BBD should have never premiered a song like they did, then kept it locked up for one whole year before releasing it on the 1st anniversary of its 1991 Fresh Prince debut in November 1992.The album didn't even come out until June 1993 and this song wasn't even on it.

I agree with those who said "Gangsta" should have been included on "Hootie Mack" and would have helped it sell better. There were a few problems, MCA was really pressuring for an album release which, probably resulted in a hasty song selection and the omission of "Gangsta" which would explain the 'rushed' feeling of the album. MCA also didn't market the album, as they do with urban artists who record for them.

Don't be too bummed, however "Hootie Mack" still went Gold. :)
