man, i just got into a sprain wid my right leg :( i cant low kick in full potential, and cause of that im doing southpaw now, i can at least do some thips on my right leg though
Kickboxing sucks, always has. Now they're letting more go on in the ring because they know Muay Thai owns them 85% of the time.
What he says about keeping your right arm out is false, It increases power, not merely there for balance. I prefer throwing all my weight and turning hard into my kicks, because that's the whole point of a round kick and it drops the target faster. Then again, this is just kickboxing haha
@TheMMAfightchannel If you do research you'll see they are vastly different, Muay Thai predating kickboxing by quite some time. Kickboxing has only just recently become similar to Thai Boxing within the last 10-15 years.
Now I've seen some pretty good kickboxers, but upon doing research they've either learned Muay Thai and just mixed the names up, or they've studied a little MT.
@OldStyleMuay yes that is true but they teach similar form and style of fighting only difference is that k-1 has made kickboxing specific to k-1 rules. i am a Mixed martial artist and if you check out my channel you will see that and i have trained in both kickboxing and muay thai and they have very little difference that ive noticed.
@TheMMAfightchannel Unless kickboxing has completely allowed the Clinch and Elbows in their entirety, I won't see much similarity. I'm not bashing or attacking you at all, don't let that cross your mind. I'm just one of those guys who supports Thai Boxing over any other stand up form, regardless of similarities. Plus it was us Americans who originally turned kickboxing into a joke until recent years. No kicks below the waist, no kicking with the shin, no elbows, only single straight knees.
@OldStyleMuay no no i understand that fine and i do agree with you that muay thai is the best form of stand up along with boxing as you need great hands to do succesfully in any form of fighting and thats a fact. all i was saying is that the way ive been taught kickbxoing was similar to traditional thai boxing. i was unaware of the rules in america as i am australian, but i am a strong fan of k-1 and mirko cro cop who is one of the best strikers of all time in his prime.
@TheMMAfightchannel Yeah I hear ya on all that man. Is this Brandon or Scott?
And if you'd like to see Thai Boxing in it's more pure form, check out Donnie B, he teaches the old combat style of Muay Thai, and he's been doing it for like 15 years.
I'd like to say that your videos are good, Scott has some pretty crisp hands and you've got great kicks, especially the high kick. I know you're only doing bag training, but I'd just like to say that you guys could put a little more aggression into it. Mirko was a beast in his prime, my second favorite fighter, but I will always be more of a Ramon Dekkers fanatic : P
For couple years now i've had a heavy bag in the house that i use often enough to train myself, until rescently i did not have any proffesional assistance or anything like that. That very first time he very quickly pointed out that i'm kicking the wrong way, when i give a right l kick to the body i throw my left hand down instead of my right. I was told this is done in order to keep your guard on your left side up at all times and this makes sense to me. I however feel like i'm lacking so much
power throwing my right hand down instead of my left, and i was wondering if anyone could explain to me why it's done throwing your right, instead of your left and why it feels so un natural for me, or is it just because i've done it like this for years?
in real fight u dont pivot your feet much , only a bit to gain explosivness , if pivot it alot u wont be able to make combo ... this guy is actually pretty good
Yup dude up is surely right i try pivot n u r down when u lose contact wit enemy...
@SubtitleDave THat's kind of silly to say. Not pivoting and making it somewhat upward makes the lowkick faster, even if it's less powerfull. It's just another way to do it, not necessarily better or worse.
Suppose you're facing a guy faster than you. You make a proper pivoting lowkick, he walks through it and he's in your face. Bad, very bad.
A kick like shown here is faster, or a good distraction to lead in a combination. It's not good or bad, it just needs to be used differently.
Etherform66 is right, he doesn't pivot his left foot as much as actually needed to create real power to give a TKO by leg kick (trust me, in streetfights, an unchecked low kick can bring someone down), Im a kickboxer myself. Telepcanin is a little bit right too, IF you combo with your hands after, BUT if you're confident your legkick will REALLY hurt. Give the fella a hard 'cutting' lowkick and he will DONE.
this should be training? your both arms come down so that you would catch a richt straight everytime.... the left foot has to point out everytime. this is really one of the shittiest low kicks i´ve ever seen.. sorry but there is no force
u got no power in your kick you need to step beond the bag then explode your hip cos power only goes to ur hip movement so u need to step beond the bag to get real power dumbass i am putting vids up cos theese ppl make me sick i will show u all how to do it
if u do low kick why u put ur hands down plz answer thank you:) i know u do it speedy but if u do a battle and he punching at ur face it isnt fine at all
Sprudz, I realize your comment was 9 months ago. However, yes if you were sparring and a guy were to throw a leg kick following technique (In sparring) you would be quick to react and counter. Although, in a real fight if someone throws a kick at 100% you would be struck making your counter ineffective if you didn't check. Real fight is a lot different than sparring.
if he dont turn his left foot hes knees is going to have problems because if your left foot dont turn the knee is resisting and with one kick dosnt happen nothing but one you have 10000 kicks you will see!
dude you will never develop real power in your kicks without properly pivoting on your left foot when you strike - your foot must pivot every time - you are not doing this in much of you demo.. thanks for posting though ..
in real fight u dont pivot your feet much , only a bit to gain explosivness , if pivot it alot u wont be able to make combo ... this guy is actually pretty good
@Telepcanin you will be able to make a combo, if you do it quick enough. Say you throw a right hook and pivot all the way and charge it up then throw a left jab then right jab. See easy combo
@Telepcanin Actually in a real fight you do want to pivot as much as you can. The bounce back from hitting the person is enough to throw a combo. And especially when you're teaching it you want to exaggerate that pivot which one would know if they ever really take a muay thai class. And this guy isn't even covering his face with his other hand. I'd would just check his weak ass kick then throw a cross right into his face. People should know what theyre talkin about before tryin to teach anyone.
@DaPhillosophizer you really don´t know who is this guy.of course he is not covering his face,in his videos (watch them all & you will learn something) he is always saying "this is just to practice the movement, but inside a ring ..." oh,and if you want a to see a powerfull LHK without too much enphasis in pivoting watch an old mirko crocop fight,he turns his foot just 20 degrees or maybe less
@Telepcanin yes talk about it with bass rutten ? and his power low kicks he knocked many opponents out with this and he turned his feet and if you not pivot your feet there is no power like if you pivot and you can seriously injure yourself
@Telepcanin You cant decide if you pivot or not everbody has a different fighting style, bas rutten for example had devestating kicks because of his pivoting
@AdeptusCustode i wanted to know what pivoting meant but now i think u mean turn? yeah u right i turn my foot while kicking too we learn that in yi quan dao^^
@etherform66 let's see you do better faggot i mean he was clearly pivoting i dont know what you saw but im sure you were drunk when writing your comment
you can drop the arm that is on the same side like your back-leg, but you have to pull the shoulder up and bring the opposite arm infront of your face so that you cover your face with the opposite hand, cover your chin with the shoulder. But you are right, one should not drop the arms down like he does.
yeah good point. If I was sparring this guy and he droped his hands like this with a low kick it would be easy to hit him. I dont like how he demonstrates techniques with open hands its annoying. Train like u fight.
I agree, if your technique is open while training...it will most definitely be similar when you are in a fight situation; and clever fighters are so good at exploiting those weaknesses that they will wait and counter at every single open occasion.
