Welcome to the bible thumpin', sister bangin', bill-billy southern states of 'merica!
Where we are hated by non-christians, but can't find any proof of it or remember the last time we were discriminated against on our vague/quasi belief in the variable teachings of a jewish carpenter who wanted us to hate the gays and keep our guns.
I am glad I live on the west coast, where most of this shit is taken with a big fuckin' grain of salt.
How can people be so ignorant to think that the U.S. was founded on christanity? especially a teacher? I'm not even from the U.S. (I'm from Canada) and I thought it was common knowledge to mostly everyone that the U.S was founded on the principle of freedom of/ from religion. Pretty pathetic that people don't even know the basic history of their own country.
i love when christians say i would show them the bible the bible is why im a atheist the god of the bible has to be the most evil ruler ever in mankind i real think people should read the bible cover to cover befor they start talking about how great it is
I've even experienced religious coercion at my University, just this semester a professor asked my class to bow our heads in a "moment of prayer", a fellow student then proceeded to ask God to help us through the end of the semester and to cure the T.A.'s mother--who had had a heart attack. No matter how entrenched or ignorant such assumptions are, while I'm still living in this--no pun intended--godforsaken place, I'm going to do my best to fight like hell ; )
Not to mention the sanctity with which they begin every school day during the "moment of silence". As for discrimination, Bible Belt Christians have a deep sense of entitlement when it comes to the distribution of social power, and any infringement upon their mob authority is viewed as nothing less than discrimination against them.
Believe me these southerners know they can pray in school, as a lifelong resident of the Bible Belt I've known many public school teachers similar to the one interviewed here. Their religious beliefs were often openly discussed in the classroom and more than once they asked "those in the classroom who want to" to pray. Prayer is capable of curing all kinds of social ills in the South, including atheism, which is more-or-less a disease in the eyes of the pious.
@eyeofthesquirrel Separation of church and state says that as a teacher, a worker for the government, you cannot instruct children to pray in publicly paid schools. Even if that is what everyone and their dog wants; can't happen.
Read the United States of America's Bill of Rights. Having trouble finding them? Article I and Article XI both state that the government should not and will not respect any religion in a government building. The latter was written by George Washington, for that reason.
gee, the christians feel discriminated against bechsoe they are not given special rights. even when i was christian, i knew that christians had it easy. buddhist, hindus and muslims hardly get any public knowledgment and are ofther shuned against. in politics there are hardly any other people in goverment then christians. and very ofthen these religions are show bad light. christians get all jumpy when they dont get special rights.
the ladys face at 6:50 IS the her real answer. look at the disgust. look how shes tryin to find a way to word it so she doesnt sound like a downright bitch.
they still think they cant pray in school huh? if only they knew they fucking can. they only lost the ability to FORCE everyone to pray. teachers cant make the class pray. a prayer cant be read on the loudspeaker. other than that pray all the fuck you want.
Its like if a child wants a toy you cant afford and you get him something cheaper and he simply throws a fit and wont play with the toy because he didnt get exactly what he wanted. christians pray all you want in school but leave us alone.
oh, by the way our founding fathers were mostly atheist, deist, and scientists and didn't like religion much. I recommend actually reading up on america's history.
our public is lied to so much it makes me want to throw up
oh please, Christians are not being discriminated against. they just don't have the strangle hold they used to have on the US govenment. Sorry.. but thats not the same thing, you might want to look the word up in the dictionary (or more notably examples from a history text book).
theres a lot of truth to what atheist are saying, even though you don't like the way it sounds. it's not like we are upset for no reason <_<
Holy shit; all of these people together have about as much sense as a bag of hammers, and they're about as interesting as a 5 pound bag of fertilizer.
Is it just me, or do the "agnostic" and the granddaughter look rather uncomfortable answering.
Also, I don't see how Christianity not getting special status is discrimination. Poor Christians no longer get to decide what is alright for everyone else. Boo hoo hoo.
man, i had all kinds of things to say about this video, but my frustraion and enthusiasm to argue about religion has diminished with age.theres nothing that can be said that hasnt already been said. :-(
that one girl at 5:25 I can tell is scared... if you watch her face, It shows that the grandma, or mother is the boss, the young girl does not have a mind of her own...
LOL...that one Pentecostal woman....said that it seems contradictory to deny the existence of something, as if talking about something imagined made it real. He should have asked if not believing in Tinkerbell made Tinkerbell real.
