And each time they refused to accept the forms without it. Why is that. Why does the school lunch lady, Sam's Club discout store, and the gym need my SSN. One answer. Because the government wants to be able to profile everyone in the country. The next time you are required to put your SSN on something, ask why.

@robertsmi2 Correct! SSN's WEREN"T to be used as general id's, anymore than an employee is # is to be used as a general id. I've had health clinics insist that they needed my SSN and I refused to give it to them. In some cases they relent, but it's up to us to stop giving in and saying yes so easily. The main reason for ID theft is because we have our SSN's scattered through so many databases and they can easily be stolen. It's our fault basically...
Teenagers would probably be dumb enough to post their SSN on facebook, BUT i bet the majority of teens don't even know it. I know my 16yr old brother doesn't know his. I'm 23, and honestly, I probably wouldn't know mine either, butt a two year college i went to used to use SSN for a student's id number. Don't worry, they have since changed that.
