Listen to Van Halen Live in Tokyo or Van Halen Live in Toronto in '95 and you will hear great bass playing. Eddie only gives a bassist so much room to work. With all his crazy shit, somebody has to hold the helm with the drums.

The fact is, it has been a progressive thing. It started with separate dressing rooms back in the 80's (non-smoking, drinking - Hagar, Mikey and smoking, no-drinking - Ed and Alex). They were isolated more than they were together on tours. Ed plays the bass parts on most of the albums, Mike comes in and embellishes and sings backups. There is a lack of respect between them. It's sad. This was just a natural progression of things.
Ahh it may have been the progression between Eddie and Mikey but I read an interview with Mikey that said he and Sammy did not become really good friends until after Sammy left the first time. But God willing someday soon maybe we can see the ultimate reunion of VH with both Sammy and Dave! I know is wishful thinking

Shame on EVH for excluding Michael Anthony in favor of his own son. The sound suffers as a result, lacks the punch of the old days and is covered up with heavier drums and thicker guitar in the mix. They might as well play without a bass player, the result is similar. Check out the same songs with MA on bass and it is clear to anyone not in complete denial. It's easy to get nostalgic about hearing the old tunes again, but I'll save my money and continue to wait for a REAL reunion

Just saw the l.a. show, $600 ticket and worth every penny! Wolf sounds really good, he'll only get better, the baby fat will come off from touring, just needs to tighten up bass lines a hair, his voice sounds perfect with Eddies because of the d.n.a. V.H. AND D.L.R FOREVER!

The fact is, it has been a progressive thing. It started with separate dressing rooms back in the 80's (non-smoking, drinking - Hagar, Mikey and smoking, no-drinking - Ed and Alex). They were isolated more than they were together on tours. Ed plays the bass parts on most of the albums, Mike comes in and embellishes and sings backups. There is a lack of respect between them. It's sad. This was just a natural progression of things.

Ahh it may have been the progression between Eddie and Mikey but I read an interview with Mikey that said he and Sammy did not become really good friends until after Sammy left the first time. But God willing someday soon maybe we can see the ultimate reunion of VH with both Sammy and Dave! I know is wishful thinking

I must admit I thought this tour would suck balls, but going on this and other clips I've watched, VH is sounding good - and in good shape for guys over 50! I can't deal with the Wolfie thing though - he just looks wrong on the stage.
They should have dug up Phil Lynott or Cliff Burton - that would have been cool.

I went to the Philly show and Cleveland show, and I might be heading to the Indy show. The band FUCKING ROCKS AND KICKS ASS!!! They are playing better than 1984...trust me on this. Dave is nailing the vocals, and Eddie is on fire like the old days. Wolfie can hold his own...give him some time and he will be like dear old Dad. I'd like to, but I'm in Australia. VH only ever came here once - and that was with Gary! It really wasn't the same, and I think all my friends agreed on that show we saw that Michael Anthony singing "Somebody Get Me A Doctor" was the highlight.

Shame on EVH for excluding Michael Anthony in favor of his own son. The sound suffers as a result, lacks the punch of the old days and is covered up with heavier drums and thicker guitar in the mix. They might as well play without a bass player, the result is similar. Check out the same songs with MA on bass and it is clear to anyone not in complete denial. It's easy to get nostalgic about hearing the old tunes again, but I'll save my money and continue to wait for a REAL reunion

Yes I have heard all of Zakk's music and think he is multi-talented and a very great singer but he is not at the same level as Eddie or Diamond Darrell on guitar.
