Is there any way to get like guaranteed action outside the wire? Like if I enlist as SFS, will I have a pretty good shot at doing convoy ops, patrols, ect. ?
Unfortunately no amount of training can prepare Air Force security for the trials that await them behind the wire. Late nights falling asleep at airfield ECPs, driving the HMMWV without a helmet, unaccommodating hours at the "dining facility", Hadjee not having their laundry folded in time and, if you can believe it, even MOTOR ATTACKS!! Despite this, I'm certain there are those who sacrifice out there but I expect most of the guys you see here are but self-glorifying youtube video makers..
no offense but at fort lewis we trained SF guys on a mount site and it took them almost 4 days to properly clear a room while most newbie POGS straight out of basic could do it in a day. they seem less then motivated in this video.... perhaps sometime with a fort knox DS would help them hee hee

aerial gunner is more close to combat then sf psh tacp's are infantry they deploy with seals green berets ,rangers, usmc infantry all security forces do is cop stuff but once in a great moon they train like infantry.
These guys are badass. I think any army soldier or marine should be proud to fight alongside them, same for every SF guy should be proud to fight alongside a marine or army soldier. I plan on joining SF as soon as I get out of High School and I want to become a Military Working Dog handler, and if I'm out there deployed and some marine or army soldier fights with me, I'm gunna treat him like my brother because we all fight for the same flag and the same reason.
look at it like this. this career field did a 180 as soon as 9 11 happened we went from military police officers to infantry with the whip of a pen. army and marines were over worked and under staffed so someone had to do it. who better than us. we are more trained than people think

because tech school is nothing like this. it is sooooo boring. the first week is called sat week and all you do is clean the dorms for a week and then the next six weeks is all classroom stuff and you have a tough time trying to stay awake lol. but catm is pretty cool. when you get to camp bullis you do alot of cool stuff but your off time theres nothing to do out there lol. you'll see what i mean when you get there. but first you have to get through basic and thats a whole other story lol

Security Forces is different in the Marines, there Security Forces and then theres MP's completely different MOS (Jobs). And you can stay at a naval base permanently, to guard it on the daily, in our security forces there are different groups, PRP, Regular SF, FAST, or RTT - everyone besides FAST stays home FAST goes everywhere - my best friends doing air force SF I think you guys are great by the way

Yeah some MP's are outside the wire with the grunts, but not alot, regular Marine Security Forces never get deployed to a combat zone there stationary unlike USAF SF, the only SF guys that go outside the wire are FAST, But a security forces contract for the Marines is 5 years half security forces half 0300 infantry you go to infantry right after.

@360pinoy People talk a lot of shit about us, but in reality, we do a lot. As a new guy may get stuck guarding gates, but after awhile you can train to be a dog handler, do patrols, and if your good enough, become part of the SWAT team. If your expeditionary like I am, you'll be running convoys and patroling the cities with the Army in Iraq and afgan. No matter what they say, we are well trained and quite capable in combat. We are trained across many fields and considered elite by some.

@highspeeda1c Thats not true. Everyone hates on the AF just because we have better living conditions and more opportunities with college and future education.

@SFairman100 Im looking into this job and iv heard it sucks at times like guarding gates and checking id's all day but the training looks fun. Do you like your job and whats the fun stuff you do in the SF? cuz iv heard a lot of negative stuff

@360pinoy People talk a lot of shit about us, but in reality, we do a lot. As a new guy may get stuck guarding gates, but after awhile you can train to be a dog handler, do patrols, and if your good enough, become part of the SWAT team. If your expeditionary like I am, you'll be running convoys and patroling the cities with the Army in Iraq and afgan. No matter what they say, we are well trained and quite capable in combat. We are trained across many fields and considered elite by some.

@SFairman100 I've done a lot of research and I've decided its the job im going for. From what you said it makes me want to join even more. How do you become expeditionary? Sounds exactly like the thing i want to do when i join SF.

@360pinoy Get stationed in the right spot. You'll be rotated into Iraq or Afgan, or you'll have to ask about it

@SFairman100 Well im 13 and im planning om going in the USAF but how do you get put into exeditionary divisions.My dad was in the SP or nowadays the SF he said its actually sometimes laidback..he was also in Desert Storm when he was in. But ccan you please give me some tips and what to be expecting as I go in cuz I really want to be a dog handler or expeditionary please help.

@highspeeda1c I have a huge repsect for both of those branches but the Air Force has a lot of cool jobs as well like the pj's and the combat controllers. They also have the air force rangers
