The goalies back in Gretzky's time all had small equipment and were not as athletic as today's goalies. Look at any old time video on how much net there was between the goalie and the net.

Messier, Coffey accomplished one thing that Gretzky couldn't do in his career and that's take another team to the Stanley Cup and win. Look at all the video of how small the equipment was compared to today. John Davidson is on record that today's goalies are far more athletic than when he played. i have the same position on this... i'm a capitals fan and i love big man ovechkin. butttttt i'm against meaningless celebrations... if i was the man behind ovechkin i would of started a fight because in all reality it looks like it's disrespect, and i understand that it's not but it looks like it. and he's right about how mike green skates away... if i was on alexes team though i would of done what he did... i would of just looked the other way and not take part in it.
