fantastic, like the expansion on ghazala'z concept with the RC car on a larger scale. sweet. is it possible to achieve more conventional vinyl back/forth scratches also?
I don't understand the argument. How much time should a person have on their hands? Isn't it ideal to have lots of time, as opposed to, say, sitting in a fockin' cubicle for forty years?
I wonder how long it took to stick all that tape down. I made a much less ambitious version a few years ago, with a tape head mounted on a paint brush handle, and a couple of A4 sheets of tape 'lake'. I thought that was a pretty clever invention, though I later found that Reed Ghazala had come up with it in the 70s. This is by far the best version I've seen, though.
Can you do the same thing with an mp3 or aac version of a song downloaded from Apple iTunes or Napster? Specifically, the song "Better Off Alone (Remix)" by Alice Deejay?
i'm pretty sure it does have things recorded on it. that would give it a broad range of sound, plus, at one point, he does say "the pre-recorded tape"
The playback module's speed is controllable and the sensitivity&speed can be set on the controller. (ie mins and maxes for throttle and turning radius etc) I find that long slow arcs can generate some pretty interesting tones.
