HOW kiske can be better when he make... only keepers? you base his abilities only on keepers, and 2 tours. while Bruce have toured since 1979 (since Samson era) and didn't stopped (solo touring + Iron Maiden). and Kiske is terrible songcomposer. his solo stuff is made for pop maniacs and radio fans. and Bruce? always rock and always will rock. You can't just CAN'T compare someone who was in metal max 5 years to living legend like Bruce.

@OathBird when i say prefer kiske's personality or character, it's just my opinion . besides, heard many songs of dickinson's solo album with Roy Z for example. and i didn't say i didnt like them. i did but if iron maiden songs get 10/10 his solo album gets like 7.5-8/10 .. Hansen or Weikath wrote. Without Helloween or people better than him (maybe thats why he is in Unisonic with Hansen, he's too bad to lead band alone) he's nothing. He is meant only to sing that someone wrote and played for him. He have only nice voice and few skills... thats all. When Bruce give everything he have, produce as much as he can, while being just awesome,amazing,super,gigant vocalist without being trained to be one.

it depends about which Bruce solo song you say. It's honestly a little bit worse than Brave New World etc, but still we got album like Chemical Wedding or Accident of Birth. We got ~~12 tracks, 1/2 are slow, somewhat ok, 4 are worth of listening and sticking to playlist, 3 are cool, but somewhat you want others, another 3 are masterpieces.
@OathBird You 're just blabbing. Kiske's abilities are even better displayed on Pink Bubbles Go Ape & Chameleon than on the Keepers. He also toured for all 4 Helloween albums he recorded. Bruce always rocks? I guess you forgot Skunkworks & Balls To Picasso! As a songwriter sure Kiske is not the best but the same goes for Bruce. His best solo albums are both co-written with Smith & RoyZ. Besides Revelations & Powerslave Bruce only co-wrote songs in Maiden. Bruce is only a better showman

Bruce had the most complete musical career, there's no comparison, he was the vocalist of the most famous metal band! He is also an ok songwriter and an amazing showman. But this is a "vocal" comparison and Kiske is just a better singer!
Kiske wrote many bad songs. naming one song from whole good album of Picasso. How kiske can be a better singer when first. Singer have to - sing well. sing with feeling, technique, adapt to song, be a showman, UNDERSTAND the song, so he can sing it well, so he have to be not bad WRITER. Kiske only sing well and have nice technique. when Bruce mastered all rest of it. not to mention Bruce can hit more high notes than Kiske, and is older 10 years.

Dickinson always used more falsetto than Kiske did! Some examples: 1:19 and 8:28. How can you tell that it is falsetto: the notes are lighter and not as powerful compared to Bruce's head or chest notes! Falsetto is not a crime, it makes higher singing easier, but Bruce uses it more often!

I am a big fan of both singers, both hectic live performers and they are the king of the power melodic metal vocals in their own league. When Bruce left the band I was so sad but when Kiske came up from the audition, I was very surprised and excited with the idea. Ya me dí cuenta hace rato que Dickinson solo canta en estudio... De hecho Rob Halford tiene más voz que Dickinson. Bruce ocupa muchas computadoras que le arreglan la voz en vivo. @aacugna8 La diferencia está en que Bruce cantaba sin usar falsetto mientras que Kiske abusaba mucho de esta tecnica. Bruce no necesitaba de eso para llegar a hacer agudos, Kiske por el contrario cantaba de forma muy nasal, abusaba del falsetto solo para llegar a los agudos. En ese sentido Bruce gana por paliza. Por otro lado, la voz de Bruce siempre acaba resintiendose por cantar de esta manera durante las giras que llegaban a durar de 10 a 13 meses.
Elijo a Bruce aunque fue una decisión muy dificil, entre Kiske, Bruce, Dio y un poquito mas abajo Halford siempre me quedé con Bruce y segundo Michael... Bruce en vivo jamás ha tenido algún problema en su voz, cosa que con Michael ya pasó varias veces que cuando llega a notas mas altas (cosa que llega a notas mas altas que Bruce) se le patina... pero si, realmente es muy dificil la eleccion
Both have great ranges and perks that give each a unique style and fanbase. Bruce is an epic storyteller and has a varied style of grittyness and opra wails but thins on highs nowadays. Kiske of course has a beautiful clean voice with effortless control on high notes but just lacks Bruce's total range. Both are epic lyricists and songwriters and have an unmatched ability told hold long notes:)

No disappointment whatsoever. As good as Kiske is, and as clean as his vocals are, his voice is not as suitable for the genre. Bruce is the perfect metal front man, and when he sings he can sound powerful, tough, epic, etc... Kiske rarely does, probably due to a poor choice of pitch (e.g. Future World).
@twistedchuckone actuely Bruce left at the end of 93 and returned in 1999. so thats about 4 and half to 5 years away from Iron Maiden. i think he would be good but singers like Geoff Tate, and Eric Adams would have been better

@TrueIronMaidenFan It's fine if you like Bruce More but If you are speaking in terms of vocal quality and clean vocals being the determining factor it would be Kiske. But for the raw gritty heavy metal rock feel and edge it would definitely be Bruce. All in all I prefer Kiske though, no disrespect to Bruce, he is a true legend and a god. I love his voice and he has a really unique metal voice and is more than fantastic. I love Maiden's new album "The Final Frontier", Bruce still sound fantastic.

But I mean he's got that kind of raw gritty feel to him that kind of thing that suits metal and rock more than Kiskes voice. I mean their isn't much of undertone to Kiskes voice, it is more plain than Bruce's. To me Bruce has a more unique feel and most likely was highly influential to Kiske. But I aspire to Kiskes vocals for some reason more than Bruce's. Maybe because Kiske is a lot less known.

@TrueIronMaidenFan Sure Bruce can also sing in a beautiful manner, Kiske just has a sweeter voice. Listen to "Aina - Silver Maiden" or to "Place Vendome - My Guardian Angel (acoustic version)". As i mentioned it all depends on who of the 2 singers you prefer, but Kiske has always been considered as one of the most beautiful voices in metal.
@TrueIronMaidenFan I was talking about vocal quality too. Bruce sounds great on "Son of a Gun" but so does Kiske on "Key To The Universe (Timo Tolkki)" for example. The only thing I give credit to Bruce is that he can sound agressive when he wants. On the other hand, Kiske can sound extremely serene and beautiful using his softer tone as on "Aina - Serendipity" and on "Kiske/Somerville - Silence". Both singers have great vocal colour & a characterisic tone, it just depends on who you like more.

3. This is totally subjective. IMO Bruce's vocal quality is better on his middle range, but Kiske's is better on his high and low range.
The fact that Kiske reaches higher notes than Dickinson doesn't make him better. Actually, I really don't know if he reaches higher notes, he just uses his falsetto more often than Bruce.
But Kiske's voice is so clean and tidy that gets me bored.
Dickinson has the devil inside his throat for basses, mid and highs.
Also, Bruce's voice can fit in much more styles of music than Michael's voice.
For all of this, Bruce is not only better, but the best of all metal singers.
@mgf621 No the fact that Kiske reaches higher notes than Dickinson doesn't make him better, the fact that he is a more technically proficient vocalist does though. You can prefer Bruce for his raspier (1992 onwards) approach, but that doesn't make him better.

As for the best "metal" singer, with 'the devil inside his throat' try DIO! He had the deepest, most powerful and most metal sounding voice, a true god (rip)!
@apati80 Bruce's depth and color are > Kiske's capacity. Kiske reaches a few clean higher keys (although Dickinson has reached cleanly pretty high himself in Quest for Fire and Revelations), whereas Bruce has a much better mid range and (arguably) slightly better lows. Vocal versatility has nothing to do with a singer's willingness to sing different styles,but rather how well he blends in. Kiske is good at that. There aren't many Bruce deviations from his style so there's no good comparison.
@amanloop I agree with regards to Bruce's depth, but Kiske's color/timbre is as unique and strong. Bruce had a better mid range during the 80's, but Kiske had a much more developed head voice and a wider vocal range. Both of them improved their lower singing throughout the years, but Kiske also used and improved his mid range a lot (listen to him on Place Vendome or on Kiske/Somerville), while Bruce weakened on the high stuff. In the end all depends on tastes & preferences.
I'd argue that Bruce still has the most complete range and his mids have actually improved after he left Maiden and he learned how to properly use his voice. I'm not bashing Michael by any means, he's awesome. At the end of the day I agree with you that it all depends on tastes and preferences.

I'm a bigger early Helloween fan than Maiden, but I always thought that Dickinson along with Halford were the genres biggest vocal style influences. Pretty much a whole generation between them :D
I like both. Technically Kiske is better and Helloween songs are a lot harder to sing than Maidens. But yes, Bruce is a better performer and more energetic when singing live.
Kiske is 43, Dickinson is 52. Let me see how these guys sound 24 and 15 years from now when they are 67 years old. In the meantime Dio will remain as the God of the Metal Vocalists.
Kiske has more range and control but Dickinson has a more interesting voice. Kiske just wails but Dickinson tells a story when he sings. Both are awesome any way you look at it, though.

Well Kiske himself has stated that Dickinson is one of his Inspirations for singing and obviously Bruce is in a TREMENDOUS Huge Band such as Iron Maiden and after Helloween Era, Kiske stayed off-Metal and is reccently coming back, both are incredible to me Kiske's voice is really clean, efortless, melodic and even mainstream

The 2 most beautifull voices in heavy metal, Michael's voice is very clean, Bruce is able to sing in different moods; I prefer Michael in the high register, Bruce in the low notes. Finally....for just an inch I say Michael is better...but it's just a matter of tastes, anyway both marvelous voices!!!

He is meant only to sing that someone wrote and played for him. He have only nice voice and few skills... thats all. it depends about which Bruce solo song you say. It's honestly a little bit worse than Brave New World etc, but still we got album like Chemical Wedding or Accident of Birth. We got ~~12 tracks, 1/2 are slow, somewhat ok, 4 are worth of listening and sticking to playlist, 3 are cool, but somewhat you want others, another 3 are masterpieces.

@OathBird You 're just blabbing. Kiske's abilities are even better displayed on Pink Bubbles Go Ape & Chameleon than on the Keepers. He also toured for all 4 Helloween albums he recorded. Bruce always rocks? I guess you forgot Skunkworks & Balls To Picasso! As a songwriter sure Kiske is not the best but the same goes for Bruce. His best solo albums are both co-written with Smith & RoyZ. Besides Revelations & Powerslave Bruce only co-wrote songs in Maiden. Bruce is only a better showman

Bruce had the most complete musical career, there's no comparison, he was the vocalist of the most famous metal band! He is also an ok songwriter and an amazing showman. But this is a "vocal" comparison and Kiske is just a better singer!

Kiske es un gran vocalista, pero al igual que la inmensa mayoria de cantantes de power metal solo abusa del falsetto para hacer agudos y grititos heavies muchas veces innecesarios. Bruce ha registrado agudos sobrehumanos en directo sin necesidad de usar falsete.

Dickinson always used more falsetto than Kiske did! Some examples: 1:19 and 8:28. How can you tell that it is falsetto: the notes are lighter and not as powerful compared to Bruce's head or chest notes! Falsetto is not a crime, it makes higher singing easier, but Bruce uses it more often!

@aacugna8 La diferencia está en que Bruce cantaba sin usar falsetto mientras que Kiske abusaba mucho de esta tecnica. Bruce no necesitaba de eso para llegar a hacer agudos, Kiske por el contrario cantaba de forma muy nasal, abusaba del falsetto solo para llegar a los agudos. En ese sentido Bruce gana por paliza. Por otro lado, la voz de Bruce siempre acaba resintiendose por cantar de esta manera durante las giras que llegaban a durar de 10 a 13 meses.

Both have great ranges and perks that give each a unique style and fanbase. Bruce is an epic storyteller and has a varied style of grittyness and opra wails but thins on highs nowadays. Kiske of course has a beautiful clean voice with effortless control on high notes but just lacks Bruce's total range. Both are epic lyricists and songwriters and have an unmatched ability told hold long notes:)

No disappointment whatsoever. As good as Kiske is, and as clean as his vocals are, his voice is not as suitable for the genre. Bruce is the perfect metal front man, and when he sings he can sound powerful, tough, epic, etc... Kiske rarely does, probably due to a poor choice of pitch (e.g. Future World).

But for the raw gritty heavy metal rock feel and edge it would definitely be Bruce. All in all I prefer Kiske though, no disrespect to Bruce, he is a true legend and a god. I love his voice and he has a really unique metal voice and is more than fantastic. I love Maiden's new album "The Final Frontier", Bruce still sound fantastic.

But I mean he's got that kind of raw gritty feel to him that kind of thing that suits metal and rock more than Kiskes voice. I mean their isn't much of undertone to Kiskes voice, it is more plain than Bruce's. To me Bruce has a more unique feel and most likely was highly influential to Kiske. But I aspire to Kiskes vocals for some reason more than Bruce's. Maybe because Kiske is a lot less known.

@TrueIronMaidenFan I was talking about vocal quality too. Bruce sounds great on "Son of a Gun" but so does Kiske on "Key To The Universe (Timo Tolkki)" for example. The only thing I give credit to Bruce is that he can sound agressive when he wants. On the other hand, Kiske can sound extremely serene and beautiful using his softer tone as on "Aina - Serendipity" and on "Kiske/Somerville - Silence". Both singers have great vocal colour & a characterisic tone, it just depends on who you like more.

@TrueIronMaidenFan I don't think that your statement is valid. Kiske was & still is a technically better singer. Both Bruce and Kiske have improved their mid and low range singing, but Kiske still sounds better (more effortless and natural) on the high range.
1. Bruce's B5 is in falsetto while Kiske's A5 is in full voice
2. This is true
3. This is totally subjective. IMO Bruce's vocal quality is better on his middle range, but Kiske's is better on his high and low range.

Bruce is better.
The fact that Kiske reaches higher notes than Dickinson doesn't make him better. Actually, I really don't know if he reaches higher notes, he just uses his falsetto more often than Bruce.
But Kiske's voice is so clean and tidy that gets me bored.
Dickinson has the devil inside his throat for basses, mid and highs.
Also, Bruce's voice can fit in much more styles of music than Michael's voice.
For all of this, Bruce is not only better, but the best of all metal singers.

@mgf621 No the fact that Kiske reaches higher notes than Dickinson doesn't make him better, the fact that he is a more technically proficient vocalist does though. You can prefer Bruce for his raspier (1992 onwards) approach, but that doesn't make him better.
Kiske is more versatile, try Place Vendome, Aina and this: watch?v=fDQdsOvft3o
As for the best "metal" singer, with 'the devil inside his throat' try DIO! He had the deepest, most powerful and most metal sounding voice, a true god (rip)!

@apati80 Bruce's depth and color are > Kiske's capacity. Kiske reaches a few clean higher keys (although Dickinson has reached cleanly pretty high himself in Quest for Fire and Revelations), whereas Bruce has a much better mid range and (arguably) slightly better lows. Vocal versatility has nothing to do with a singer's willingness to sing different styles,but rather how well he blends in. Kiske is good at that. There aren't many Bruce deviations from his style so there's no good comparison.

@amanloop I agree with regards to Bruce's depth, but Kiske's color/timbre is as unique and strong. Bruce had a better mid range during the 80's, but Kiske had a much more developed head voice and a wider vocal range. Both of them improved their lower singing throughout the years, but Kiske also used and improved his mid range a lot (listen to him on Place Vendome or on Kiske/Somerville), while Bruce weakened on the high stuff. In the end all depends on tastes & preferences.

I'd argue that Bruce still has the most complete range and his mids have actually improved after he left Maiden and he learned how to properly use his voice. I'm not bashing Michael by any means, he's awesome. At the end of the day I agree with you that it all depends on tastes and preferences.

@mgf621 I so much disagree. Kiske has a perfect and pure voice that makes him one of a kind. He has a personal voice! But i agree when you said that Kiskes voice is a little girlish. And childish also. But its still stronger and cleaner. Kiske is better! :) He is just so underrated because Iron Maiden was much more popular!

I'm a bigger early Helloween fan than Maiden, but I always thought that Dickinson along with Halford were the genres biggest vocal style influences. Pretty much a whole generation between them :D

I like both. Technically Kiske is better and Helloween songs are a lot harder to sing than Maidens. But yes, Bruce is a better performer and more energetic when singing live.

Kiske is 43, Dickinson is 52. Let me see how these guys sound 24 and 15 years from now when they are 67 years old. In the meantime Dio will remain as the God of the Metal Vocalists.

Kiske has more range and control but Dickinson has a more interesting voice. Kiske just wails but Dickinson tells a story when he sings. Both are awesome any way you look at it, though.

Maiden are The Greatest band in the world. No doubt. but they are NOT the best in ALL ways. That's where Maiden fans are silly wrong! they have the best bassist in the world - NO DOUBT - but they DON'T have the best vocalist!
There are better vocalists out there than Bruce....
We wouldn't even need to pick the "wunderkind" Kiske to beat up Bruce. we could find one of a much "lower class".
so, don't be so pathetic Maiden fans (even if I'm one of them myself).

No digas tonterías por favor. Me parece muy bien que seas un fan acérrimo de los maiden. Pero no hay que ser muy inteligente ni tener un gran oido para percibir que la voz de Kiske alcanza unos registros mucho más altos y que tiene una voz mucho más limpia.

whilst Dickinson can sing in different moods, scream agony or wildness and he has much more Stage Personality and dominance.....but anyway, we're talking about VOICE ONLY here so I stick with MICHAEL KISKE.

Well Kiske himself has stated that Dickinson is one of his Inspirations for singing and obviously Bruce is in a TREMENDOUS Huge Band such as Iron Maiden and after Helloween Era, Kiske stayed off-Metal and is reccently coming back, both are incredible to me Kiske's voice is really clean, efortless, melodic and even mainstream

so, don't be pathetic.
listen to Quest for Fire here. good example. Bruce tried to sing bit higher than usual, closer to Kiske's range, but he sounded like shit...it just didn't go. he sings best with his "angry" vocals. and that's where he should stay.

Iron Maiden are NO doubt Godzzz & The Greatest band in the World!
I am myself a Maiden fan since 1984/85.
but it pisses me off when Maiden fans around the globe fail to be objective when it comes to comparing Maiden with other bands. there are a handful of bands that are just as good as Maiden, if not at some moments even better.
main thing: bands like Iron maiden & Helloween basically CAN'T be compared.

The 2 most beautifull voices in heavy metal, Michael's voice is very clean, Bruce is able to sing in different moods; I prefer Michael in the high register, Bruce in the low notes. Finally....for just an inch I say Michael is better...but it's just a matter of tastes, anyway both marvelous voices!!!
