I must say there is a lot of misinformation going on in this forum from people just talking. First off it was created in Germany but not named after Hitler, second it is mixed with Tang mostly and prepared in a mg/ml basis so your not going to bang it. Methadone itself is a long acting drug. the liquid and pill form act identical. It is stored in the liver and released over a 24+ hour period. And besides the first couple weeks where my dose was steadily increasing i haven't felt the slightest bit high and i have never come close to catching a nod off of methadone. this drug has helped shape me into a productive and responsible person. the only way your gonna od is if you take triple your dose or mix it with benzos and alcohol and if you do that, then well, you werent ready to be on methadone in the first place.

My sister (and thousands of others)are dying from therapuetic levels of methadone because it builds up and their body cannot tolerate it even if they were on other narcotics before. Methadoe does to that to SOME people with no warning. Cardic arrests also. It is also killing hundreds of opiate-naive teens with one pill diverted. I've never OD'd, but I can tell you that the synthetic opiates are just the same as the real deal, except you know what you are getting. "The same feeling on an overdose" statement makes no sense to me. You consume alot of eiether, and you have the same reaction. It's not just for recovering heroine addicts. Doctors are perscribing them for patients dealing with severe pain. They are more convenient then some of the other opiates because they last something like 12-18 hours, where as hydrocodone or one of the other weaker opiates only lasts maybe 4-6 hours at the most.

Continuing methadone is the safest thing for a pregnant person. When the baby is born they will watch it closely for any signs of dependance and wean it over the course of around a week. Then the baby would go home with the parent like any other assuming there are no other reasons not to. The dangerous thing would be to stop taking opiates during pregnancy or to not let the MDs know about the opiate use. I'm not saying she didn't go down there to avoid scrutiny, but she had way more going on.
