  • muscle cars have never died

  • Question for the experts... has anyone put one of these cherry bombs on a 1988 volvo 740 with the 2.0 engine? It sounds really boomy with the stock exhaust on there (it has no catalytic converter, never has done)

  • @leoscamera per my understanding, perforated glasspacks can be installed either way. Louvered ones should be installed so the air flows over the louvers, not into them. I've been told installing a louvered one backwards reducing flow.

  • i have a cherry bomb on my 68 catalina f/b... its been on there for about 15 years... never taking it off even after it rusts away.

  • cherry bomb invented the glasspack and they make the worst ones

  • i have good old cherry bomb under my 89 ford mustang i put on myself

  • hell yeah long live the glasspack got one put on my truck yesterday

  • just so you know they probaly but that "flowmaster" on backwards to look good on camera.

  • @DeanMLFlame

Nope, they were both put on the same way. If it was backwards, you'd be able to tell on camera...

  • i've done glasspack swaps on two 305chevy trucks, both cut off right behind the cat with a 2.5"glasspack dumped out the side, and one on a durango r/t 5.9l but just replaced the muffler and left the rest of the exhaust so it looks stock, one on a 2l KIA sprtage, it was a little silly but sounds kinda cool, and I have a cherrybomb turbo on my van. theres a vid if anybody wants to check it out

  • Get them good and hot then hose them down with a garden hose after each trip for a couple months....they'll burnout and sound a hell of alot better IMO.

  • I bet the other exhaust was magnaflow

  • @skatepunkzero it looked like a flowmaster, maybe a super 40?

  • @crazykincardineite probably , I know Im buying a glasspacks

  • where can i see the full episode?

  • I have glasspacks on my 69 stepside and I love em but I really like purple hornies

  • what was that tv clip from?

  • what is the name of the movie on 1:21 ?

  • @bctusu the california kid

  • 3:27

    MIATA!

  • all the car shows on tv are fun to watch, but really they are just a 30 min. commercial

  • Lol that was a flowmaster super series muffler

  • what movie is that from @ 1:21?

  • i bought a muffler that looks like a glasspack, i dont think it is, it is not strait through like all the ones i have seen i saw one on google it didnt say it was a glasspack it just said it was a high performance muffler it has 2 baffles in it the muffler shop guy said that they dont have to be strait through to be loud as fk he said that it will get the cops to chace me i just want to know if it is a glasspack or not

  • @countryboyG

i've run glasspacks on everything i've owned, in single and dual exhaust applications, and i've never been "chased by the cops" sounds like your exhaust guy either is trying to scare you away from glasspack mufflers, or doesnt know himself, is their a manufacturer name and model number stamped into the casing anyware? you might be able to look the muffler up by this manufacturer number just my .02

  • @jeeper426 haha my muffler guy was just kidding he just ment it will be really loud hes a good friend but no it dont have any numbers or anything on it i posted a video of what it looks like and stuff so you can go to my profile and check it out or whatever

  • @countryboyG commented on your vid, kinda looks like a tractor muffler we used to sell at atwoods, i know a guy that put a pair of em' under a '55 chevy he built and it sounded sweet, i had true dual glasspacks on a 4.3 that i swapped into a cherokee, and it sounded good as well, so, try it out, as i left the comment, WKS just knock out the sheet metal devider, good luck

  • The competitor looked like a Thrush welded muffler.

  • hey the company i work 4 cuts all the steel used 4 those mufflers and tubing, n i ship it

  • i have cherry bombs on my old 66 mustang

  • Flowmaster sucks, everyone has them, cherry bombs extreme sound like old school muscle car, that's what I have on my 06 GT,and nothing beats the sound,iv'e listend to alot of sound file's ,the only other one I like is the SLP also.

  • @GMurphSC06GT Wow first time I seen this video, there's the proof, that cherry bomb out flowed the competition, and it looked to me like a flowmaster.Great video, love my cherry bomb extreme's.

  • the best thing about the true cherry bomb straight mufflers is the burbling sound after you get off of the gas and let it go back to idle

  • Except for the sound, Flowmaster sucks more than I thought. Cherry Bombs and Magnaflow for the win.

  • Would be awesome if they came out with 3.5 inch bolt on header mufflers with built in turndowns. Something akin to the purple horney for big block motors. Can't seem to find anything anywhere.

  • Back in the day we bought Thrush mufflers, cuz they were cheap and loud. I don't think they had any fiberglass in them like Cherry Bombs.

  • Lol I put a cherry bomb on my grandpa sonoma, it was guuuuuutless with a capital G before, now it's drivable. Definitely putting two on my stinkin Lincoln. :)

  • after seeing that flow bench i think im going for cherry bomb..

  • What movie is that?

  • It was called The California Kid.

  • @Cigaretteboatsrule Thank you!

  • I bought a '69 Dodge Dart 340 Swinger new off the show room floor. While the duals had a decent sound, it wasn't throaty enough for me. I ran through three sets of after market glass packs, i.e., Scat Cats (they sucked, had a hissing sound caused by the baffles); Cherry Bombs and Big Daddy glass packs from Midas Muffler. Both of the latter were decent sounding and rapped off really nice with tail pipes. They wouldn't rap off without tail pipes.

  • stacy david lives really close to me its awesome he has worked on my truck with me before

  • 3 in flowtech purple hornies right hear! =]

  • I love my Cherry Bombs...

  • How can you even compare old school glass packs to modern day mufflers? Thats like comparing a 30's hot rod to a modern day counterpart .. sure the old school is fun, but things have gone ahead so far

  • what was so bad about strights??

  • Thanks dude finally, someone on my side of the Cherry Bomb vs. Mangnaflops

  • so thats where he went... i haven't seen this guy since trucks on powerblock!! glad to see that hes doing alright!

  • Iwas surprised too,I think gears is on espn2,its one of those channels.

  • Ya its on Speed TV

  • i got stebro exhaust with cherry bombs on my 1990 audi coupe quattro.. its actually getting installed as we speak.. hope it sounds good =)

  • It's just a glasspack. No better.

  • I just put some on my 1993 Ford Escort and now it sounds like a damn dragster lol

  • I have one on my (just wait) Subaru forester, it sounds so sweet! not ricey at all, just nice a throaty on the way to skiing, I like it because it sounds great at 2-2.5 grand. and then again over 4. so normal driving is legal, getting on it uphill with the motor warm? awesome

  • i bet it sounds wicked, foresters sound with stock exhaust, I'm running one on a 84 bronco with 4.11 gears, always pulling high rpms

  • is that a stang

  • NIce movie shot of the California Kid.... ;)

  • but for the price, glasspacks cant be beat, flowmasters are good if you have a big budget. Glass pack averages 22 bucks, flowmasters average 90

  • Glasspacks in general, but cherry bombs are through the roof, and flowmasters are proven performers,& must create way more torque than glasspacks. And flowmasters can be near silent til you get on it,good for not attracting cops like flys. You get what you pay for.

  • I am a cop and a motorhead, I know the sound of a glasspack vs flowmaster. Flowmaster has a distinctive sound regardless, although flowmaster is quieter on idle.

You do get whay you pay for though, flowmaster is more about improving the flow and sound where glasspacks are more about sound.

  • @icepicjoey flowmasters dont flow as well as they say at flowmaster.......magnaflows or borla is way WAY better. and did you see at the and of that video? even the cherry bomb muffler flowed much much better.

  • I seen dyno sheets fom a muffler test, flowmaster super 40s made more power and torque than whatever magnaflow bullshit was tested,I dont remember seeing borla up in the top 5 I dont think. And spintech outperformed them all.And borla & fagnaflow sound like shit.

  • @icepicjoey Yea but theres no comparison in sound.

  • @icepicjoey Thrush Welded mufflers go on sale all the time at Summit for 25 bones.

  • @icepicjoey i hate the sound of flowmasters ,they sound like somebody is yelling in a drain pipe.

  • any real hot rodder will know that cherry bombs weren't the first performance mufflers, smitty mufflers were the first glass pack performance mufflers back in the 50's. they looked like cherry bombs but they were blue.

  • 1:27 missin a spark plug wire ahahha

  • lol thats funny "flow master"

" who is this?...oh we cant show that haha "

  • Was my 1st muffler. I had a civic si and the stocker ruster out. Cherry Bomb was $15. Car sounded great. I went to work a 5am and never left 1st gear through town. 6000rpm all the way. Ger R Done

  • Too bad straight style mufflers like Glasspacks are illegal here in Canada. Doesn't stop people from using them though, Today I saw some Civic with a straight fart can literally attached to the bumper in plain sight.

  • Uhhh...Dude...They're more legal here than the U.S. And...glasspacks aren't pure straight pipes.

  • "7.03 (1) A motor vehicle propelled by an internal combustion engine shall be equipped with an exhaust muffler consisting of a series of pipes or chambers which ensures that the exhaust gases from the engine are cooled and expelled without excessive noise."

That's a BC law, and I know Ontario is slightly stricter. Unsure of other provinces but I doubt it's any less strict. It doesn't really matter though considering you're guilty until proven innocent if a cop gives you a ticket.

  • no there actually not.... I dont know where you live but there not here, on a side note he left trucks for this, although he seems better on this than trucks xD

  • ive got one on my car and i live in ontario there ilegal but ive had mine for 5 month and ive had no problems

  • wut ontario cali? or canada cuz i live in ontario california

  • im in canada. i think cali laws are more pushy about exhaust systems arent they

  • Just put dual cherrybombs on my 78 Ford ltd II..it sounds awesome with my 351 modified.

  • Cherrybomb is definately my next exhaust setup. The car is - 1996 impala SS :)

  • hah, that looked like the flowmaster muffler i just bought that they tested..

  • i work for cherry bomb and it is a flowmaster

  • I just got one today. Awesome!

  • my only problem with glasspacks is idiots in crx's with fartin around with glasspacks and think it sounds good. i had some on my 1964 impala ss sounded awesome

  • Cherrybomb glasspacks are the best or just any glasspack in general. They are $20 and gives good performance. Flowmasters are $90 a muffler so if you had a dual exhaust system i'd cost you $180 just for mufflers! I'd cost you $40 for dual glasspacks and better flow.

  • are they illegal

  • only in cali

  • WOW really there not illegal anywhere

  • Comment removed

  • isnt it legal to install a muffler as long its not over 95 Dbs? why is it the glass pack available in CA??? at the parts stores.

  • depend on the state i believe,

  • because they could be used for racing or non-street use, but that doesn't mean you can't use them

  • i get to build these for a livin alove it

  • cherry bomb never died out, I bought some in 2002

  • A great part in history

  • cherry bombs sound badass on a 350 chevy SOUNDS LIKE OLD HOTRODS

  • Not to sound like an idiot, but what size glasspack would give me a nice loud deep growl. I want to put one on my 3.9l 1994 dodge dakota with no catalytic converter. If someone could tell me it would be much appreciated.

  • AndIChange 18'' glasspacks sounds really nice , or even the 24s but the 12'' is to loud if u drive in cities

  • Comment removed

  • exhausts give

    more power

    less weight

    better soundbetter mileage and emissions

    good look

and u can modify the exhausts too.

way more than just three things

  • God bless these guys for bringing cherry bomb back from the grave. Another reason why I love American Muscle cars,SUVs, and pickup trucks!!!

  • U nas to sie nazywa tłumik przelotowy ;)

  • Well if its good enough for Stacy David's ride (probably on one of his), then by golly its good enough for mine, 1985 Chevy K5 Blazer 350 (from a '97 Tahoe)...

  • I don't know why Cherry Bombers would ever die out...

  • Stacy David is toooooooooooooooooo kool

  • i got a 1999 dodge ram 1500. i want to buy glass packs but idk if i should get dual or single message me with ur opinion..

  • I'd go dual with an x-pipe. I had 'true' duals going out each side on my old GMC, it sounded kinda like two 4-cylinders at once.

  • Damn it, I wana see the paint job thing haha. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • What was the movie at 1:13?

  • the california kid, with martin sheen

  • Will these boost the horsepower on a 1994 mustang gt? Im getting 2 of them

  • they should since it flows like crazy

  • It should gain horsepower, but you might lose a bit of torque if they have less backpressure than the stock ones.

  • so what brand of muffler was that, they didn't say the name during the test. Looked like flowmaster to me. flows are famous for the sound but now maybe not flow. maybe change their name to soundmaster. but still i dont care for the cherrybomb/glasspack sound. they flow better but you lose the lumpy idle. unless you have a large cam in your motor. flowmasters are more like a sound box i guess.

  • Great history there! :) Jack

  • Ha ha, My olds 87 cutlass came with glass packs from the factory. It looks like a regular oval muffler from the outside, but its just straight through, but shorter than the cherry bombs. The ones I have are pretty silent at idle....until you floor it. Ha ha...As a matter of fact, I think they came from a "walker" stock exhaust catalog.

  • i used to have a 78 grand prix 301 true duals with glass packs. id be running threw town in 2nd and wind it up tight and let off and hear it pop and crack i loved it!!!

  • got a victory 8-ball .. put glass packs on it .. cut mufflers off after flange.. cut one end off glass packs .. mig welded together..sprayed mufflers w/ black engine paint .. looks cool .. doesnt sound like a bike .. has a muted power sound at idle .. when u lay into it it has a sound i can only describe as like a ferrrari at redline .. sounds like a wild motor when its mostly stock .. luv my glasspacks

  • id like to see how a cherrybomb glasspack flows,, just to know the number.. all 5 digits of it

  • Bye bye flows, im getting me some cherry bombs big time for my crusher. =0)

ps. check out my skull crusher

  • nice video!

  • WOOHOO I put a Cherry bomb glasspack on my 96 saturn and i love it! It didn't make it sound very ricey, which I was scared of cuz it's only a 1.9liter lol

  • Damnn theat vid says alot hmmm kinda can tell what they were judging on..kinda makes me wonder exactly how much flow i really get from those flow masters!!!

  • A 2 1/2" Flowmaster Super 40's only flow 420 C.F.M.@20.5P.S.I. A 2 1/2" Dynomax Super Turbo muffler flows 410 C.F.M.@20.5 P.S.I. Thats not even there Ultra Flows! They flow 1000 C.F.M.@20.5 P.S.I. I keep saing @20.5 P.S.I. because at 10.5 P.S.I. the industry standard for flow testing carbs A 2 1/2" super 40's only flows 223 C.F.M. On a duel exhaust system thats only 446 C.F.M. A Chevy 350 With a stock rebuild and stock heads can flow 608 C.F.M. Thats better than stock exhaust. Just Barely!!!

  • i have flowtec glasspacks on my chevy truck (350). and my buddy put some cherrybombs on his ford truck (has a 400m) and mine sound alot better. but its probably cause the 400m sucks at everything. but just to look cool i stole the cherrybomb sticker off his truck and put it on mine. glasspacks are the best

  • lol, that was a flowmaster. lolz

  • Was that clip with the hot rodder gettin pulled over by the cop from a movie? If it was what movie? PS glasspacks rule but Smithys were actually the first true performance muffler.

  • thats an awsome movie called the california kid with a very young martin sheen, check out my gp it has glass packs

  • that muffler that was like 45 percent was thrush turbo. they suck

  • My buds got dual Thrush turbos on his 55 Chevy with a built 327 and 3" pipes and that thing will blow your fuckin eardrums. They are amazing mufflers for the price. PS I gotta vid of the car on here, search "55 Chevy 327"

  • Awesome all round, it's got perfessional grade fit and finish about my favorite muffler of all time. Sweet. 5/5

  • i had a glasspack on my truck, then i found the extreme, also from cherry bomb, and man it is much louder

  • I've said it for years! Flowmaster don't FLOW!!! They flow just barely more than stock. If you don't believe me go to any other muffler site and check yourself(dynomax)ect.People buy Flowmasters because they sound like Flowmaster. Flowmaster's web site even tells you not to run super40's or 44's in a single tail pipe application, Only in duals! Call them out on the C.F.M. of there mufflers and they will tell you flow has nothing to do with how a Flowmaster works? Really? If thats what you like.

  • Flowmaster Really does'nt flow so well.

  • Schweet! Love Cherry bombs...just replaced my Dronemasters with 'em last week and it was money well spent. Cheap too!

  • need a kit for my X-CAB 4x4!!!

  • nice, vid, ty for posting.
