  • A good friend played this album for me years ago....amazing work.

  • Excellent. I love it!

  • As a dancer, lover of music and just the arts in general I can soooooo appreciate this. I can't help but dance whenever I play this! It puts Grveys spirit in the air. I feel empowered and sassy at the same time. Hearing such genius lets you know we truly are a beautiful people!

  • this is divine.

  • is same like brazilian music from candomblé...bouth was from Africa...

  • max roach is the foremost artist. he preached individualism through self expression but also through an understanding that the individual is tied to all around him- social responsibility/protest

  • Passionate music!!! Max Roach had SO much integrity. thanks.

  • Divine, it is. Art Davis towers the rhythms as a giant. Amazing.

I still remember my excitement when the first cd edition of this then impossible to find Impulse! (GRP) come, reading the performers. Some of the top Roach combos (and heaven knows he had some!).

  • Garvey's Ghost is a composition written for Marcus Garvey, a leadher in the organizing of hundreds of black people all over the world.

The bright 6/8 tempo provides the impetus and gives one the feeling that moving is so strong and steady in direction, nothing can hold back the progress already in motion.

  • jewels!

  • Incredible composition. I ended up cracking the 2nd joint of my right index on the rim of my snare drum trying to keep up with Max during his amazing solo in this piece. Left me with a huge smile on my face, knowing Max can still spank me even after death.

  • @Fontimus HA! man, i'm sorry you hurt yourself but i think i'm entitled to laugh since it's happened to me before, too.

  • music that is divine is so true .
