Over the plate, waist high, as usual. The sad part is, that it seems to me that the Dumb Right (no quotes because that's what they are) is going to repeat the mistake in 2010 and 2012. Let's all hope & pray that those who woke up during the 2008 election season will stay awake and not go back to supporting the mainstream of the GOP. I know the GOP will do the same and possibly worse than Obama and the democratic congress if elected, so I'd rather see this crap be done in the name of liberalism.
Open message to the idiots. Please read a modern economics book. School yourself. The discourse has not only gotten ugly but has reflected negatively on American's knowledge of anything. You're idiots. You don't read. Get with the program. The rest of the world reads, and you don't. It's sad really. You really are that stupid.
I've nearly given up at this point. This commentator is too stupid for words. I remember the day when you used to have to be smart about things to keep talking.
I respect the Southern Avenger in spite of my left of center progressive politics, but the Bush Administration is not leftist at all. But what is bad about today's neoconservative GOP is that it was influenced by the hard left Trotskyite politics which is now neoconservatism today; they just simply took what was bad about the left and combined it with what is bad about the right. There is, however, nothing wrong with "paleoconservatism." They're now fighthing the Trots that entered the GOP.
I agree with your commentary here, SA. We live in a day and age where dissenting views can be commonly found just by watching YouTube. It is almost inexcusable for a conservative, liberal or some other politically-labeled person to get their commentary alone from their local cable outlet. Internet access is rather inexpensive, so to be not so informed as so is worthy of commented on.
The corellating problem then becomes: who does one listen to then?
what was so bad about the clinton admin? I was still in MS-HS when he took office but I remember he drew us outta economic down-turn and also opened several jobs and oppertunities for the people and even left office leaving the US in the 'green' so what did he do that I missed lol
You've never studied antitrust and monopoly laws I'm assuming. There has never been one antitrust case which was preceded by price collusion, price gouging, or a ridiculous market concentration. Monopoly can only exist with the assistance of the State. As for the health care, the US has only had decreasing care since the government's involvement. When people were actually allowed to run their own lives we were much better off. The reporting methods of countries with socialism is odd...
There's more to a country, MUCH more, than statistics on health.
All of the countries you listed, aside from the United States, lack basic freedoms in regards to gun-ownership, self-defense, home-defense, and largely unrestricted free speech and assembly.
I'd rather have my Constitutional rights, and die three years earlier, than live in Canada and have no such freedoms.
Hell, I'd rather die at age 50 in the USA, than live to be 150 if I had to spend those 150 years in the UK or Canada.
If Obama is for socialism how come everyone who actually know their politics and is left wing HATES him as the second worst, most corporate candidate that entered the Democratic race
Still between these two socialisms, one is looking like Stalinism (giving to the few=MccCain) and the other one is looking like socio-liberalism of Northern Europe... it's difficult to accept for real conservvatives but this kind of politics is working and the best educated, happiest people come from these countries where poverty is very limited!
Socialism is working? It's funny because the more we move towards it the more the middle class is eroded and real wealth plummets. I'm not sure where somebody finds such garbage information but its simply not true. Economic calculation cannot occur in a socialist society, if you can explain how it does I'd be amazed.
If the American idea of capitalism is superior to the European "socialist" models, then Americans should be the wealthiest people in the world. But in reality, Norwegians and Swiss are ahead by a fair margin. The Canadians are catching up, and may actually pass us depending on how this economic crisis works out.
The so-called "socialists" are also much healthier and spend much less money on healthcare. But, that's a bit of a different topic.
A different topic may be that the WHO has found yet again US health care is the best in the world. America doesn't have capitalism we haven't had it for a long time and the more we have deviated from it the worse things have gotten. Fiat currency, central banking, artificial rates, ridiculous taxation, antitrust laws, SEC, FTC, Sabarnes-Oxley - this is capitalism? Let me ask you, how does economic calculation occur in socialism?
The WHO actually ranks the U.S.'s healthcare system at number 37. France is ranked number one.
who(DOT)int/inf-pr-2000/en/pr2000-44(DOT)html
Without antitrust laws, an economy would become dominated and regulated by massive corporations. Which is what we have today. Fiat currency, ridiculous taxation, central banking, and artificial rates are nothing more than bad ideas.
Yes, and the wild-west approach to capital markets has really worked out. Let's get one thing straight. Free markets are not necessarily efficient markets. The players in the financial markets are now so skeptical of each other, and yet, so intertwined with each other's destiny, that they are unwilling to lend. Awesome system.
Free markets are the most efficient; the market is constantly updated with new information that can never possibly be calculated or known by other means. Oh we have a wild west capitalist system? Since when? Antitrust, fiat currency, central banking, artificial interest rates, regulation, licensing, FTC, SEC, Sabarnes-Oxley, CRA, a 35% corporate tax rate. Wow that sounds like wild west capitalism alright!
Would you care to amend your previous comment now? I see you listed a series of controls. Where are those controls now? And by the way, the effective tax rate for corporations is WAY below 35%. They don't pay it.
Why would I amend it? All those are alive and well and to say corporations don't pay ridiculous taxes is just delusional. Look at what they pay in the US with the rest of the world there are only a handful that are higher than us; most being dictatorships and other lovely places to live.
Just from this I can tell you've never read a financial statement. Have fun in lala land. I expect to see you at a Sarah Palin rally soon. Please wake up. Just do a little research first. you sound incredibly stupid otherwise. I have a lot more respect for the people who admit that this is about large companies shitting on the rest of us.
So anybody who believes we're serfs losing all our freedom (and money) automatically supports Sarah Palin? Don't worry, just keep believing a society that steals all your money, tells you what you can put in your body, and tells you what rights you have is free. I wonder who is in la la land. Corporations can't shit on consumers unless they are propped up by the State; in a free market they would be at the mercy of consumers.
Microsoft's effective tax rate, for instance, is 26%. Microsoft loses more than $1 out of every $4 they make. How is stealing a quarter of a business's profits going to help them create jobs? How is it economically viable? Hell, how is it even moral? Silly fascist.
Microsoft is your best example, a company that makes large margins and whose primary costs are labor. You might be amused to read Bill Gates' actual positions on these matters. He knows that the United States will not remain competitive without an effective education system, health care, etc.
It's an example off the top of my head; there are plenty of corporations that get extorted the same amount in the US. So labor is a majopr cost for them, this is relevant how? I could care less what Bill Gates's positions are. He's a great entrepreneur, but that doesn't mean I would agree with him about advocating centrally planning peoples' lives. The US had a good education system and health care; then the government got involved and they are both more expensive than ever.
> So labor is a majopr cost for them, this is relevant how?
Uh, taxes dummy. Companies that deal with large capital expenditures, say GE or GM, are taxed in a different way than software or consulting firms that are primarily based on human labor. This partly explains why MS's ETR is higher than usual.
So it makes sense to extort people (corporations) more going by how they spend their money? Perhaps if we didn't tax them we wouldn't have companies fleeing out of this debt ridden police state for a place where they can operate more freely. Microsoft could spend that 26 cents on the dollar much better than the moron federal government could; they still can't figure out how to deliver the mail.
The US isn't competitive because the cost to hire a US worker is ridiculously high and of course now the clowns in Washington want to make those costs higher with their foolish cap/trade and health care spending. Our tax rates are ridiculous, and not to mention it's only a matter of time before the entire monetary system goes bust. It's funny that with the $56 trillion unfunded liabilities for SS/Medicare alone there are still idiots that think we can spend even more.
They are not ridiculous. Our tax rate is much lower than most of the industrialised world. Our workers are more expensive due to a higher standard of living (in part possible due to programs fought for and implemented by liberals).
Our taxes are ridiculous. Taxation is nothing more than extortion; it is threatening somebody with future actions for a payment or something else in the present. It's not ok to steal from people at all. Stealing over a quarter of everything that people earn makes them serfs not citizens. Of course you believe that some omniscient bureaucrat can plan all our lives into utopia because you still can't grasp that value is subjective.
A basic understanding of capital theory (Mises or Hayek) would let you comprehend what happens to the process of production during the artificially induced boom and the necessary corrections that must occur in order for growth to ever happen again. Malinvestment must be wiped out, prices must adjust, and a proper production:consumption ratio restored for anybody to have a clue what is a proper way to act for perceived future profitability.
On the issue of debt, considering we are the largest debtor nation in the world, and considering (government numbers, imagine what they actually are!) we have over $99 trillion in unfunded liabilities (Richard Fisher, Dallas Fed) and $56 trillion for Social Security/Medicare alone I am curious as to how you think we are ever going to pay for this without printing the short fall.
Yes, we continue to fund wars and tax breaks for the rich in the face of future debt burdens. I don't like how high it is, I'm still relatively young. But, the time to do this was when we had a surplus, not during the worst recession in recent memory. Your prescription will slow the recovery, and thus limit the amount of revenue the gov can bring in. It's not rational. We don't need these wars, we don't need health care that delivers far too little for what we pay.
Tax breaks are not the problem, out of control spending is. When America ushered in fascism during the 1930s it became readily apparent that the spending would keep increasing to drastic heights. How does stealing less from people slow a recovery? We're in this situation from too much inflation, too much borrowing, and too much consumption. What should we do, inflate more, borrow more, and spend more?
It seems in this election "we're damned if we do and damned if we don't". I'm leaning toward staying home and saving the gas it would take to go vote.
I can't believe I'm agreeing with you because on a gut level I find you despicable avenger but its true The major difference between the two candidates is that one wants socialism for the masses while the other wants socialism for the elite.
lol... u find SA despicable?!!??!!.... I know u have to make total nonsense in this country to be taken serously. So I guess it makes sense that you find SA despicable.
There are aspects of socialism that facilitate capitalism... the same can be said of vice versa. Capitalism is chaos, socialism is control. Neither can be maintained.
your first point is true to some degree. But capitalism is not what we have here in the united states and it's been that way for a long time, at least since the 1929 stock crash. Capitalism itself is not chaos, it's merely regulation of the capital and economy through market forces, which is natural and gives a moreso realistic picture of the economy, based on which the average guys can be players and hence have capital and buying power. therefore capitalsim is the antithesis to chaos&confusion
"such naivete has become increasingly harder to defend"
Yes, it's getting harder and harder to defend, or comprehend, your average "rank-and-file, conservative Republican voter" like the majority of South Carolina.
What is it about South Carolina anyway? That special thing that makes SC, SC? I'm torn between ignorance, hatred, and cruelty. I guess it's a package deal.
The more I look at the Republican direction the more it seems headed toward a soft fascism - a government run by or overly influenced by special interests groups/corporations.
These people have told you that they run 'America'; and your answer? YES. The media likes what you're doing. The government likes the spell of the Republican/Democrat dance, the switching from supposed 'ideologies'; it's their best trick, to make you think you're getting what you want, to think you're getting choice, for a gradual smooth transition. For them.
Any proclivity towards 'conservatism' locks your vote for John. Among 'two' the only choice is a third. Or you're throwing your vote.
The Democrat party used to be a party of the 'poor'; that is no longer the case; same with the Republican, with its ideals. You supposedly voted for conservatism. Now it's a vote for 'ME'. A little bit of ideology is thrown in for 'conservatives'; now really we're just voting against the Democrats, for Palin's pretty face, and Obama's jig on 'Ellen'. Both parties, if you look closely, have made it a vote for government. Rich? Powerful? Good luck. You're going to have to be :)
Ron Paul is endorsing Chuck Baldwin. This revolution will require that we all become leaders. Ron Paul is just the beginning... he is a true patriot. Where are you? It is time we step up to the plate. Join campaign for liberty! Look for it online.
Good point, SA. Youth and parental pedantry accounts for much. And that's factored in. Way over the top my royal behind. These are not your parents' Republicans. Truth, justice and the 'American way' trumps party -- and as long as we're voting for the contray for any excuse, party, etc., then we are to be held accountable. What the Republican party stood for doesn't matter.
I agree with a lot of your opinions SA, but, I don't believe McCain or Obama are socialist unless your definition of socialism is any representive constitutional government of, by, and for the people.
I'm not sure if you've read any Marx lately, but given the globalization of the last 30 years, it makes for very interesting reading.
really faces or real solutions and keep America weak & divided. Why dont they stop trampling on the constitution? Is this really a choice? Vote 3rd Party! Reject collectivism!
Barak the Marxist or McCain the warmonger. Violence here and/or abroad hmmm. I looked at their agendas and realized that they are the same. Keep the unconstitutional patriot act, keep our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan, keep spending money abroad, police the world, oppress Iran and the middle east (why dont they start with dictatorships), I will protect American interests wouldnt that be life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for all men, they don't talk about the problems our economy really
Well, they are funded by many of the same people who apply their interests. Their funders hedge their bets by funding both of them and influencing both. They also both have to gain popular support of the masses - who are of course the same people. They both have to appease the media. So there isn't likely to be so much difference.
Capitalism is requiring the largest Socialistic intervention in history of man at this very moment. It could not continue to exist without it. Karl Marx's great tomb "Das Kapital is not about Socialism but about what happens in Capitalism
Capitalism is not what we have today in modern finance. Capital ratio requirements and 'mark to market' accounting rules are imposed on Investment Banks by the government. THIS is why those mortgages are worth 0 today. In reality, they can't be worth zero -- the property the defaulted loan is for is alone is wroth at LEAST .20-.40 cents on the dollar.
I agree about most of the "conservative" voters going for McCain having their heart in the right place as far as wanting the government to become smaller. Or at least not grow as fast as it they believe it will under Obama. But their still wrong.
vote for some one if nothing else write in no confidence! but vote! well not for Obama Or McCain. write yourself in. write your dogs name in but go vote! i am Voting for Chuck Baldwin
funny how the republicans always want to give their candidates such as the Gipper, Maverick, and Barracuda. republicans want corporatism. socialism for corporations.
I've said it the whole time, McCain is, and always has been, the wing man. He did it for Bush, now he's doing it for Obama. you republicans are going to lose, no doubt, but if you all pick a third party, you may force the party to stop picking RINO's for candidates. and even Nader is more conservative than McCain, thesouthernavenger said so himself before McCain clinched the nomination.
Unfortunately the "brand" of socialism these two candidates advance is one that only benefits corporate CEOs and criminals on wall street. If taxpayers are to pay for a socialist government I'd rather it be a Swedish style one that has benefits for the average citizen.
Taxpayers get to bailout wall street but can't get health care, decent education, or any of the other "good parts" of socialism that the Swedes are getting. It's like we're skipping socialism and moving straight to Communism.
Can Obama REALLY "destroy" this country, though? I mean, if we accept that he's not experienced or qualified, how competent will he be as a president? Not very. And he certainly isn't a leader and has no balls. He caved so quickly on that Reverend Wright bullshit it's hardly funny.
I agree another great speach by the SA. I just hope he knows that he will be one of the first to be given a free trip to the Fema Camp! We all need to rise and stop the insanity now before it goes to far.
You're saying that the leadership of the Democratic and Republican parties "are intent on destroying (the country)" ?
As for citizens being duped, I think that's a crock. My experience is that most Americans don't have an active interest in what happens past the end of their driveways. By that I mean they have no interest in finding out about issues and determining how best they should be tackled, but rather they prefer to be given a list of pre-cooked choices, like at a fast food restaurant.
A good point, but I would argue that it's not lack of interest, but rather people are just lazy asses and here your fast food analogy works very well. Spoon fed politics, with the major globalist issues permiating both red and blue. The globalist agenda will be the nail in our countries coffin. I have many Republican friends that do not research both sides in politics because they are content in being partisan zombies.
I take it on as my duty to inform them how bad both McCain and Obama are but they chose cognitive dissidence. I think Obama is less of a patsy than McCain because he is more intelligent, but as Ventura would say, "the lesser of two evils is still evil".
Once again another great commentary by the southern avenger. Keep up the good work speaking the truth and upholding TRUE traditional conservative values!
I agree. The S.A. speaks the truth and this is the same reason I gravitate towards people like Jesse Ventura and Ron Paul. I don't agree with Ventura on immigration or Paul on all drugs treated as a medical problem, but Mary J is one exception to the rule among others. S.A. body slams the logic into the mases again.
Truth is, vote Democrat you are a brainwahed moron. Vote Republicn and you are a brainnwashed moron. Vote third party and you are awake. Also an enemy of the State!

If you want to talk more about healthcare, these are the actual health statistics for the different countries:
United States: child mortality 8 per 1,000; life expectancy (m/f) 75/80; spends $6,347 per person on healthcare (15.2% of GDP)
Canada: child mortality 6 per 1,000; life expectancy (m/f) 78/83; spends $3,452 per person on healthcare (9.8% of GDP)
France: child mortality 5 per 1,000; life expectancy (m/f) 77/84; spends $3,406 per person on healthcare (11.2% of GDP)

On the issue of debt, considering we are the largest debtor nation in the world, and considering (government numbers, imagine what they actually are!) we have over $99 trillion in unfunded liabilities (Richard Fisher, Dallas Fed) and $56 trillion for Social Security/Medicare alone I am curious as to how you think we are ever going to pay for this without printing the short fall.
readthepaper 2 years ago
Yes, we continue to fund wars and tax breaks for the rich in the face of future debt burdens. I don't like how high it is, I'm still relatively young. But, the time to do this was when we had a surplus, not during the worst recession in recent memory. Your prescription will slow the recovery, and thus limit the amount of revenue the gov can bring in. It's not rational. We don't need these wars, we don't need health care that delivers far too little for what we pay.
able421 2 years ago
Tax breaks are not the problem, out of control spending is. When America ushered in fascism during the 1930s it became readily apparent that the spending would keep increasing to drastic heights. How does stealing less from people slow a recovery? We're in this situation from too much inflation, too much borrowing, and too much consumption. What should we do, inflate more, borrow more, and spend more?

There are aspects of socialism that facilitate capitalism... the same can be said of vice versa. Capitalism is chaos, socialism is control. Neither can be maintained.
Saladin126 3 years ago
your first point is true to some degree.

MarkBH70 3 years ago

MarkBH70 3 years ago
i know you are mad at the republicans, but you're getting way over the top. You havent made an anti-liberal video in months

This is a video about liberal Republicans. Having an "R" in front of your name doesn't make you any less liberal. I expect it from the Dems.

Republican politics at the moment reminds me of Mussolini's Corporatism/socialism. I could go as far as labelling it National Socialism.

Barak the Marxist or McCain the warmonger. Violence here and/or abroad hmmm. I looked at their agendas and realized that they are the same. Keep the unconstitutional patriot act, keep our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan, keep spending money abroad, police the world, oppress Iran and the middle east (why dont they start with dictatorships), I will protect American interests wouldnt that be life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for all men, they don't talk about the problems our economy really
faanunu 3 years ago
Well, they are funded by many of the same people who apply their interests. Their funders hedge their bets by funding both of them and influencing both. They also both have to gain popular support of the masses - who are of course the same people. They both have to appease the media. So there isn't likely to be so much difference.
deliciousonionsoup 3 years ago
Capitalism is requiring the largest Socialistic intervention in history of man at this very moment. It could not continue to exist without it. Karl Marx's great tomb "Das Kapital is not about Socialism but about what happens in Capitalism
20mmnagler 3 years ago
Capitalism is not what we have today in modern finance. Capital ratio requirements and 'mark to market' accounting rules are imposed on Investment Banks by the government. THIS is why those mortgages are worth 0 today. In reality, they can't be worth zero -- the property the defaulted loan is for is alone is wroth at LEAST .20-.40 cents on the dollar.

I've said it the whole time, McCain is, and always has been, the wing man. He did it for Bush, now he's doing it for Obama. you republicans are going to lose, no doubt, but if you all pick a third party, you may force the party to stop picking RINO's for candidates. and even Nader is more conservative than McCain, thesouthernavenger said so himself before McCain clinched the nomination.
iTellYouNoLie 3 years ago 2

IKSDoomie 3 years ago
You're saying that the leadership of the Democratic and Republican parties "are intent on destroying (the country)" ?
As for citizens being duped, I think that's a crock. My experience is that most Americans don't have an active interest in what happens past the end of their driveways. By that I mean they have no interest in finding out about issues and determining how best they should be tackled, but rather they prefer to be given a list of pre-cooked choices, like at a fast food restaurant.
FunnyHedger 3 years ago

Keep up the good work speaking the truth and upholding TRUE traditional conservative values!
mark23socom 3 years ago
I agree. The S.A. speaks the truth and this is the same reason I gravitate towards people like Jesse Ventura and Ron Paul. I don't agree with Ventura on immigration or Paul on all drugs treated as a medical problem, but Mary J is one exception to the rule among others. S.A. body slams the logic into the mases again.
