You don't remember correctly. The Declaration of Independence refers to a "creator" but never to God directly.

It's a great song. Though I don't agree with the introduction. God didn't give you the guns and freedoms, the Revolutionaries did, at great sacrifice and hardship, who risked their life for their beliefs.

Of course, it's their event, and they can hold it anyway they want, and people should respect that, rather than just saying it's ruined just because of an opening prayer.

I guess my comment was deleted. Look I like guns as much as the next guy, but mixing Christianity with guns is a little strange to me. Jesus was non-violent and would not condone violence. I realize in order to defend ourselves we have no choice at times to use violence, but let's not pretend Christ didn't say to turn the other cheek and love your enemy.
