
Yeah - just saw that on the BBC. Nice home made balloon.......wonder what happened to the kid? I say he was never on board and we are dealing with an UNboyed crash.
The facts of this crash are : Air France 296. 26 June 1988. Habsheim, France. 136 people on board. 130 passengers. Captain michel asseline Copilot pierre maziere 4 other crew. 3 killed About 50 injured. watch?v=Ea28bUTUfiM google air france 296 for the full story
Do people really believe that there was no pilot on board when this happened? I guess the Air France pilot who got injured in the crash and was vilified for his errors in this incident is just a figment of our imagination.
A320's fly all over the place today without crashing. The fact that there was a software bug that has now been fixed says nothing to whether or not we should continue to use automation.
the pilot was doing a low level fly by at an air show, the plane's computers registered the altitude of the aircraft as an attempt to land, that's why the engines didn't respond when the pilot took them to full throttle
And yet ANOTHER reason why we shouldn't be relying on computers to fly planes, when we've got people who can fly them and have been flying them for many years without a lot of tragedy.
I hope I never step foot on a plane where a computer calls the shots. I don't care who says what.. Computers should aid the pilot, not replace them.
There are two types of people who believe that pilots will be replaced: people who know nothing about flying, and retiring pilots.
Wrong! Despite the ill informed commentary, this was a real crash with 136 people on board, of who (only) 3 sadly died. It happened at Habsheim, Germany, on 26 June 1988. The aircraft is an Airbus A320, F-GFKC, flying as "Air France 296" (Google it if you don't believe me).
What the commentator meant was that the aircraft has a computer to stop the pilot doing anything silly. But you have to understand how the computer works, which this chap didn't.

this plane wasnt being flown by a computer, 2 numb-nutted pilots were in control with 134 other people on board, 3 of which were killed in the crash
