yup pretty sure that is a VERY young Liam Mower (from 1:43-2:04). He was an original. I havent seen the show but from watching vids of him on here, id say he was definitely the best Billy. cant wait til its on B'way!
Yeah, I remember the first time I saw this, I was like: "If they didn't cast that kid in the blue doing all the flips, they are nuts." Luckily, they did.
great dancing, shame t rex didnt stay alive to write the sound track for the musical.... innit.dont think that song here has anything on cosmic dancer. i mean come on, what a loadda tosh.
never been done to the extent that for 3 hrs they portray a very strong emotional depth to the whole show with such a strong emotional range with excetional dance as well as acting and singing etc- other child lead shows reep in on the "cute" factor etc- if you have seen it, you wouldnt question that statement- this shows on a different scale to annie or oliver- this show's very different, it isnt for kids, under 15's not admited.
I wish they would make a musical where girls could do that. A musical where it is open auditions. A musical where a young girl at 14 gets to play the main part!
omg, i was on that video i now most of those guys the best experience of my life, got down to the last 10 to play his best friend (the gay one) lol but i didnt get any further but i carried on the dream and im goin 2 doreen bird next year i cant believe its been so long since that audition 2003! x
i think they will be able 2 teach the americans the gordie accent because i saw it last night and corey snide[wat i xcellent dancer] was playin billy nd hes frm new york x
I am sure they'll be able to teach the Americans the Geordie accent. Colin Bate's is actually quite good. And they can't change the point of story other wise it's not the same musical.
Who says anyone will have an American accent? Colin Bates is American and was taught to do the same accent as the other Billys. I'm really looking forwawrd to this great show coming to NYC.
how can you do Billy Elliot in the US. Surely the whole point of the story is that it is set in Durham during the miners strike. I really don't think an american accent will work although it will be interesting to see...
What a great, talented kid. I'm sure he's just a regular boy and all, but he's also a real artist. For him to say what he did about how he feels when he dances...that was poetry. (11 year-old poetry, but poetry nonetheless.)
He just looks different because he was so little when he auditioned. I guess he was 11, but he looks more like 9 or 10. He's just so teeny. Still very much a little boy, not pre-adolescent, not even close. Just a darling little boy. Reminds me of my nephew, which means I just want to squeeze the heck out of him.
OMG! 0:41 must have been sooooo scareyyyyyy!

Anyone know which one is Lewis Bradley from Any Dream Will Do? Apparently he got the last fifteen to play Billy.
