  • I think it's the equivalent of 2 cars 60 mph each head on, so what was said at 0:18 is not correct.

At least the rear license plate looks ok, they can salvage that.

  • @boosterblaster Yes and no, Reason it can approach the equivalent of two cars each at 120, is the concrete block has a much higher mass than an identical focus, and the block has no crumple zone so no deformation. If they crashed the focus at 120 into another focus parked in neutral, it would be the same result as two, each at 60 crashing head on. The Mythbusters episode has created such confusion that they should issue a correction, and apply 3rd law properly, forces ad.

  • This isent an extreme case at all its more common than that, this guy hasent taken into account general relativity, if two cars are doing the national speed limit NEALRY EVERY UK ROAD and crash head on they hit at a 120mph, if one person got tired doing 60 an drifted into another car doing 60 this is the result :/

  • best place for a focus.looks better after the crash than before.

  • COITADO DOS BONECOS

  • did you see all the gas leaking out?

  • Well, that would be the same as two cars hitting each other at 60mph round about, so even following the speed limit of a motor way, if you were stupid enough to stray onto the other side of the road, you might come off even worse than that!!

  • @Rhidstheimpaler Common misconception... it's the same as two cars hitting at 120mph. This is because if you hit a car of the same size, but stationary, both cars would still be in motion after impact, whereas when hitting a brick wall the car comes to a complete stop. The only way to have an impact with two cars in which they come to a complete stop is to have them drive at the same speed toward eachother.

  • Crash starts at 2:20

  • szok !!

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!that is realy realy sick wowwwwww!!!!!

  • That guy doesn't seem like an expert he just desribed what he saw like anyone else could.

  • 2 cars crashing at 60 totals 120 like negative force no?

  • why didnt they save the wheels ?! :'(

  • @axelakaHITMAN same thing i said

  • @RustyStallionNZ and unless you crash into my fat bosses wife? The your royally fucked?

  • the guys on here commenting like there pros in this stuff just cause they watched myth busters lol

  • najo guckt mich an bin ein elch

  • you could buff that out

  • dobre felgi mial ;] szkoda ;]

  • you can still sell those rims..! :P

  • Why is he talking about it as if it's a horrid sight? IT'S EPIC!

  • (waywardsons67). Am I to assume you meant two cars crashing head-on, both of similar size and weight, each traveling at 60 MPH? Is so, then your understanding of automobile crashes and the physics behind them is wrong. Two cars of similar weight and size, both traveling at 60 MPH and colliding head-on, is the same as one of these cars running into a fixed barrier at 60 MPH.

  • 60 mph is better

  • nice, try another one at 155 mph, anyway, RIP RayByan aviators ;(

  • Cars are dangerous. BAN THEM!

  • holy shit!!

    ... a ford focus can go 120?

  • @MagneticG8

they use a cable, it doesn´t get that speed by itself

  • @VitalMusic217 why not? i don't know the version of this ford focus but i have an opel corsa 1.3 diesel engine and it goes to 180 KM\H ( 111.85 MPH)

  • @MagneticG8 120mph isn't fast.. It's only about 193kph. Modern cars are governed at the speed rating of their tires, so if the tires are "S" rated, that's for 180kph, which are most common since the 90s. More tires are rated for 190 (118mph), which is probably around the top speed of the Focus. Those tires should rated H. The ungoverned version of my car (top speed 240kph) has V-rated tires. Z, W and Y are 240, 270 and 300kph, respectively. My car reaches 190kph very easily.

  • @epcdaniel ?????????? im well aware of how tire ratings work, but what does that have to do with my comment, or anything for that matter? i was simply making a joke about the focus being able to go 120, cuz theyre gay. (and yes i know it was on a cable). thanks for flexing your tire knowledge though lol

  • @MagneticG8 Oh.. haha. I didn't realize you were joking. I thought you were shocked that it goes that fast. sorry! :)

  • @MagneticG8 just about every car can go over 110mph nowadays

  • @MagneticG8 focus RS will do 160-ish =]

  • @MagneticG8 my friend couldnt believe it either, the next day after the run, he had to wear pink fingernail polish at school lol

  • Running into a wall is not the same as running head on into another car

  • 68 miliseconds....

  • That is actually rather freaking scary.

  • And who's the lucky emergency worker who has to clean up after one of these... :|

  • copyright 2011? surely not? they're mk1 focus's or maybe they used older cars on purpose

  • foot down? well, even at 60 mph (legal speeds on many roads) if you collide like that you are just dead meat too, your body is just better looking for the forensic...

  • Gdjj

  • A piece of modern art!!! What a fuckin tosser this bloke is.

  • i should have brought a ka ....

  • Hey noobs, read my post twice, I never posted anything about surviving 120mph crash, jeez..

  • @aeg12p That is fair enough Sir, As long as you understand that there is NO road car that could survive this brutal crash test. Bigger stronger cars like BMW 7 series, Mercedes S class, Audi Q7 etc would be able to offer BETTER protection in a crash than a Ford Focus there is no doubt about that, However that does NOT mean that you can't die in a crash in a big strong car. You would be surprised how many Volvo drivers THINK they can't be killed in a crash in there Volvo. They are dumb!!

  • @71shoelover I never posted anything about surviving a 120mph crash, jeez..

I ONLY POSTED THIS AND NOW STFU: And now try it with an Volvo V70..

  • @aeg12p Yes and try it with a Volvo V70...AND. It will still be smashed to bits like ANY road car.

  • @McLarenMercedes Yes some MUPPET said "Do this test again using a Volvo V70" The result would be the same..The people in the car would be dead.

Volvo drivers do indeed THINK they can't die in a car crash.

  • @McLarenMercedes Finally someone on youtube with a brain.

There is NO road car that could have withstood this BRUTAL crash test.

120MPH to zero in 65 Milliseconds You would be able to cough up your heart!

  • @MentallyRaped finally someone on here with a brain... NO Road car could have withstood this BRUTAL crash test. 400G..I will say it again 400 FUCKING G!

You would be able to cough up your heart. No matter what car you were driving.

  • @LoveTheCity123 You are CRAZY if you think there is a road car that could have survived this BRUTAL crash test. If you listen the car went from 120 MPH to zero in 65 milliseconds. The sudden stop would have killed you no matter what road car you were driving.

  • good thing they dont need cofen

  • slow down!! we don't want more accidents

  • I must admit this video slowed me down.., I used to set my cruise control at 95mph (it wont let me set it higher) now I keep it under 80... Drive an 04 350z...

  • Is that an svt :(

  • lol i want to see a smart car :D

  • fuck cars. ill just put that metal wall on wheels and ride in that

  • Man I'll think twice about doing 155mph in my R32 Golf from now on.

    Quick death though.

  • As physics states, "every action has an equal and opposite reaction." therefore two cars traveling towards each other at 60 do not come together with a combined speed of 120. It's counterintuitive, I know! Do some research first. Another reason why I like top gear more!

  • so if you're kidnapped, you'd survive?

  • Meh, dont know what the fuss is about. The rear alloys are fine.

  • Poor little ZX 3.

  • Do a volkswagon jetta 2012 my mom goes 80 mph down the highway

  • Now, that's what I call a 'compact car' !

  • Now id like to see the same crash test with an actual safe car >:

  • @riw89 There is NO safe car put through this crash test at 120mph into a concrete block. Not even a brand new 2012 Year model Mercedes S class or BMW 7 series would have survived this brutal test.

Please remember that quality is only finite!

  • Damn that's awesome.

  • At least its another ford off the road

  • Jesus H Christ! This is.... i have no Words for it....

  • love the over reaction by the Muppet presenter.

  • Like if you laughed because you drive a chevy!!!!!!

  • Or ya could figure out how to drive form the rear :3

  • aannnnnnndddd there dead.

  • thats wat happens when u drive ford

  • @IrvieHix There is NO road car that could have survived this BRUTAL test.

  • At least the rear wheel is ok.

  • noted from video - Solid barrier + 120mph makes passenger compartment a crumple zone. The more you know!

  • It had good rims...

  • Hang on... they're saying first off that the car is doing 120mph into the wall. Okay fine. But then they say it will be like TWO cars having a head-on at 120mph EACH.

That makes an impact of 240MPH.. because the closing speed of two cars each doing 120mph will be 240MPH. No wonder the car's now 12" long...

Oh and I think the host's reaction is justified. It would be astonishing and quite shocking.. particularly when you have seen what happens to people in slower speed impacts.

  • @waywardsons67 No actually two cars both going 120 and hitting head on is 120, they cancel out the force of each others momentum, i think you prob put this up here just to get an argument, but think about it and you will understand, lotsa variables, both cars weighing the same etc. i knew this already plus i saw it proven on a show called mythbusters!!! have fun 8-D

  • @waywardsons67 also, remember about newtons 3rd law of motion (too lazy to write it). Watch mythbusters as well, some things might surprise you. have fun!

  • @waywardsons67 i take it you never saw the episode of mythbusters where they tested what you just stated of the 120+120=240mph crash.

well... if not... it cancels out two cars travelling at 120mph each hit each other head on and the damage to both cars will be like a car travelling at 120 mph hitting a brick wall. its physics. for every reaction theres an EQUAL and opposite reaction.

  • @waywardsons67 If two cars crash head on the damage is equal to 120MPH because the impact is shared between the masses, unless its a truck... then your fucked.

  • @RustyStallioNZ at 120mph id have doubts for the truck driver being very alive after it. It may only be a 1-ton car hitting a 30 ton truck but its 1 tons at 120mph

  • @Pyroman1990 I just said it for a laugh, settle down

  • @RustyStallioNZ Mythbusters proved that wrong. Find the episode.

  • Is it me or was that not as shocking as that guy made it out to be?

  • And now do it with an Volvo V70..

  • @aeg12p do it with any Volvo!

  • @sioni20 Nah, i dont think that the 240 or any old Volvo car will survive a 120mph crash though..

  • @aeg12p lol, I ment the newer range, s80, xc90 ect.

  • @aeg12p If you think that you would have survived this BRUTAL crash in a Volvo V70 Then you are very stupid!

  • Mabey if they all jumped into the trunk they would live

  • love the man's reaction like if his dog was in the car when looking at the car somebody should have told him to bring it down a lil his acting is a bit too dramatic over a car accident in which no one was hurt

  • Man I need and been looking for a car! And theses ppl crashing them :/

  • Insta death

  • The poor Focus :'(

  • Da nado po tishe yezdit nado

  • focus.zip

  • I just answered my own question. Thanks myth busters and google. Whytellight1 thanks for ur comment u corrected something I had come to believe was true when actually I was wrong all along.

  • @whytellight1. I remember learning in physics class that two colliding objects opposite each other combine their force on impact. So did I miss something? I always thought that a car hitting another car head on at the same speed was double the force of a car hitting a static wall at the same speed. I k ow they taught this in physics very surely. So we're they wrong this whole time? Thanks!

  • 3.55 goodness you yeah dam right. I smelt that shit from my speakers ^_^

  • 1:08 - 1:27 Audio Network - Red Planet

  • Wouldn't it be the equivalent of two cars colliding with each other head-on at 60MPH each? 120MPH each would be a closure speed of 240MPH, which would be like crashing a Veyron into a wall near top speed....

  • @NavyKings2007

actually, no. 120mph for both cars it still a 120mph crash. Conservation Of Momentum. Mythbusters did such a test.

  • Is that the Clutch cover plate flying through the air at 3.08 ?

  • To the argument going on, it's all about energy transfer. Take 2 cars, one still and one going 120 mph. The moving car will transfer energy into the still car, thus giving a fraction of the damage to each car. Now take a wall that wont budge so there is no energy transfer. This is just like two cars hitting each other at the same speed. All that energy goes into both cars as 120 mph each, creating the full amount of damage to both cars. I failed physics so I can't really describe scientifically

  • So I guess the lesson is: Don't drive into solid, immovable objects at 120 MPH. I never would have thought of that.

  • A Y-reg boggo Ford Focus doing 120 mph with a woman driving and 3 random alloys (1 standard) is not a good idea. Next time I put my foot down I'll make sure those parameters are not met

  • They should of done that with a 71 LTD or buick....bet it woulda obliterated the wall.

  • @countryboy77351 watch?v=cJrXViFfMGk Not even close. The car would have been obliterated.

  • it's while both travelling at 60 mph derp derp whoever wrote the script

  • @roosterandabaldguy No it isn't. Learn your laws of physics. If two cars (exact same cars) are traveling at the same speed, it will be just like hitting a wall at 60. "To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." That explains it completely with just that once sentence. So "Derp Derp" to you sir.

  • @corvetteboy10 i studied physics. why do you think they did the test at 120? to simulate two cars hitting each other in a head-on collision, each traveling at 60mph, with a resultant speed of 120 mph. he just messed up the introduction.

  • @roosterandabaldguy watch?v=mOFY2kT5LqA Your argument is invalid. Please try again. The normal speed if an IIHS test is 40 MPH... When they crash two cars in to each other, your telling me that all of that damage is from just 20 mph? No. You are wrong.

  • @corvetteboy10 i have NO FUCKING CLUE how you arrived at 20mph. presumably you were like "oh im a math wizard, what can i do to the number 40? i know, i'll divide it by two". all i am saying is that the test they did WAS valid, but the introduction sounded like it had a mistake in it. to put it simply for you, if two cars crash head-on, and each car's speedo reads 20mph, it is equivalent (discounting crumpling) of only ONE CAR hitting a wall at 40mph.

  • @roosterandabaldguy LOL! Not it isn't genus. Damn. If, lets say two Ford Focus cars are going at 20 MPH and they slam in to each other at 20 MPH. The force to Ford A is 20 MPH. Force to Ford B is 20 MPH as well. It is just like hitting a flat wall shown in the video. If the Focus is going 120 MPH and hits another Focus going 120 head-on, They both will get the same force of 120 MPH. Not 240. Three physics classes, and I think I should know what the fuck I'm talking about.

  • @roosterandabaldguy And if you watch this --> watch?v=yUpiV2I_IRI You will learn all you need to know about Physics. You will also learn that you sir, are incorrect.

  • @roosterandabaldguy And to save you the time, skip to 9:50 so you can learn what you were misguided in.

  • @roosterandabaldguy So i guess you should've studied harder. Again: two cars hitting each other head-on at 60mph is the same as hitting a wall at 60mph. It's the deceleration that kills you, and that is the same against a wall and against a car. You will go from 60 to 0 in the same amount of time and distance on both situations.

  • Za ile te tylnie felgi? Kupie do Foki

  • I still do 120 , but I'm not dumb enough to do 120 into a wall lol

  • Why the hell is he acting like real people were in the car lol

  • johnny looks traumatised ><

  • I wonder what proportion of vehicle collisions are even remotely similar to this? A car driving at close to 200km and hitting a virtually immovable, totally solid, totally flat object without any avoidance braking or steering. This makes good (i.e. dramatic, emotional, ratings-boosting) television, but is otherwise ENTIRELY unrealistic, and thus pointless.

  • u guyz r fucking stupid leaving the fluids in it.. its getting pulled by a winch

  • I've always wanted to see 2 high-end sedans (Merc S-Class, BMW 7 Series, etc.) hit each other head-on on Autobahn speeds (>200 kmh). Make it happen!

  • you know what you guys should show? show a head on between 2 cars with another car tailgating, to show what a dumbass tailgater can cause!!

  • well the brick wall is largely immobile so its not exactly like two focuses hitting eachother

  • how girl ?! she ok ?! why not see it at the end of video ?? i a bit worry ....

  • What I want to know is what happens if you're doing 60mph one way, and you impact with a (fully loaded) tractor-trailer going the other way at 60mph? Would it look like the above video?

  • @BCsJonathanTM I have 3 words for you: Newton's Third Law

  • @BCsJonathanTM This would obviously not happen if 2 cars travelling 60mph each collided as the energy would be dispersed between the 2 cars. Here all the energy is absorbed by one single car.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • It's basic physics. 2 cars head on at 60 is the same as hitting a wall at 120.

  • @roates Wrong in so many ways!!!..Look it up. Myth Busters put this to rest.

  • @roates basic physics? basic physics follow Newton's third law, which says that each and every action has an equal reaction.

  • did someone fart at 3:53 ??

  • better way is give me the car so it will make me easier to go to the class

    ^_^

  • I want to try try a smart frotwo crash test at that speed.

  • now its a smart cabrio

  • no mather what car you have, you wouldnt survive that

  • 2:27 ford focus - 2:56 smart car

  • thats why my next car is going to be a fucking mack truck lol

  • @viktorohrid Please read the comments before mine.

  • Comment removed

  • at the VERY MOMENT of impact the energy in both cars is combined to create the crash hence 2x60mph = 120mph. Also when 2 things come together with equal force/energy neither can move the other so become unmovable hence the concrete block.

  • @p24hrsmith and what about deformation?

  • @viktorohrid The speed is measured at the slit second moment of impact BEFORE deformation or anything else takes place. As for deformation absorbing impact 2 identical cars would deform identically so effectively council each other out.

  • Comment removed

  • Well, when I put my foot down I will be able to avoid the massive concrete block in white and red. Speed is progress, not death, you woopsies. And, physics lesson number one, head on with 60 does not add up to 120. Check your physics first, fifth gear, then you might reach top gear some day.

  • @drstevenrey please listen carefully and than comment! They are simulating a head on collision where both cars travel at a speed of 120MPH

  • haha he nearly swears! " the hairs on the back of my neck are sharp as f....... nails

  • there was a fuel leak. i would throw a match after

  • I suppose thats one way to 'become one with the car'

  • mythbusters, been there done that, crashed that.

  • i own a ford focus

im gonna drive it more carefully from now on

  • @Mashmogul You're safe, the focus is one secure ride, just don't go speeding it at 120mph ¬¬

  • at least don't waste the ray ban...

  • What's the name of the song in the end ?

  • That is gonna be a little bit harder to buff out...

  • @chomby1991991 haha, they probably aren't grade12 yet.

  • @chomby1991991 i'm having a real hard time all the time because most of the people is always telling me how bad my english grammar is.

but it's ok. thanks for your answer.

i usually rather not to use translators because they always display grammar mistakes more often than i do.

if i write in my language, and then i convert with a translator and post that, it will be harder to read than my grammar. i'm sorry.

but really. everyone in youtube keeps telling me "bad grammar! bad grammar! bad grammar!

  • "Looks like a piece of modern art!"

  • Eee!

Wyklepie się i sprzeda, jako bez wypadkowy.
