doesn't that old man with a gun upwards blow his brains in a sec there? and someone yells "call the ambulance" (LOL). thought he does.. i could be wrong dough
I'd always felt a kindred spirit with this group....they seemed to tap directly into my capacity for abstract thought. Haven't seen this in years and it's still completely relevant today. Thanks a bunch for posting!
These guys were like God's to me....I was studying TV/Video production at the time...keep in mind that back in these days the video editing equipment was no where near as exact as it is today. Although I do prefer the older analog style equipment, simply for intuitivity, and their "feel" they were rarely 100% frame accurate, meaning you kind of had to get the 'feel' of the timing of each individual machine . Its hard for me to fathom editing anything as rythmically complex as this!
I was lucky enough to go to school in RI and saw them in the parking lot of I think Club Rocket (coulda been the Living Room...Babyhead?...so many years, so many drugs) doing the station wagon thing with the big spinning dish screen and became an instant fan. What an act, way ahead of their time. I still have two (all?) CD's. Many thanks to the up-loader.
That guy was about to kill himself. I saw that video ages ago, the one that it could could hurt someone. The rest of the video is of him putting the gun in his mouth, and pulling the trigger. I have seen the whole thing before.
If you read up on Budd Dwyer there's a lot of controversy about his being railroaded- Supposedly he killed himself in a move to ensure his family would continue to receive benefits. I fucking love EBN and acts like Negativland; we need more cut-up bands like this.
The politician is Budd Dwyer, Pennsylvania I think. He definitely didn't want to go to prison. Mariah Carey, which movie the Harrison Ford is from..? The hands of John Warnock Hinckley are in there shooting at President Reagan offscreen. Clips from The Manchurian Candidate, assorted riot footage..? Motorcade footage..? The police chief of Los Angeles, Dan Rather and course babes in bikinis with machine guns. Wonderful.
This is still a classic piece of video revolution. Used to watch this on VHS with my friends, and get freaked out by their intro, warning anyone with seizures to leave the room. Pure 1990's underground artistry! Thank you, EBN. Genius.
I own this on VHS tape (Commercial Entertainment Product), and then bought their 'unreleased' "Telecommunication Breakdown" VHS direct from them on their tour (Joshua Pearson, nice guy!). No doubt, 'Los Minstrels Del Diablo' (the 'band' that I'm in), influenced heavily by this... basically started to do similar, because they weren't around anymore!
So freakin' awesome... I remember my roommate in college introducing me to EBN. He had the VHS with all videos strung together. "Psychoactive Drugs" and "Shoot the Mac 10" are also awesome for anyone interested...
Seen this video YEARS ago and didn't know anything about it. Then I saw Ford yell "get down" On "Patriot games".
Typed in "patriot games music mix sample ford get down" on Google, got a link to jameshyman.c o m and he had a direct link here. Awesome clip. Thanks for posting.
This tape really needs to be watched in it's entirety and on a quality TV, not this crappy quality on youtube. Search Amazon for "Commercial Entertainment Product EBN" to find a copy of it.
Does anyone have a live version of this? I saw them at the limelight in NYC when they brought their newsvan. I wish someone recorded that show. Awsome.
I have this VHS.. Commercial Entertainment Product if I do recall correctly.. I really should dig this out and capture it to my pc.. Does anyone know if these guys are still around?
i'm so glad that i found this! i love EBN and was hoping the videos would be on youtube. the only i haven't found here yet is the mac-10 video. i'll have to dig up my CD at home and see if i can post it.
It has to be remembered aswell that EBN did pay close attention to the audio mixing and mastering of their sampled material. They deserve credit for this also.
Thanks...So Fa Kin Cool!!!
