@mylittlekittens The Church allows NFP for grave reasons. When used correctly NFP is actually more effective that condoms. Being open to life does not mean you have to have as many children as your body can handle. It is up to each married couple to discern if they can support more children, not just physically but financially, mentally, and spiritually as well. You can space your children, just do it the moral way (NFP) and not the immoral way (artificial contraception).

@100PercentCatholic NFP plus condoms can surely decrease fertility. They can break, but frequently do not. Makes a relationship less like Russian Roulette when one can possibly conceive a child unintentionally, effecting ones emotional health and long term survival.

I agree that the pill is bad. Condoms are wonderful and natural too. They are tidy and do not interfere with a woman's hormones. They also make if possible that every woman's body does NOT have to be a sperm receptacle. God does not want us to have more children than we can responsibly take care of.

Couples who do not interfere with the sex act by using contraception share a deep bond with one another and are much less likely to divorce. I agree that God does not want us to have more children than we can responsibly take care of. But would God ever give you more than you can handle? Could God make a mistake by choosing to breathe life into you?

It can actually be a "turn on" and permit the wife to enjoy relations during her ovulation stage when she is the most receptive to her husband. Satisfaction, which is the opposite of frustration, can strengthen the intimacy bond. Also, there should only be two in the bedroom. It can be inhibiting knowing that GOD is watching every little thing that you do.

@mylittlekittens What you think is natural and what God thinks is natural are different things. God is the creator of sex, and He gets to tell us how to use it. He never wanted any type of inhibitor in the sexual process, such as latex or any type of sheepskin. This has been the constant 2,000-year-old teaching of the Catholic Church that all other Christian denominations agreed with until about 1930. God does not change his mind because the morals of society change.

@100PercentCatholic I was raised Catholic. I would not endorse something that I did not actually use, for instance NFP, to someone whose life depended on it. Many people cannot physically survive leaving their chances of getting in the family way of to God's will. God does not come out of the sky when one needs emergency child care. Are you a guy?

@mylittlekittens Proverbs 3:5 - “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not.” You seem to be having trouble doing that. Would God not provide somehow? Is coming down from the sky the only way he can provide? Could he not bless you with a better job so you can afford day care? How could any Christian say they put their faith in God EXCEPT when it comes to fertility? There are no exception clauses. You either have faith in God or u don't. I'm a guy btw.

Many people that comment on the Catholic position on birth control are typically the married ones, who have many years of responsible parenting left for their already born children.

@EqualAndFree A priest knows what he is getting in to before he becomes a priest. If he doesn't think he can go his whole life being celibate, then he should not become one. Also, celibacy of priests is not a dogma of the faith. Many people have trouble distinguishing between dogmas, truths revealed to us by Jesus, and religious practice.

@EqualAndFree I don't believe for one second that the sex abuse scandals are caused by celibacy. I live a celibate life because I am not married and I promise you I have no desire to molest children.
