@UltraVert@UltraVert BTW, the specific model in the video is an extremely rare collectors item, not a homemade science project. The last one sold well over a year ago for $1600 on eBay.
@UltraVert It's not only oil and water. If you do that, you will have a mess inside your vessel. The amounts of each chemical are very specific to achieve proper wave action. The RPMs of the motor are specific to the vessel size-not to mention the design of the mechanics that will actuate it. A piece of tubing will cost you $100 in materials alone. There is engineering involved.
It's really a shame they're so costly, I've been looking for one for years, and being the original simple deal as $35, I wouldn't expect to pay more than $50 for a custom job, but the when you throw in all the features, wood, and sound, and UV reactive nature and everything else... I can see the price going up... you should make a simple one for people who aren't rich.
I hope you consider it. You would sell a ton of them if you did. Etsy for example.
The problem is that the "simple ones" were mass manufactured using the cheapest of materials. The vessel alone for this unit costs over $150 to fabricate. I am also an individual, not a corporation, so I don't have access to injection molding to create cheap plastic bases. Everything will be handcrafted. The original small machines you are talking about sell for $3500-$500 on ebay from time to time. Take a look at my other videos to see some I have sold.
Also, even the cheapest of wave machines that were just knock offs from the Discovery Store (Tranquil Tide) sell for $200 now, where they were $20 3 years ago until a Chinese company bought them ALL. Keep in mind this is an American made product.
Please email me at rachaeldowney1981@yahoo.co.uk very interested in this amazing wave machine what price would you consider for sale we are from the uk
