  • Why the hell is Hank Hill skinning squirrels for?

  • Nice knife. What kind is it?

  • Nicely done

  • Bet you cant do it to a live one......

  • Went out this morning, and killed 6. Tried this method, and it makes it SO easy!! Thanks for posting.

  • @oceanpyrate whens the best time of the day for squirrel hunting

  • @hmongjedi I personally like the mornings, starting about an hour after Sunrise...and Hunting for a 2-3 hours after that.

  • i just started squirrel hunting and i only killed 2 squirrels i tried it your way on the second squirrel and it didnt work

  • then you did it wrong i do it every time i usally cut the skin around the but more.

  • quick, clean and ready to cook!

  • man - that's quick

i reckon you have done that a few times before - LOL

    thanks

  • thank alot!

  • It's sad that this video is restricted, and that I have to sign in to watch it. Thank you forthe video though. It's a good one.

  • I have no problem with killing and eating. Killing and wasting is disrespectful of nature. Good job passing on the knowledge!

  • I use this method now every time I go huntin me a tree rat. Works every time very effectively and it always turns out neat and clean! Thanks sarge!

  • Thanks for showing us your techinque, Sarge! My Dad passed 12 yrs ago and I am getting ready to go squirrel hunting w/ a friend for the 1st time this weekend. Wish me luck! :D *ps.. my Dad was a Sarge in the Army also!*

  • thats fantastic! thanks!

  • Threw away the best parts :P

  • i start from under the ribs with a sharp knife while someone else stretches the skin cut the skin pull as hard as you can to tear the skin and pull all the guts out. just work your way through the skin and the meat and bones, cut off the limbs with a wire cutter on pliers and the skin and limbs will come off as one.

  • Damn did you come up with that yourself...its really effective

  • Very impressive.

  • There is the Squirrel, its ready to eat.

  • i remember i did this back in nam

  • I just became a vegetarian! :-)

  • You pealed it's skin straight off! wow, you sir, is making me want to take up hunting.

I trained my mind with these vids, i used to be uneasy about seeing such a cute animal get killed, but i'd be better off killing my own food fast and easy, then eat tortured processed beef and chicken.

  • would this be effective if you wanted to keep the skin?

  • Yummy!

  • like a boss

  • Remind me to nev'a piss this brotha off! Cats think they're hard and gangsta...man this Sergeant is hard core. Who does that but a "real" killer. Thank God its just hunting for eating purposes because that knowledge is nooooo joke! Good God. Glad I don't eat squirrel. If I was starving I might though.

  • Too bad you cant do a deer like this.

  • why did i watch this i have a weak stomach lol but it was a good video

  • Man thanks so much spent about 1 hour skinning 4 yesterday and we could only get the legs and arms because it was so tough to skin

  • Best method I`ve seen..

  • that makes my ass hurt

  • Sarge doesn't fuck around, does he?

  • looks easy that way. thanks for the tip.

  • Good video!

  • Good video your technique looks alot easier than mine

  • @Mdh8488 And mine too. I last tried skinning squirrels about 35 yrs ago and gave up after the 2nd try because it seemed like such work. Sarge's technique is tops.

  • Nice knife.

  • *Grabs easy button* Now that was easy.

  • That's exactly the way I do it too. Quick and easy. :)

  • I'm impressed how easy you make that look. You've turned something that gruesome into a savage art form. Very informative video and worth addressing your technique.

  • how u clean a chipmunk

  • bear grills will eat the squirrel skin and all

  • this guy is pro i dont know if a city slicker like myself could ever even touch a dead squirrel.

  • Best way to skin an clean a squirrel!

  • Can you still use that method if you send the tails to mepps cuz you have to keep the bone in the tails?

  • @SuperJg4567 Yeah you don't cut the bone out of the tail, you just cut the tail loose from the rest of the bones.

  • @SuperJg4567 Absolutely. Just cut the tail off the hide after you're done with cleaning the squirrel, salt the flesh end of it liberally and make sure it is completely straight when you set it in the freezer.

  • I could never do that

  • dang only if i went slower lol thats the fastest skining ive seen i need to learn this way great vid

  • @Fell545 , I went real slow on this so folks could see what I was doing. I do it all in less than a minute when not making an instructional video.

  • @1seesaw2 well either great vid and thanks for shareing i have a a hard time skinin these suckers so im gonna try it i know it will take time and practice to profect it

  • @PowerstrokeForever I've never had a video this popular, it sure attracts some strange people.

  • Nice.....

  • thats a dang sharp knife

  • its like taking a little squirrel sweater off his body

  • can u do tht with a rabbit

  • @TellATuBBy210 yes the same way with a rabbit

  • @TellATuBBy210 pretty much the same

  • @laxbros10 why because he properly teaches to skin and clean animals for food as survival techniques? Its not like he is taking a gun, shooting them, then letting their rotting bodies go to waste. Animals are food, and it is permitted to hunt as long as you plan to eat the animal, not just mindless killing.

  • @laxbros10 Its called hunting and eating he did it hiself unlike you probley go to the drive through for your food

  • Thank you Sarge, very well done. You never know when such knowledge will come in handy.

  • What kind of knife is Sarge using?

  • @ChewRed I'm not very sure but I thought of it that way too

  • Some squirrel are known to have rabbies arent they?

  • @davidshultz2007 not many they have wholes im not sure if thats how you spell it ut they are parasites and you shouldnt eat if they have this

  • I have question. Can you skin a squirrel by chopping of his head and then peel the rest of the skin off? I was just wondering because my dad said he thought thats how you did it. And im just confused.

  • ewwwwwww

  • What the fuck man? this is disgusting!

  • @ghostavenger1988 Not nearly as disgusting as factory farm meat.

  • Excellent and thorough, very easy to follow.

    Thanks!

  • U are a nasty man

  • who else did not expect that he was gonna take the skin off like that

  • @tkn6 lol it was like a little suit

  • @STYLE3novascotia i thought that too, then remembered it was actual skin that was being torn off.

  • oh shit its like a t shirt

  • @aristophane32 lol IKR XDDD

  • hahaha kidney pie xD

  • now that was so cool i used to faff and faff to skin them.

    thanks for that.

  • PRO

  • NICE VEDIO

  • Great Vid! Big squirrel hunter but could never figure out how to skin and clean em right.

  • Wow, somebody get that man an easy button.

  • I've been cleaning them the hard way for 15 years! Thanks Sarge

  • look at the booty on 1:08

  • thats nasty doe

  • Great Video Sir Thanks

  • Thanks so much Sarge. Well done.

  • This is a wonderful video!!! I just finished skinning two squirrels for the first time all because of this video's help. Thanks Sarge!

  • Great instructional video.... You did a great job... Check out my hog hunting videos and subscribe if you like...

  • Good method from years of experience. He like to keep his knives sharp too I see. Good video.

  • Can u imagine that happening to a human LMAO good job skinning :D

  • wonder if this would work on rats.

  • Jesus Christ. 2 minutes ago it was a squirrel. Now it's been demolished. Ansolutely disgusting!

  • Thank you SO much for this tutorial! i just shot a squirrel and cooked it up and it was really good compared to what other people say. Now i'll go out and get some more. Thanks again!

  • To celebrate finishing my finals, I think I'll show this to my sister tomorrow... :D

  • what does squirrel taste like and what happens if it has rabbies !!!!

  • @wolverin648 Rabies gets cooked out, if I'm not mistaken.

  • @wolverin648 I've never heard of rabbies in squirrel. You know the little spoon shaped pieces of meat in a chicken's lower back? Squirrel tastes like that, only much better.

  • U make it look so easy I love it. It takes me like 30 minuits but I get a really good lookin pelt.

  • anybody for richard hammond at 0:19 ?

  • Is it ok to eat the heart or liver? Or its too small?

  • vegans dont wanna kill animals, i get it.

see me, i don't want to eat genetically modified tofu for my protien, you know, the beans engineered to be sterile... the ones reported to make lab rats sterile after a few generations.

and i dont want to take some pill (probably made from something nasty, just to make a buck) that gives me the vital nutrients only meat provides, you know the ones necessary for brain function?

i trust nature, i am gratefull for animal's.

    they are tastey :D

  • I had a similar video of my father showing how to clean a squirrel for the kitchen, and youtube banned it and penalized my account! They labeled it a "gross out" video. I couldn't believe it.

  • That buddies slick, tried it half hour ago n couldn't get it to go that good, I'm gonna eat my way till I can get it that slick or obesity lol

  • I think im going to have to try this tomorrow. Got some fat squirrels by my house.

  • I FEEL SORRY FOR THE SQUIRREL :'(

  • thats a cool ass old fella wish i had a grand dad like him

  • Thats a dam sharp pocketknife !

  • I adore squirrels and think they're cute (despite knowing that they're often vermin). I have a very difficult time imagining killing one. But I can see myself trying the meat. I've never killed and eaten anything myself before (save fish), so I have a great deal of respect for those who do - if more people were involved in the actual preparation of their food (i.e. killing, skinning and gutting), I think we'd be more respectful of just what's on our plates. I'll have to go hunting sometime.

  • @Merejkowski Yes, they're cute, so are mice. The squirrel hunt where I made this video is in Sept in the Shawnee National Forest in the southern tip of Illinois. We hunt squirrel, eat squirrel, and play music for several days. You could certainly come, I can promise you'll get to eat squirrel!

  • by most skinning/gutting standards, that seems pretty clean. great demonstration. not to be cliche, but if I don't find a job pretty soon, I may be putting this video to decidedly practical use

  • Is the meat good?

  • thanks 4 the info it hlped

  • Does the meat taste good?

  • @xccaae I LOVE squirrel meat. It depends on how you cook it, how old the squirrel was, how soon you cleaned it, etc. I prefer squirrel to filet mignon.

  • @GrowlinWillie Hehe.. maybe I'll try it sometimes.. I bet it's not farther from rabbit meat.. they are rodents after all :D.

  • @GrowlinWillie I thought squirrels carried diseases & shit?

  • @GrowlinWillie it nearly tastes like roast chicken when you roast it with fresh spring onion and cream.

  • @GrowlinWillie

Thanks man, thats awsome. I have a bunch of squrrils in my back yard I found out you can eat them. This will come in handy!

  • @GrowlinWillie do you use a .22 rifle or an air rifle

  • @xccaae lol

  • @xccaae squirrel is GREAT to eat, i like to fry the legs in butter with Cajun seasoning it is best when fresh

  • @xccaae Squirrel is awesome. Some of the finest meat in the woods. I've left mine in the sack while I've hunted the entire day before cleaning.

  • Too easy Drill Sargent, too easy.

  • Parabéns ! muito prático, limpo e eficiente o seu método, embora eu não seja a favor da caça, porém em uma situação de sobrevivência é uma ação necessária.

  • I think you have done this a couple times because your really good at skinning squirrel/squirrels

  • Thanks for the video , great work.

  • Thank You

  • I live in a city with them fearless squirrels are those safe to eat?

  • @xXmcgoatsXx yeah squirrels are safe to eat. I eat em all the time

  • Thats a really sharp knife. I will surely try this one day

  • its like a sock! :D

  • beautiful!!

  • i love how you take the fur off it's like a sock xD

  • just like dressin a deer but you cant step on a deers tail and rip its skin off

  • @plasmaball243 Ah, ok. Thanks for the explanation. I am Sarge, the guy doing the skinning. I took Grandpa Savage as a compliment, so I just wanted to make sure it wasn't in reference to me being a crippled up old man, which of course I am.

  • Is that a westren knife? I have the same kind.

  • @freakyhuntvids yes it is a western knife, an old one.

  • you actually make this look so easy. i hope one day i can get it down like this. seems like you hardly got any hair on the meat as well. which i tend to have a problem with. very good video.

  • @plasmaball243 Grandpa Savage??????

  • Damn best method I've seen yet. Gonna try it very soon. Way faster than tugging and cutting and tugging and cussing for 15 min with the way I was doing it when I first started. Thanks for the video.

  • @tasaman yea its pretty good, just matters if you want the pelt to

  • @tasaman way better than my last couple attempts, rather than pulling on the pelt [wanted to save it for a taxidermist] I opened a small pocket on the bottom of the tail and used an air compressor set on low psi to try to seperate the skin, worked for a bit before it blew out where I snared it. Spent half an hour using a knife to cut the skin off manually.

  • Would this work for rabbits too I wonder??

  • @Ub3rNo0ber YOu don't need a knife to skin a rabbit, just hold it by the hind legs near the feet and start pulling the skin off. It comes off easy, then you can gut it as shown in the squirrel cleaning video.

  • what if i just want it for the pelt?maybe let the dog eat the meat for retrieving

  • we eat the skin and head. haha. all we do is just burn off the hair and gut them.

  • @azntactical waste nothing lol

  • LIKE A BOSS !

  • Is it safe to eat the random squirrels in your back yard? I hear rabbit has diseases for instance.

  • @SnovvVilliers Yes is is safe to eat the random squirrel in your back yard. Rabbits can carry tularemia, just be careful not to cut yourself while you are cleaning a rabbit, it's still safe to eat if you cook it well. You don't have to worry with squirrels, they are not disease carriers. On occassion you might shoot a squirrel during warm weather that has bot fly larva under it's skin. Some folks call them wolves or warbles. The bot fly larva won't hurt the meat at all.

  • thats how i gut my trout =p

  • Hey Sarge! Why don't you wanna damage the internal organs and such?

  • @NationalCrafter its because the stuff inside the organs will run out and create a mess its just alot cleaner if u dont cut them open.

  • @NationalCrafter Spill the gut's contents on the meat and it makes it taste bad. The rest doesn't matter.

  • Very good video. Thanks to both of you. Sarge, for the clear steps, and GrowlinWillie for the up-close, steady and clear video shooting. (I saw one squirrel-cleaning video that was shaking all over the place!).

  • awsome video, thanks for the new technique, cant wait to try it out.

  • If you're against killing animals, try growing your own food. Farmers kill animals, such as raccoons, rabbits, woodchucks, rats, mice. If you think you can produce your own food without harming animals, try it. Squirrels are rodents, we call them tree rats. The squirrel in this video had a more meaningful life than you. She helped teach thousands of people how to produce their own food. I doubt if you've ever produced anything you've eaten. But you're good at judging others.

  • @brucetheparishiltonf Vegans may disagree with your rationalization of why we must kill animals to survive.

The squirrel was dead during all this; its life gained no new meaning. Unless you believe in the afterlife, in which case you're a weirdo.

I would look at what you wrote and try to rationalize it as much as possible, then take all those rationalizations and put them in a book titled "Wrong", because everything you just said was wrong.

    Have a nice day.

  • Do the squirrels have fleas? Nice vid.

  • @Djinnmeister Yeah i had a few that had alot.

  • and youre married? everytime you knife someone imagine you do this to your wife. If you have a heart.

  • Nice job , would like to see your rabbit technique

  • I TELL YA WHAT SARGE YA MADE A SQUIREL HUNTER OUTTA ME AGAIN ,,, SUCH AN EASIER WAY THEN WHAT I DID ,, I LOVE TIPS FROM THE OLD TIMERS THAT KNOW WHAT THE HECK THERE DOIN :]

  • @GrowlinWillie hey im going hunting a a couple of days any tips?

  • @mrpieman12 dont miss ;)
