evan is the real deal period. no one comes this close to real new orleans style clarinet playing from way back in the day ala omer simeon, sidney bechet, barney bigard, edmond hall, jimmy noone and albert nicholas. great stuff. thanks for posting!!

I feel that Evan is at his best when he plays these older (traditional) tunes. I was fortunate enough to see Evan play with Tim Laughlin and Otis Bassoon in place of Pete Fountain during the 2007 Jazz Appreciation Month concert down near Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. It was some of the best clarinetting I've heard in person. However, it has been very difficult for me to find Evan playing this kind of music since. Thanks for posting this!!
