Ohhh,...to hear this played on a Hammond B-3 with slow Leslie on the verses and fast tremolo on the choruses would sound wonderful. Not discrediting George at all on this song,...he does it well. But to hear it played as an instrumental piece on a Hammond, again, would sound wonderful!
I hate comments about someone's looks but since this features a slideshow of George over a period of time, I'm going to make such a comment. To me, George has gotten better looking with time - maybe it's the white hair. And, of course, he still has that wonderful voice!!!
@CAKETERZ4653 If I were to pick the five greatest singers of the 20th Century, lumping together singers of all vocal types (country, pop, jazz, classical, opera, etc.), one of them would be George Jones because he is so far ahead of anyone else in his field. He is absolutely brilliant at what he does.
This is the song that brought me around to Country Music after being immersed in Rock during the late 60's and all of the 70's. I happened to hear this on a Pop station, and it really turned me on to what Country Music had to offer. There is something about George's voice that reaches parts of my soul that others couldn't. God Bless George Jones.
This man is one of the greatest singers of all time. His vocal tone, phrasing, and interpretation are impeccable and unparalled in all of country music!
@elvispresley718 Not fair! George really is, as I said before, one of the greatest singers of the 20th Century, in any singing category. Sinatra was called the king of phrasing? Sinatra couldn't hold a candle to George in that area. Merle Haggard is another one of the greats.
what a fantastic american singer forever and ever!!
