Its not a mixer... Its a midi controller. It works with all soundcards

ok cool i see what ur saying but do you thnk you will stay faithful to the vestax after numark releases there ns7 serato controller i mean from just looks alone the thing looks leap and bounds better than the torq xponent and vestax have you had the chance to use one? what are your opinions on that so far?

no one actually got to use teh NS7, it was a non-functional mock-up. To be honest, its way to big for my uses. Others may find it perfect for their needs but there is no reason that the digital version of 2 turntables and a mixer should be as big as the originals :-)

well i kinda like the size of it makes it feel like ur not playing an atari game or something lol..i think the jog wheel is the perfect size.. and it doesnt look like a toy like the vestax or torq xponent..i guess im hoping its as good as it looks but if not i will try the vestax serato controller anyone got an idea on pricing on those ?

Its my understanding that the pitch fader resolution was improved as well but I need to confirm that.

why make an improvement if they arent going to truly make it perfect? you still gotta buy a soundcard to preview your songs for this thing..would it kill them to put a head phone jack? or something i mean this thing would be great the best out there if they did that

yeah but its very easy to buy a sound card that does just that and is more cost effective. You can get a simple dj sound card for under $100 and we will doing a video on all the options in the next week.

What is the pitch fader resolution on the new one? Is it still only a midi signal? ie. about 1.4% resolution

How can you tell what the newer model silver VCI100 is (the one with the fault with the scratching wheel)

press both of the scratch engage buttons at the same time. If the pitch bend is disabled then you have the newer firmware without the scratching problem. If nothing happens then you have the old one.

i came across vci-100 during my info quest on digital vinyl...i'm much impresed with this technology and now seeing this vcm (black w/ upgrades) i think ill have to pick one up when availible in da states..."tank you vedy vedy much" for the video...p.s(that was an and kaufman quote)......... =)

Hey Ean, thanx for posting the latest vid. I am torn between the VCI 100 and the xponent. It looks like Vestax are bringing out a revised version of the VCI 100, do you know when this may be hitting the UK? Also does the update solve the pitch resolution and jog wheel issues? I read somewhere that whilst the pitch adjust was limited by MIDI Vestex were looking to remedy the problem with a firmware update, do you know if this is correct?

ATM, the latest firmware version 1.2 only solves the jog wheel problem. The pitch resolution is not increased.

I have read on various forums that the pitch can be remapped to the jog wheels whilst in seek mode and they can have a much higher resolution that the faders which are restricted by 128 steps. Do you know whether this is correct? Can this be done with the latest version of Traktor?

Any help you may be able to offer which would aid me in making a decision on a controller would be greatly appreciated.

Yes- that can certainly be done with the jog wheels. You can re-map anything you want with Traktor 3 and above.

On various forums there is talk that a firmware update may also improve the pitch resolution problems. Also, would remapping the fine pitch to the jog wheels improve the pitch resolution, a member on the NI forum has said that with a fine pitch of +/- 1 steps of 0.001 can be achieved. Apologies if my questions seem a bit daft, I am new to this Midi malarky and want to make sure I make the right choice for a controller !!

thanks :-) we a lot of fun doing the work.. in terms of ways to controll fine pitch: its my opinion that sliders and jog wheels are not as good if you just need to make small adjustments. 2 buttons to slowly nudge up the tempo by accurate increments are much more precise.

I'd rather like to have my vci100 modded to the new black version of the vci100.

Good to know we all had a 'demo unit' which has been improved now and which seems to be the final version. I'm waiting for 1 month getting it back updated-and I still do.I hope this can be a reason to get my money back. It's a great unit but the whole thing is not acceptable.Vestax is not focusing their work on customer service,faceplates can not be ordered.But WOW they have the black version now!WT*!
