The large copper planchet could be a blank planchet used in other countries for making there coins...or possible a very rare Large US Cent planchet from the 1800's.
These are GENUINE U.S. Mint coins and Yes they are "messed" up by the mint equipment and normally they would not get into circulation...about 1 in 10,000,000 escape, and they are very rare
