i had a molly with a dropsy, which can be caused by many things including; fish TB, kidney failure, tumors, and bad water quality. In my case it was water quality, i did a 50% water change and within two days and he was back to normal.
dropsy has somthing to do with kidney failure and the fishs body retaining to much water. try isolating the fish and using aquarium salt and anti-biotics.
Your goldfish is beautiful, I hope he gets better soon! How many goldfish would you recommend for a 150 gallon pond? Comets an short goldfish like black moors would be nice :D
rookies? lol, the fish eating has nothing to do with the quality of the fish or its ability to be healed. ive seen expensive fish eat fine, and be dead in a day. your goldfish would do well with a salt dip, and some warm tank time(70-72 deg) with some salt in it, feeding medicated food, looks like poor water conditions caused his problems. if he starts looking like a pinecone, get it out of the pond, and kill it. no point in trashing the water quality over a cheap goldfish.
Dropsy isn't a disease, it's a symptom of kidney failure, an accumulation of fluid in the body tissues, which can be caused by many different diseases or environmental conditions. A salt bath and/or a general anti-biotic and plenty of water changes in an isolation tank is a standard treatment.
best way i found to help with dropsy is with some epsom salt and putting some fungal medicine into the water. Helped saved my fish and my friend's doing this
sorry dustin but that fish has dropsy if you want to keep it alive you will need antibiotic food or injections, the injections work a lot better but may be expensive. But personally i have never saved a goldfish with dropsy.
@razorzrcool i had a phat goldfish with dropsy. its a lack of potassium. im gonna try feeding peas which are high in it, this and some treating is all i am gonna do. no injection

Interesting fact on Goldfish. They DO NOT have a stomach. Feed them a little and feed them often. Could be the guy is loaded up on algae.
