• Damnit youtube why did you make me obsess over this game to the point where i find out the ending and THEN get the game.

  • @ElliottXP1 Happened to me, too. Although I haven't got the game. Maybe sometime.

But yeah. I'm obsessed right now with it :O

  • one of the best games I ve ever played ! It really touched me emotionaly!

  • I love this game so much. That ending truely broke my heart. To be so focused and pursue something that we may lose the greatness we already had within our grasp.

  • Tim didn't make any mistake. His story is not a "mistake". It's life. A lesson is not a mistake. This is the beauty of the game. This is what the game is about.

  • Raping the replay button here.

  • most people say that the atom bomb ending was how it really goes but it's really just a different way to take it. if it's to much to handle then the princess ending is just as much the ending of the game as the atom bomb one, but its your choice as to which on you want to go by.

  • 2 people had a minority opinion that I strongly disagree with, yet I respect their right to hold said opinion. I simply wish they would reconsider so they may enjoy this fantastic soundtrack.

  • The twist at the end of this game is pure genius. You thought you were running with the princess, helping her to escape, but in reality -- she was running from you.

...There needs to be more games like this.

  • The atomic bomb end still sort of depresses me.

  • @sickweirdo It causes to me an emotion i cant describe XD Its like, its a story told really figuratively, and when THAT happens, it all of a sudden goes literal to hell.

  • i didn't know what was real anymore. like drunk, i stumbled back and forth through my recollections. time and time again i thought about my mistakes. i shut myself in yet i wasn't alone. the fires of the past haunt me while i arrange the pieces. suddenly it all seems to make sense, i reach out my hand to embrace her..but reality is twisted, the ending to my suffering turns out to be my greatest fear. i won't forget, when the music in my heart starts to play i gaze to the sky and count the stars.

  • @sufferingminotaur Mmmmmm bit gay mate

  • @biglilnicky eat a dick mate

  • @timelessthee Yours? :D

  • @biglilnicky yeah, keep sucking it

  • @sufferingminotaur NUM NUM NUM

  • @sufferingminotaur But in all seriousness, wtf did you expect? Did you expect everyone to go "DAMN YOUR POETIC VALUE IS RIDICULOUS! PLEASE SHOWER US MORE WITH YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM!!" No, you cant have, cause what you wrote was rly, rly, rly stupid. Even my own 60 year old mother said you sounded like an emo.

  • @biglilnicky lol,
video games
.

  • @sufferingminotaur Ehmmm... what?

  • Anyone know where I can download the soundtrack from? I really want all the Braid music on my mp3 player.

  • A truly inspired game.

  • Should i get this game ?

Cos from the gameplay , it looks really shitty.

    Like , REALLY shitty.

    ^_^

  • @EpicBunty Hey, it's not for everyone. As you can see from the comments, almost everyone (including myself) has loved it. However, you personally may not like the style of game. I suggest you give it a try though, you may end up liking it.

  • @somerandomgirl8D thanks!

    :

  • ending of this game is awesome

  • Anyone else getting a major Shadow / Spirit Temple (Ocorina of Time) vibe from this?

  • @rossmallo yes

  • @rossmallo I'd say the darkening ground is more of a shadow temple tune, but I do agree that undercurrent has a spirit temple thing to it.

  • this is a super mario version of 2011 !!!!!!!!!

  • @darkram13 Sorry, can't comply. I toured the Los Alamos museum for three days. Mind if I thumb you up anyways?

  • @Ganyemede105 It's a violin with a mute on. Could possibly be a viola (plus mute), but it's almost definitely the former. The only thing keeping me from declaring it so is the relatively low pitch.

  • @mszegedy

Jami Sieber's instrument of choice is the cello.

  • @JoeElms True, but it sounds too high to be a cello...

  • @mszegedy

Neh, not really. I don't think she plays anything else. Acoustic and electric cello is it.

  • @mszegedy cellos are entirely capable of treble clef...

  • @nanomagnetic Granted, but why use a cello when there are perfectly serviceable string instruments made for the treble clef siting around?

  • @mszegedy because the quality of the tone is different on a cello. and the melodies that occur to the musician playing the cello are different than those that occur to a violinist or violist. and the cello will resonate longer than the smaller instruments. and this particular musician is a cellist.

    need i go on?

  • @mszegedy it's a cello. jami sieber is a cellist. and cellos always sound like that in the higher registers.

  • two people didn't understand the game...

    T_T it's a marvelous game...

  • I was thinking that maybe Braid also stands for Bomb-raid, if you get my point.

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU----

Ehhh, Fuck it. Braid's too kickass for that gimmick anyways.

  • Braid is one of the best examples of Video game art, Art is supposed to make you think, and Braid certainly has done that for alot of people

  • Okay, I want honesty here:

Thumbs Up if you DIDN'T catch the "We are all sons of bitches" parallel until AFTER reading about it later. I know I was a bit baffled my first playthrough.

  • @darkram13 Of course I didn't. It makes very little sense and is convoluted. It's an original idea but of course completely irrelevant.

  • @darkram13 I got that it was a quote from the Manhattan project... I didn't see the connection though... in fact, I still don't. Is it because they realized their creation of the weapon they had been pursuing had turned them into monsters because of how devastating it was, and Tim had a moment where he realized his obsession with finding the Princess had turned him into a monster too?

  • This game is the emotional equivalent of Eversion. It starts off happy & carefree, but it inexorably lowers you deeper and deeper into a dark & horrible reality. The only difference with Braid's flow is that you kind of have to let yourself descend into it, where Eversion has to force you into it.

  • 3:10 best part

  • @ZutiBar1 #cosign!

  • No, Tim - you ARE the monster!

  • pure art...nuff said.

  • i think braid is better than empire universe 2

  • Whoever said videogames can't be art has never played Braid at all.

  • @ElMareadoman Ebert actually said that, once.

  • @serenitytyaena

    I know :)

And to him i say "Shoushi!" (无)

  • @serenitytyaena Ebert says that all the time; it doesn't make it any more of a truth. As Jerry Holkins puts it, Ebert's just an old man who's picked the losing team.

  • @serenitytyaena Ebert is a jerk who receives too much attention as he tries to remove the beauty of video games from us when he has no authority to do so, which is a display that showcases his lack of relevance to the medium. Even if Ebert ever agreed to play a video game, which he likely won't, the opinion of one man cannot undermine the elegance we are all able to find in games.

  • @serenitytyaena Ebert has said that many times. Here's the thing, no one cares. The "video games are/aren't art" is a totally worthless debate, as is any attempt at definition of the word.

  • @serenitytyaena twice now

  • @serenitytyaena Ebert's argument focus's on the gameplay of Braid only, not how it affects the plot, not about the art style, and not about the story.

  • @ElMareadoman I say it all the time and I've completed braid twice. this music is art, a game is a game.

  • braid is not a game but a journey

  • Its a cello

  • @jguy584 yes a cello with heavy after effects

  • this game has probably the only game ending that toutched me emotionally

  • @0megasonic i can't even get to the ending x_x......at least not on my own

  • @petswodahs don't worry, I couldn't have finished it without a walkthrough either :)

  • @0megasonic I remember playing the ending for the first time. I got massive goosebumps and my eyes widened with realization.

Anyone who hasn't played through Braid, get off YouTube and get it now. So amazing and it will stay with me forever.

  • @0megasonic you obviously wrote this comment before Red Dead Redemption was out. :D

  • @Reiem94 haha so true man

  • @0megasonic it was a truly fucked ending to braid. and i mean that in the most complimentary way possible, you know?

  • Sometimes, we feel we are the hero In pursuit to save the one we love. To live happily ever after. In the end? We learn that we may be the ones who drove them away. Though we feel our passion, we don't see our madness.

The end was gut-wrenching to me. His calm face contrasted with desire and frustration. I almost heard Tim yelling in pursuit: "DON'T YOU SEE THAT I LOVE YOU?!","GET BACK HERE!","YOU'RE MAKING A MISTAKE!".

Perhaps love is a driving factor behind insanity.

  • @No1Significant1 @No1Significant1 So what mistake did he make? Was he too controlling?

  • Comment removed

  • @No1Significant1 I sort of obsess over this story because I see a disturbing amount of parrallels between what I read ingame and my own life. Sort of a warning from the future to "not go down this road".

  • @No1Significant1 I just read all the text from "time and place" and was like wtf I know EXACTLY what that means =p

  • @No1Significant1 Glad I'm not the only one who looks at it as a character piece and doesn't dwell on the atomic bomb theory. Whether that symbolism is true or not, I really see it as a story about a guy who fucked up.

  • Comment removed

  • @sagesaria

just because both meanings contradict story-wise doesn't mean one of them is false. the atomic bomb is more of an additional layer for those willing to look deeper. it's a double entendre. wait, are you the saria from vidyarevolution?

  • @sufferingminotaur That's true. I guess I'm just a little pet peeved about it ^^; and nope, never even heard of it.

  • @No1Significant1 the way you say it is great,

are ya a writer or something?

  • @Sapparlipopett

No. I'm a man who made a lot of mistakes in his life.

  • @0megasonic You should play Nier and Portal 2

  • @0megasonic

If Braid is the only game that has touched you emotionally, then you absolutely NEED to play Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 4, or Mother 3.

  • @SpectralPlatypus Agrooooooo!!!

  • @SpectralPlatypus

while braid didn't touch me emotionally, just philosophically, i admit crying in the end of mother 3. I need to play mgs4 and shadow of the colossus. if only i had a ps3 and my ps2 hadn't stopped working...

  • @0megasonic there are many that did that to me.

  • @0megasonic

oh, and you also need to play Iji

  • is the first part reversed or the second?

  • I'm tempted to learn violin just for this song

  • @LongBow1600

I don't think that's a violin. Its timbre is too mellow and rich. I'm thinking a viola would be more likely to reproduce that tone.

(I play violin, and have a friend who plays viola)

  • I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that you're right. I don't know much other than guitar. But if you play you should learn that song. Do it for me. Do it for the team

  • :')

  • :'')

  • Awesome. Just like all of Braid.

  • You're both right :D

  • I really like the second part to this song. It's so beautiful.

  • all braid music is beatiful.

    so is the whole game

  • @legofreak1000 can't agree with you more
