@toggsuk Well, I KNOW THAT IS AN ORGAN IN FIRST PLACE. Second, i too know that there is 3 keyboards, and that "really" organs can have up to 7 keyboards plus pedal. well, i'm Brazilian, my English is not so good and what I meant by keyboard was "instrument".
Film composers would save a bunch of money working with this girl instead of an orchestra. Final version can be played by orchestra, but for a composer what she is doing is plenty enough to get the details right.
Look out Hector Olivera!!! To answer the question about the patch changes during the performance... Like the Technics organs, they are all part of the 'arrangements' saved to memory, which are pre-arranged by the performer/aritst... .back in the day, it was on floppy disks, not sure what the current Yamahas are using... SD or CF cards maybe ???

@Screaminguy it will cost you about 13000 euro's or 1428000 yen if you have to import it to Europe. The same amount of money goes voor the UK and Ireland. it's slightly cheaper if you live in the US
Vous venez d'une autre planète Madame ou mademoiselle, vous êtes extraordinaire, j'ai jamais vu jouer comme ça au piano, je vous écoute et je vois le film !!!! C'est stupéfiant........
@KNO3CS Not quite yet. In case you were not paying close attention, the leading edge attack of each note are not as clearly defined on this electone as the real thing. Not also that the recording you're listening to now is still very compressed in dynamics and staging. Real orchestras will sound different.
Nonetheless, credit where credits are due, Maru (the player) certainly deserves to be lauded. I'll only be able to sit and watch/listen in awe.
@KNO3CS Not quite as this electone is strictly sold in Asia only. I shudder to think of the exhorbitant shipping and import costs involved in the procurement process (on top of the already stratospheric costs of owning one - each unit is custom made).
I think what this unit is very good at doing would be to aid composers in getting a first feel of what their new works are like. They can then scale these up later using real instruments/bands/orchestras.
@9VARZ I heard they cost about $18,000, Hell, that would hardly buy a bow for a first chair violinist. vs the cost of a 100 piece orchestra, rehearsal time, use of a hall for recording, paying union scale, the conductor etc. etc. In the words of a wise guy, Chump Change. Does anyone know how much is budgeted for the score on a 70 million dollar movie? It must be frightening. The electone is not quite ready to replace the LSO, but it's getting closer.
@9VARZ Yea, amazing instrument. The horns sound very accurate but they have not yet figured out a way to make strings sound exactly like strings... something about the violin resists attempts at accurate synthysis. It is such a warm, human sound.
@KNO3CS You're also missing out one BIG instrument that nothing else on earth can emulate with true fidelity (apart from the instrument itself). That is the sound of a grand piano.
Violins are not warm....Cellos are!! LOL. Okay I'm biased....hehehe
@9VARZ You can always try going for second hands (; But I wouldn't if I were you, getting service support on this thing is pretty difficult in certain countries.
I think I am in loved with maruさん after watching Star Wars, Back to the Future, and this one. Not sure what to think about the Godzilla outfit though... :)
I play an Electone myself, I wouldn't have the patience to arrange everything and set it up myself like this LOL. Unless she bought a book that has the data.
It's really fun to play this song! Learning this piece is challenging initially if you are not-a-natural-born-electonist...but after lots and lots of patience and practice, once you get there ....WOW! The feeling is MAGICAL! ^^
You know, this song was originally written on an Electone. Not really. One of things that makes her playing appealing is that apparently the keys are touch sensitive, so it really is something new, as if she is bowing the keys.
It sounds like there's pre-made tracks on the electone, mainly just the percussion. But all the other instruments are still being played by her in this video, aka the strings, brass, timpani, etc. But the snare drum and the cymbal crashes look like they were pre-recorded. The electone might have a feature where she made the track beforehand, and she's just following a metronome. Still amazing nonetheless.
@mgmchenry She's playing the timpani with her feet. Not the snare drums or the crashes. Watch her feet during the snare rolls and crash cymbals. Then listen to the timpani sounds and watch her feet.
This has to be layered, right? Like prerecorded tracks and stuff? Because there are parts she's most definitely not playing but that are still audible.
I really like your videos! I'm a big fan of John Williams!
