  • amazing tone and vibrato from such a young player! But be more legato not so fast! Otherwise, excellent!!

  • Now take it up an octave, Nancy.

  • Holy crap man, how old are you?! Some great sounds!

    Here are my suggestions:

Find one of the top euphonium teachers. Right off the top of my head, Demondre Thurman or Brian Bowman would love to have you.

Find a backup plan. Euphonium doesn't get much work. Trust me. But still play the crap out of that horn!

  • I smell brand new Ska band.

  • I'm Jelly... shit...

  • black men + euphonium = sucuess! im proud to be both of these

  • i though you were a five year old from the thumbnail

  • Keep going bro!!

  • damn I'm jealous. That was awesome!

  • the 6 dislikes are from the deaf, jealous, racist, people that he ticked, or people who misclicked the dislike button

  • Damn! nice work

  • Damn! I was not expecting you to be such an incredible player. Good work.

  • Dang get this man an actual place to practice! He should get an entire auditorium for him to practice in instead of the garage!

  • thanks for demonstrating such excellant playing. I will show to my students to inspire them to practice, practice, practice. Great Job. The President's own Marine Band is the best place to be for a Euphonium player, so keep playing.

  • Where can I get this music?

  • Dude thats a nice euph and good sound

  • You took this way to fast man... its legato for a reason, take it slower and don't skip too many notes. Great tone though.

  • Really nice man. I played this on valve trombone once.

  • have my babies. yea?

jk but seriously your music has been a gift to my ears

    thank you ;D

  • the b flat is too high

  • @scgamecox2001 I dont think so lol do you have the book?

  • and i thought i was the only male black euphoniumist that was any good

  • do you do requests? flight of the bumble bee?

  • Great tone and air support. Occasionally the fast grouplets get compressed, especially in fast, descending lines.

    M.M. trombone performance - AZ

  • Man, you sound really nice. Love the tone quality you are producing on your instrument. Technique is nice. Keep up the good work.

  • i smell scholarship

  • hey where did you get your euphonium? I'm looking for one just like it with the compensating valve on the side. I'm in college and need one like ASAP, lol just wondering the model and price. Also AWESOME playing. =]

  • I just started playing the euphonium in my middle school band... im no way near that good :O

  • where to get this solo

  • DUDE SO PRO

Your technicals are spot on perfect, but if you want to be a grandmaster, add some phrasing up in this mother

  • how long have you been playing euph?

  • @aSeEthan Yeah. I'm hoping that our school budget can afford them is all. :\ Our Kings have a decent enough tone, it's just not as round and dark as we're hoping.

  • Amazing. You've inspired me to go practice some more.

Out of curiosity-what is your opinion on the King 2280? It's the model of euphonium that my school currently uses, although we're hoping to buy some Yamahas like you have there. But just so I can get a second opinion. :3

  • @Opatrovat Yamahas are a best choice for school instruments. I know my school owns 4 Yahama Euphoniums they play very well.

  • yea i would say that you do have nearly good everything but, you just need to do some buzzing maybe... with only your lips and then on your mouth piece and then play on your horn.. that helps me with keeping from having air spasms with fast runs and what not. im just saying i know your very good and you probably do this already but just trying to help

  • @coolboyrevenge

    that's exactly my range...this guy's good

  • Very nice tone, but watch your runs, good technic though. Is that a Yamaha?

  • Great tone and dexterity. Thanks for posting.

  • thumbs up

if you know the 5 dislikes ignorant racists

  • @MNcrmdgn I want to give 5000 green thumbs...But i can give only 1

  • very good !! REPETITIA MATER STUDIORUM !!

  • where are you getting these etudes from?

  • Amazing!!!!!!

  • Absolutely brilliant! I've only been playing for three months now, and I can see I have much to learn from young men like you. Very nicely done!

  • I only got from low A to high C on dis instrument and u r so good at dis!

  • From one euphonium player to another, good job man!!! :)

  • From one euphonium player to another, you are awesome man! :)

  • NCCU has a scholarship waiting for you when your ready

  • Well done. Impressive.

  • You are awesome

  • Make sure you give the notes before you take a breath some more life instead of clipping them off a little. Your lung size might not be the best like mine, (i have about 2-3 liter lungs) but if you need to take something a little slower to give notes their full value, do it.

  • truly good, kid. go for it! best from spain.

  • Yamahas are good.

and, man, you are awesome at this. bound to get a career as a musician, if not already!

  • i play euphonium and HOLY FUCK YOUR GOOD!

  • For all my years, I never got as good as you. Such a fine tone.

  • dude that was MIND BLOWING ive been playing for 5 years and my sounds is not as clear as that!!!...you are awesome.

did you buy your one baritone??

  • dude. . . sorry, how old are you in tis video, b/c i've been playing since the 6th grade, and you tone is amazing. i'm soo jealous. if you continue in your music you'll do great things. keep it up, and MNctmdgn is right about your articulations, but that is still awesome.

  • The real question is where would he like to go for college for his options will be limitless by the time his sound and technique mature for high school graduation.

  • @sickemdudley01 He goes to TCU, Texas Christian University, now

  • nice

  • いいね!!!

  • i thought this was a baritone tuba? pleeze tell me

  • @tristanh11 It's a Euphonium.

  • Dang dude you're like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000x better than me lol...

  • Shit. Just. Got. Real.

  • What town or school is blessed with this talented player? Look at the Beethoven Duets for Bassoon and Clarinet after finding a clarinetist or soprano sax player who can keep your pace and a paying audience should follow soon behind in support of this team especially if you are in an urban area where high art is appreciated.

  • wow you are so amazing that is a great solo i hope to see u as a profesional someday wow

  • Great job! Do your parents make you practice out in the garage?? Haha.

  • I envy you! Great job (:

  • ummmm wtf...wow?!

  • i'm very happy mhen I'm listenning that! you're a very good player! continue

  • amazing!!! keep it up bro

  • Damn. I've played euhonium for three years. Truly EPIC.

  • you are a great euphonium player!!

  • I just got this book(after a while of wanting it)and I site-read this exercise. It's a hell of a lot easier that it sounds like it would be(lol), but still amazing.

I did notice that you skipped measures 25 through 28, and just led measure 24 into measure 29 the way 28 is supposed to. Any reason for that? If you could the get the rest of the piece as well as you got it, you could easily tackle those skipped measures.

  • dude that was awsome for your age.

  • @1GeekBand What do you mean "for your age?" That was awesome, period

    Atenciosamente,

    xavierbarreto@sapo.pt

  • omg!... AWESOME

  • i also play the euph and nice

  • Goood

  • i wish i could vibrato! ahah this was good.

  • Very well played I hate to sound like a broken record but do work on your attacks and a second thing. Try to change up your breathing watch for the phrasing something that a lot of Euphonium players don't think about is where they breath. You are breathing in all of the standard points but if you change it up then you might notice that you don't have to take as many breaths

  • damn, ur usin vibrato, my tutor JUST STARTED TECHIN ME TAHT.

  • Good stuff

  • props just work on your attacks :)

  • I play the baritone

  • wow...stunned.... I wandered onto this and was surprised. Congratulations man you sound good!

  • You Cold Bro but just watch ya fingers. Holdem right because its the right way to play the horn. Its a bad habit to break but I promise if you hold them fingers right your sound will be alot better and your technacality will be excecuted alot more!

  • I'm loving the vibrato :)

  • woah honors band?

  • very nice

  • I was a chapion Baritonist in my hayday, keep up the good work. You could take State everytime.

  • verey nice

  • hey i started playing euphonium this year and got the hang of it and then i saw you play and i was wow i should start practicing

  • Hey I Have Request Im A Euphonium As well I Wrote A Piece For U And Some Other Euphonium Players Its Called Aviator I was Wondering Do U Want To Play

    :)

  • Child prodigy right here. Dang!

  • Way to go young man. I've played for many years and love to hear young people that love this great instrument. Nice playing. Keep working hard too. Best wishes!

  • URA BEAST!!!! :))

  • how long have you been playing

  • quick question, how much would a mute 4 a euphonium cost? and what type would you need to make it sound like a bassoon? i'm thinking maybe a straight mute, i could be wrong, thanks! =P

  • i play baritone as well, and i think that is amazing

  • ... you could beat our whole Euphonium section in the band im in xD nice job =D

  • yamaha YEP 642 looks like. You sounded very good. Nice tone and very accurate finger work. How long have you been playing for?

I play a Yamaha YEP 842 and am first chair in my college's top band. I've been playing for 10 years and I love it.

Maybe I should check out that book you;re playing out of, that one sounded like fun.

  • this is wahy i like the baritone

  • @anikan66 this is a euphonium, not a baritone. two comepletly different instruments.

  • damn man your good i play the baritone too and i am awesome at it

  • awsome i play ephonium inband at school, we r about to have a festival, im stuck on a song called ''With valor and honor'' and another song called ''december sky'' but good job

  • Awesome!!!

  • Way to go, man!

  • Dude your pretty dang good

  • I've played euph for about thirty years, and I'm envious of your sound. I notice, however, that your attacks (the way you begin your notes) have an explosive quality, as though you begin the sound by forcing air through your lips, as in a 'p' sound. A tongued attack (a soft 'd' rather than a 't') would be a better match to this music. You can also develop VERY quiet attacks by working on diaphragm control so you can start the air flow from your lungs precisely when you need to start the tone.

  • @MNcrmdgn

Do the softer attacks make it harder to tell if someone is playing this instrument? I've seen a few videos of this instrument and it's hard to tell if they are playing the instrument for real.

  • @MNcrmdgn

Riight! , My Music teacher Taught us how to use our diaphram more often, and we have to sit straight up and before we play, we take a deep breath, and we make a "P" sound.

  • still you caNT DENIE THAT YOUR PRETTY PRETTY GOOD DUDE

  • im in the 7th grade and i out play 10 8th graders in my class my solo this year is carnival of venice

  • @dani92396

    Congratz

    you should be god

  • dude! how old are you?

  • he is prob like 17-18

  • dude you sound awsome!!!!!!

  • nice job. what is the exact name of the book?

  • metronome

  • Excellent! You are very good for your age. Don't have any criticisms that haven't already been posted.

  • well like the book says "legato studies".....you nailed it on everything except for the stuff everyone, including myself, has problems with. at the beginning and i think a little at the end after the fast triplets then you do that skpi up, just try to make the transition between notes smoother. other than that fantastic job, people are definitely learning from watching you

  • such a nice sound! wish i could play to this technical level, have a listen to me play ive put a video up of me in a tuba quintet thing let me know what you think :)

  • u play very well! can u send me scans of these etude on my mail?

it will be very helpfull :)

  • very good job. tone is nice and you have good posture with your fingers. However, breathing through your mouth and keeping a more erect standing stance will help maximize air intake. Make sure you practice those faster parts, the sextuplets, because they sound a little fuzzy. However in total, very nice job and can't wait to see you get better :D

  • great job, my son is in 6th & plays baritone...can't wait to show him this!

  • I can't even play that fast. lol

  • Nice job overall. You are crunching some of the sextuplet sequences into the quarter notes. As mentioned below, slow the tempo down and work on evening out the runs. Gradually increase tempo on the met'. Also, as you get farther into the etude, don't allow breath fatigue to allow you to lose tempo when you take in air. Work on catch breaths to help this. Lastly, check your longer notes with a tuner. Maybe practice playing them in tune without the runs in between.

  • Nice legato man! good job.. breath throug your mouth...

  • hey i play a euph too. i have a mouthpiece that has a smaller shank at the end that fits into the lead pipe. its 51D small, is there such thing as a 51D MEDIUM? thanx

  • now why did u play a b natural with three valves? do u not know the other fingering?

  • very nice job!

    sincerely, a euphonium player!

  • dam

  • You did very well for your age. Now play Rachmaninoff Prelude Op.23 No.5 :):):):):)

  • im in 6th grade and im the only baritone player in the school out of 6th 5th and 4th graders

  • awsome just awsome. Dont know howold you are but anny way very good job.

  • its always nice to see a fellow euphonium player there are only two in my school : ( great job

  • nice sound

  • Nice, dude, im in 8th grade, and i play euphonium too, so nice job and its good to see kids that are interested in band:)

  • no dont breathe through your nose. you dont get near as much air as breathing through your mouth. just work on taking bigger breathes quitley. it actually doesnt take as long as everything else does to work on

  • Try taking a breath while using a "O" syllable... I play trombone and am in the choir as well and I've found if you combine the two breathing techniques (mass quantities and silent breath on an "O") it will actually give you more breath to use :D

    Hope this helps

  • You're supposed to breathe through your mouth... Musicians don't breathe through their nose, unless used for circular breathing or something. You can continue to breathe through your nose and continue to suck at giving advice. :)

  • um .. ididnt know that if it true i am going to try that im a trombone euphonium and tuba(in 7th grade playing for a year and 1/2) player personally i like trombone and tuba's better the euphonium is cool though!i stick with my lowbrass instrument lol!

  • This is nice, I play elphonium too, and I like it!=D

  • I thought you kicked butt! Right on!

  • Breathe in through your nose. It makes less sound when you breathe in, and once you get used to it, it's easier rather than opening your lips to take a breathe.

Breathing in through your nose also helps visually. Again with the lips. Other than that you did awesome!

  • I am not going against what you are saying. However, out of all the groups, bands, orchestras, soloist, and corps that I have seen and been apart of...I have never been told or seen someone told to breathe through their nose. The main reason is that you cannot get a deep full breath using this method. Check out the many videos on Breathing Excersises, I am not saying through-the-nose is a wrong method...but I do not believe it is the best. Especially on the euphonium.

  • im not criticizing you but you get a much better breath from using your mouth, it alows you to play longer between breaths and makes you have a nicer tone
