The government may be what we deserve, but it's certainly not representative. It, by definition, cannot have an ethical outcome. WE know the failure of monopolies, and yet we give the government most of them.
Voting is a poll of a lynch mob. It's no way to organize a free society.
It's much preferable to stop forcing a poll of a lynch mob to decide how to organize your neighbors against their will. Make social contracts voluntary (if engaged in at all).
I completely agree with everything said in the video with one problem. The "better person" IS on the ballot. Ron Paul. Get a clue, liberals. The only man who will defend your liberties, end the wars, and turn the economy around is Ron Paul. He can't and won't do everything, but he's a libertarian. At least you'll be ALLOWED to do it yourself. Switch parties for the primaries and vote for Ron Paul!
@ThePunkPatriot the problems in our society go very deep, problems deeper than ideology can answer. I suggest reading Aldous Huxley's final novel ISLAND.
@ThePunkPatriot What are your thoughts on Duverger's Law that our current plurality rule election system tends towards two party systems? If one believes Duverger's Law has weight then voting for a third party would seem like a doomed to fail proposition every time.
@TheMrsVolfie Me too. I cast my first presidential ballot in 1996 for Harry Browne and have voted for the Libertarian candidate every election cycle since. I'm changing my affiliation to try and become a Republican delegate for Ron Paul. The two-party system and the parties themselves ARE the problem, but if we want to beat them, we have to play by their rules.
Oh they noticed that and they are trying to hide him away.I know the game from the vatican to the freemasons to the nazists rothilds and so on...Most people dont but worse are THEY DONT CARE.. I have I have personally been criticized sharply and been ridiculed by both family and friends to try to tell them. Most people today are brain damaged from cellphones wireless internet and all this shit in your food water chemtrails and propaganda an so on.people have been confused and paralyzed
Excellent video. Blaming "them" for "our" problems has been driving people over the cliff since the beginning of time. Looking in the mirror seems now only to be done for the purposes of vanity, not for self-reflection.
The fact that the dinosaur duopoly has used its grip on the political system to make it virtually impossible for 3rd party candidates to get on the ballot shows that the US is a dictatorship with 2 parties.
I assume this is why Ron Paul is running on the GOP ticket.
"Life" will go on ... cockroaches are apparently immune to ionizing radiation :)
Homo sapiens were a good idea on the drawing board, but in practice they turned out to be (overall) a brutish and aggressive, hubristic, reckless, self-extinguishing specie.
Though mankind may not be the first specie to become extinct, it will definitely be the first that deserved it.
We get the government we deserve. Government leaders are a reflection of society as a whole. If the Government leadership is currupt, then it is because we the people are also currupt. If the majority of the people are uncorruptable and just, then that would reflect in societies leadership as well. As I see it, things will not change until the individual changes themselves, and the prisons shut down because there is no crime.
People aren't naturally corrupt or bad. But that certainly can become narrow-minded, selfish and apathetic when subjected to the right mix of poor education, permanent propaganda, mind-boggling rubbish on the TV and an unhealthy diet.......
But humanity has always been driven forward by a vocal & determined minority.
At the moment, the minority at the helm is a pile of scum.....
If i was American i would vote for Ron Paul. But im not. I do a lot to make this world better and try to educate people but i have never voted. Our politicans is dolls who is controlled by the banks. It really dont matter what party winning.. Instead we need people to wake up.
@sirshaneyboy Oh they noticed that and they are trying to hide him away.I know the game from the vatican to the freemasons to the nazists rothilds and so on.Most people dont but worse are THEY DONT CARE I have I have personally been criticized sharply and been ridiculed by both family and friends to try to tell them. Most people today are brain damaged from cellphones wireless internet and all this shit in your food water chemtrails and propaganda an so on.people have been confused and paralyzed
Most of the facts this fast talking true believing asshole present sound okay but his conclusions remind me of counter-intelligence psychological warfare twisted and soft without basis, my current view is simple I present facts argue the hypocrisy of what I see, and my solution is also simple:
Oscar Wilde supported socialism. He was too dim to notice that it would crush individuality, even though that's what he saw it giving, as it relieved people from poverty, exploitation and want in the face of plenty?
And Einstein supported socialism too because likewise he was too simple to notice the supposedly obvious contradiction between socialism and an individualism as profound as his own?
I notice this video has David Icke's name attached, somehow.
Well, in that case the mention of Hegel is surely confirmed as being the Icke-ian BS about "the Hegelian dialectic being Problem Reaction Solution".
But anyway - a question for the non-voting crowd - on what authority do you rest your will? What or who is the judge of what you wish to impose upon the world? Your dreams differ from tyranny how?
Is it all voting you are against? Explain! else.....citizen beware!
@AsifAsaf He posted my video on his blog for some reason. I find that hilarious. He must either thing I'm a transdimensional shape-shifting lizard person... or he's confident that i'm an awakened person who can see shape-shifting lizard people.
@ThePunkPatriot So I'm assuming you are fervently supporting Ron Paul then, right? The lamestream media and corrupt politicians of both parties have been tell the people Ron Paul is unelectable, after ignoring him or ridiculing him. So if you believe what you're saying, support Ron Paul. He's been standing almost alone against the corruption in Congress for years.
@AsifAsaf Regardless of whether or not I agree, I just want to thank you for posting intelligent sounding arguments in the YouTube comment section. Usually comments are something like "U R GAYWADZ"
@AsifAsaf "I could just as easily, and with more reason say division and distinction are the language of despots."
Then do so. But no, not really, there is nothing wrong w/ a policy of live & let live, & keeping the fruits of your labor. There is no natural law that says I have to work for you. Cooperation is good, but it's by definition not cooperation when the relationship is forced.
@AsifAsaf "Like it or not we are all part of a collective. To deny it is asocial. "
That's like believing in gaia. No scientific evidence. Govmnt's are constructs, man made institutions, positions of power that end up w/ corruption & destroy civilization - and as history has shown w/o exception.
You got a lot to learn kid. Better start by breaking out of that box of yours.
KM: "Doubtless, if the price of all commodities falls -- and this is the necessary consequence of free trade -- I can buy far more for a franc than before. And the worker's france is as good as any other man's. Therefore, free trade will be very advantageous to the worker. There is only little difficulty in this, namely, that the worker, before he exchanges his franc for other commodities, has first exchanged his labor with the capitalist." [for which his price has fallen]
@AsifAsaf A prerequisite for true free trade among individuals is private property & means of production. Abolishing private property & means of production thus excludes the possibility of free trade. You can't have free trade if exchange decisions are restricted to only a few people.
When you've given the list of Hegel's works you're familiar with, you might like to give a little discourse with some specific examples (with source) of where and how he was being "lazy" and "non-objective".
And what's the relationship of Hegel's work to Marx's work?
And what of Marx's work have you actually read? Where is Marx being "lazy" and lacking objectivity? Chapter and verse, please.....
@AsifAsaf 9. Roots of Marxism: messianic communism 10. Marx's vision of communism 11. Alienation, unity, and the dialectic 12. The Marxian system, I: historical materialism and the class struggle 13. The Marxian system, II: the economics of capitalism and its inevitable demise
Rothbard, Murray N. (2010-08-31). Austrian Perspective on the History of Economic Thought (LvMI)
@AsifAsaf Collectivism is the language of tyrants & despots. Marx was all to eager to have his fellow man be told how to live his life for the purpose of ushering in some kind of utopia that would otherwise only be possible in fantasy land. He also often had trouble w/ his finances & had to be bailed out by friends. He made the same error Adam Smith made about price determination.
Millions died to prove the system would work. Enough said.
Maybe if you didn't have to swear so badly I may respect these blogs more. I mean I know, you're ticked off an angry but I couldn't show it to the older folks for this reason....sorry.
Also...voting is useless, they control the Diebold machines now.
(6/6) The problem isn't that I don't understand the philosophy of voting, it's that -you don't understand the philosophy of not voting-. I don't agree with any kind of dictating other people's lives & our system is set up so that to stop one person from dictating you have to dictate. That is not an end to the vicious cycle. It is the vicious cycle. Blaming the system and then saying 'work the system better you lazy fools!' I mean... Really? That's what you think the answer is? Forsake the system
(5/6) I apologize for my lack of experience meeting people with a golden cone of light emanating from their ass at all times but my choice not to vote isn't because I'm too lazy. And I -do- understand, very well in fact, how voting for people who I know won't get enough votes will in the long run be beneficial for third or more parties potential to be elected. My dilemma is I don't agree with the idea that third parties will be any better whatsoever.
(4/6) If somebody tells me I should vote and I see 2 as a proper candidate and the options are 1 and 1.5 (or according to you I should go out and find 1.7) I should just vote for 1.5 'cuz it's closer? No, I'm sorry 1.5 is not 2 and it never will be. It is only close when evaluated by a failure of a measuring system. There are an equally infinite amount of ways to get from 1.5 to 2 and from 1 to 2. In other words they are in a sense equally not 2.
(3/6) What should come with the right to vote is the right NOT to vote and fuck you for thinking I should support somebody whose moral landscapes even I can tell aren't even thought out (not even getting to evaluating them seeing as they themselves haven't even evaluated them) and I haven't even met them. --An unthoughtout moral guiding system means people allow themselves to be guided by something they don't understand; they are easily corrupted.--
(2/6) I mean for a little while I actually considered Obama to be better than the opposition. And now look at all the websites devoted to all the things he did directly in opposition with what he played it off like he'd do. Any kind of voting helps a system I don't agree with because I don't agree with -any- kind of dictating other peoples lives.
(1/6) Apologies in advance for not weening my argument down to one post. I mean... In fairness. What better people do you think there are? You think America is just kind of split between kind intelligent caring individuals who will do things right at a higher consistency and then... Everybody else? We've just hit a run of bad luck with only the everybody else running? Personally I don't vote because I'm an idealist not because I'm lazy, so fuck you don't pretend to know everybody's intentions
@slipknot95maggot Idealism is being intellectually lazy. Marxism is full of contradictions because it was an intellectually lazy doctrine. Marx & Hegel didn't bother to try & think objectively. They just did whatever was easy. So are all ideas behind socialism. How much suffering has that done to the world? Millions of lives lost. More important than voting though, is participating in the national discussion & asking candidates tough questions. It forces more to actually think
@jaeLAX23 In all seriousness can you please explain to me how idealism is intellectually lazy? Are you postulating I'm of this mind because you think I think it's some how easy? Do you think I'm of the mind of giving up? Do you think I -wouldn't- vote for a candidate who I actually could agree with? Do you think I don't have intellectual reasoning behind why I see voting for someone I don't agree with as selling out my own beliefs and see that as exactly what we're -not- supposed to be pursuing?
@jaeLAX23 I have to be honest with you here guy. I don't get out much. Most of my time that isn't spent playing bass is spent sitting and thinking. Trying to call me intellectually lazy just kind of... Makes no sense to me. I realize your comment was directed at idealism and not me specifically, however... You're just wrong there man. I may not be but I'm far from lazy
“Everyone carries a part of society on his shoulders; no one is relieved of his share of responsibility by others. And no one can find a safe way out for himself if society is sweeping toward destruction. Therefore, everyone, in his own interests, must thrust himself vigorously into the intellectual battle.....
@jaeLAX23 .....None can stand aside with unconcern; the interest of everyone hangs on the result. Whether he chooses or not, every man is drawn into the great historical struggle, the decisive battle into which our epoch has plunged us.”
@jaeLAX23 I'm sorry you don't see that I -am- trying to send a message by not voting but... We're not going to get anywhere if you can't understand that. You can argue my message all day long and I'd love the mental stimulation of that debate or any other but you can't sit and say I'm not doing anything. Again, there -is- a philosophy behind not voting. Ooh and marxism and socialism? Nothing to do with what I'm advocating. Save that for a conversation with somebody else
@slipknot95maggot "Again, there -is- a philosophy behind not voting" Nobody is going to here you if you don't get out much. That's what's called isolationism. Read von Mises quote below. What your doing is very low impact. People will never know much less understand why you take that position & it scares most off. And the reference to collectivism was meant to highlight a frightening example of the error of idealism, no matter if the intentions were good. thanks for responding
@jaeLAX23 I was under the impression that I was just explaining it trying to get some understanding out... And uum... Low impact? Need every action be ground shaking? What happened to baby steps? What about doing what I feel is right even if it won't convince other people? Especially when I've told [you] that I don't agree with dictating others lives
@slipknot95maggot Fair enough. But, do really think William Lloyd Garrison & the abolitionist or the Founders would have accomplished what they did by incrementalism? I really don't think so.
And there is nothing "dictating" about sharing your ideas w/ others. They can easily be dismissed just as you've chosen to dismiss mine.
@jaeLAX23 Isn't there? Sure they can be dismissed but they can also be abused same as anything else. An the simple sharing isn't what I was tryin to call out anyway. As to the first half I'm still not sure you're past the idea that I want to 'accomplish' something. Which is a shame. Strictly speaking it's impossible to guess how something would have happened if it had happened differently so I take that point as incremental itself (& yet it seems to have accomplished gettin your point across xp)
@jaeLAX23 (2/3) If your claim is that incrementalism hasn't really accomplished anything you're fighting an uphill battle. If it was just banking on the hope that I'm just blissfully unaware of any and all times it -has- worked (and quite well in fact as far as getting done what was set out to be done) and you only wanted to shut me up as I would be unaware of a proper response then at least I see where you're coming from, but you would be sadly mistaken friend
@jaeLAX23 (3/3) One example of someone doing somethin with force, strong will, determination, lack of 'bending' so to speak, and a lack of any procrastination or any such thing hardly proves that any other way -won't- work. That is faulty logic at work. Sure that way got done what it set out to do. But that doesn't mean it's the only way by any stretch of the imagination nor even that it was the right way.
@jaeLAX23 (this is me after underestimating how much I'd type...) Yet again, if you just think I'm unaware of incrementalism winning any battles you should probably try to have this convo w/ somebody else, and if you're unaware of it yourself allow me to tell you it's worked plenty. In fact I would argue calling it incrementalism in the first place. It only fulfills that title when evaluated by somebody ignorant of what was trying to be accomplished in the first place. In this instance anyway.
Bravo! I've been a delegate for Dennis Kucinich when he ran for president. People kept telling me, even at the convention, that he was "unelectable." Well hell, if people voted for him, he would be electable!
I love this guy he's painfully right. So get out into your communities and do something for yourself. Yes for yourself! Because when you work in your community for your community , you benefit.
Right!!! People deserve the government they have But You didn´t say any thing about the fight against illegal drugs, Drugs are killing many people direct and indirectly every day many young people is committing suicide because of drugs
Presidents are not elected by ballot, they are selected by blood." ( Illuminati Bloodlines )
Voting is there to make people THINK that they have a say, When in Reality,.... They do not.
IE: If you were the head of a corporation, would you let the Peons and Lackeys decide who runs it next!? NO! / You would hold a fake ballot to make the employees think they are doing something to change the company, and give them the warm fuzzies, whilst you choose who is up next!
SUCKS ? Yes, It's like a black hole and will suck itself off ( Implode by design ). I wont last forever , so don't worry . You can only get so good at sucking , then you have to find something else to get good at when you get bored of being good ...... at sucking. Good rant .
Hold on there, mister. You talk about adding candidates who are now simply picked off the bottom of the list in the last TWO YEAR ELECTION PROCESS which traditionally should take only 7 months.
Were you watching the Bluedogs cancelling out every single progressive vote for the last 11 years?
I sent 100's of letters to all 3 houses. Didn't you notice the voting system is nothing but appearances? Haven't you noticed key persons are nothjing more than figures supporting an IMAGE
@IronicalSmirk ....AND , NO. i DON'T DESERVE THIS, we have a system impervious to rational effort..
If we don't legally claim dominion over our own cities and states to corporate intrusion, unplugging from THEIR system we are exerting ourselves futilly, pointlessly giving them more time to fuck us over.
The system as you ASSUME it does not exist, friend.
...We you paying attention Jan '11 when all those congress/governor/senate positions were reshuffled?
That was deliberate to set up the image of rethugs having more power as they now rummage in the shit bin of humanity for someone to 'represent' them with an iq over room temperature.
Dems/indeps and all the rest are ALSO playing this illusary game, we are being set up for a world of hurt according to script. Shell game. Chess. We lose every time.
@ThePunkPatriot Only via implication when you said everybody ought to vote, and simply went over a few elements (space allows) that has caused my now complete revulsion at what i perceive to be utter manipulation by gov't, media, the whole bogus election season.exercise in wearing us out while they rob us fucking blind. I do think you are brilliant by the way.
@ThePunkPatriot Ok, we've seen it work IN THE PAST. We're not in Kansas anymore.
imho, even the Ron Paulers are in for a bait 'n switch. does anyone in their right mind actually believe a person as such would be allowed to function?, Pull out at the last hour?
Sorry, my disenchanted puke response is involuntary at this point and thorough to the core.
@IronicalSmirk in case it needs to be said i am the farthest thing from a troll possible. egalitarian all the way. i want all boats to rise, the return of plain human decency. it is possible to have healthy competition in caplitalism so long as there are reasonable constraints on usury and predation, etc.
I can't tell you how heartsick i and millions more are flattened by grief as corps destroy environments & species whenever they f'king want I HATE THEIR GUTS.
Appealing to Luther King´s or Gandhi´s ideas of civilization in 2012 is useless. We should be a little more original, since the inevitable collapse of the system as we know it is quite original as well. This has nothing to do with what happened in the 50´s or 60´s. Well… at least Luther King or Gandhi never said that people suck.
@LightEmergence "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" - Edmund Burke.
Vaclav Havel often railed against his fellow Czechs for numbly taking it in the ass from Soviet Occupiers, when they could have done SOMETHING, ANYTHING to stand up for their rights. This didn't make him popular. But he was right. I would rather be right than popular.
@ThePunkPatriot Vaclav Havel was also a right winger that brought inequality to the working people during his time as president that opened the flood gates to "free-market", being raised rich of course he held the banner high against communism only because he sought the comfy life.
Don't mistake him as a person that was standing up for rights.
@Mikkhailov I happen to be a little better studied in Vaclav Havel than most. For one I know who he is. Second, "right-winger" in Czechoslovakia meant "Democratic Socialism." And he opposed the total free-market crap that came after he become president. Don't pin him with blame for what's not his.
Purely demagogic discourse; he naively believs that we live in a democracy. We actually live in a technocracy that is empowered by psychopaths, and that is economically driven as a plutocracy. This guy should start updating his own ideas before pretending to update his country.
This system will change soon.Dont blink or you will miss it.On another note,i undertsand your anger but dont rant n rave, non compliece will suffice. These political morons are only pupets anyway and dont deserve your emotion.Watch this space......
What if you vote for someone who says the right things, and then does something different? What is your recourse? That is what us cynics keep bringing up.
@TreachMarkets Then you vote their ass out, run for office, etc. You can't do NOTHING. "The only thing required for evil men to succeed is for good men to do nothing" MLK Jr
@ThePunkPatriot It's a catch-22 then. I already explained why voting them out doesn't work. Isn't that one of the tenets of the Occupy movement, that the system isn't working now and we have to go outside it to demand real change? I'd hardly say that they are doing nothing.
@TreachMarkets No. We are not making demands. That assumes that those in power are willing to coalesce to our demands. You have to understand power relations. The one thing that they want from us, is our vote. Witholding it doesn't work. Giving it to somebody outside the power structure, does.
@TreachMarkets A big part of our problem are the insults and aggressive dialogue made mainstream ugliness by none other than it's msm founder of crude speech, Fats Limbaugh.
If those of us who really have similar leanings just punctuate with insults then we will never go deeper and reach the solutions we desperately need. We won't get to the root causes and solutions.
btw, how people are perceiving is clearer thru suffering than in the past 11 yrs. Don't berate, just look!
@TreachMarkets Agree. I see people everywhere desperate for solutions in addition to Occupy movement.
Pulling out slogans which don't quite jibe with our predicament with all sorts of complexities which call for strategy dealing with the obstacles these snakes have been piling up esp last 10 yrs calls for much more than guilt provocation and helplessness.
.
Folks i know are looking for REAL direction & solutions in this globally dark time.
And I don't think any candidate can change the system. It is too far gone. He would have to change the majority of Congress, who are corrupt and self-serving. He would also have to change the corporations and the banks. I do applaud what you are saying, that people need to take a bigger stake in things. But working outside the system, to me, is the way to do that, not trying to change it from within.
@jblanch3 It's not an either/or thing. You have do do it all. You have to work both outside and inside the system. The system is going to impose it's will on you through force, and noncompliance isn't enough until you have the total backing of a vast majority, all operating in a secondary economy, which won't happen anytime soon.
The only thing less effective than voting, is not voting.
I don't understand the arguments of people like this guy, who look at non-voting as some form of social ill. I feel that the high levels of non-voting are a natural thing in this society. 2008 was my last election, because I realized that it was a degrading process designed to give us the illusion that we have power. We don't. If all the non-voters rose up and voted for a third-party radical candidate, that candidate wouldn't make it to the White House.
@gamozak Capitalists rule the world, but only if you let them. Doing nothing is letting them rule the world. Voting for Democrats and Republicans is letting them. Vote third party. Throw them for a loop.
@ThePunkPatriot I understand your argument and I support it and I do vote for pirate party but I doubt that it will change much. I am not from US but people here had done that in the past and they have voted for 3. Party and that party broke almost all important election pledges and acted instead in the interest of the capital and corporations. Now as that 3. party became established you can't distinguish them from other mainstream political parties.
Do you really believe who you elect decides how your country is governed? When you vote you give someone else permission to act in your name, not for you. There is an agenda already in place and your opinion, when it comes to voting, is totally irrelevant. The electoral system is nothing more than an illusion to make you think that your vote counts, it is another way of controlling you... continued
@ThePunkPatriot They would not allow someone like me to run. I am not mainstream. I would not be prepared to play ball with corporate American nor am I prepared to keep my mouth shut nor would I allow those greedy, murdering sob’s to continue poisoning our lands and our children to get away with it.
@raythiwave That's bullshit. There is no THEY that isn't allowing people to run. There is no room with levers and buttons that controls the outcome of world events. Your destiny is yours to create. Quit shirking your responsibility.
For those of you that do vote, what are you going to do when the person you voted for does dose not fulfil their election promise? Are you going to switch political sides which is what tends to happen. Do You really think by switching it will make any difference?... continued
@ThePunkPatriot That is a ridicules suggestion. Of course there are more than 2 parties. It makes no difference who you vote for you will still end up with the same bs. A president has many bosses and the people who vote for him are not one of them.
@IronicalSmirk in addition, i don't mean to imply Vt will go unscathed in this global plan, Vt can be the example for other states but that is not realistic as things stand.
(yet another regional band of governors appointed to cancel out the desire and exercise of states sovereignty).
Rogues legalizing their own crimes of theft and murder are steering us into the sun, and open vocals will get you pointlessly martyred.
Oh, i know what needs to happen alright. just not on YT.
What are the real differences between President Bush and Obama? Have the policies changed or has there been a continuation of the same agenda? Did you really vote for what Obama is doing? Did you really vote for what Bush has done? Yet you are still being taken down the same political road. Why is that?
We are at an impasse. Vote and you perpetuate a system that has been proven not to work. Or don't vote and you are not doing anything to fix the broken system and you are just as bad as those who voted. The only option left is to revolt. Reset the system to its roots and start over removing everyone who had a hand in the previous system.
Are these people commenting serious? Are you fucking serious? Removing democracy is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard. Find a history book and start reading for christ sake. People have never had as much power as they have in democracy. Dont blame democracy on peoples stupiditiy, its the only system that gives people what they actually deserve. If people are stupid fucks, they deserve to live in a crappy nation.
democracy was designed to fool dumbed down people into believing they have power. You obviously believe you can use the system to get the government you want. This is not true, YOU WILL NEVER GET THE GOVERMENT YOU WANT BECAUSE YOU ARE A DUMB SHEEP. A government voted in to power on no votes would be a better way to wake up more dumb sheep. At least the people would know they live in a fasicst dictatorship.
they don't vote because it's been proven that their votes don't count. and if they don't vote the idiots vote are the only ones counted. a catch 22 of sorts. if all don't vote then that's the best thing to do.
Dont vote. Its only there to make you feel like you have a say. Its a stitch up from start to finish. Zero compliance. No one votes - then we take the power back. Good video nonetheless.
Your vote doesn't count. It's all rigged especially now with electronic voting. Bush winning is the best example. When the "hanging chad" situation happened, they realized they needed an easier way to control the elections, hence they introduced the electronic voting machines.
If you think your vote makes a difference I feel bad for you. The people of this nation do not choose the president. Men in dark suits meeting in secret locations do.

When you dont vote, rules of minority doesnt apply to you !
Why?? Because you dont give the right to deside your life for 4 or 5 years to another MESSIAH in White House (or any other government around the globe). When you go voting - you EXPECT MESSIAH to change your shit life! Admit it and GROW UP finally!
A great argument for making voting mandatory, but even Australia, where I believe this is already in place, has it's fair share of shitty politicians.
@KrissytheWorldWithin and as far as the president would you have him irgnore the laws and do what he thinks is right? would you have him let go people who we know will make it their lives mission to kill us all ( cause i would) it seems like you are just point out evey flaw ad your not thinkin about how this will be done, you say people are dumb and lazy i think you are, ITS EASY TO SIT BACK AND BITCH WHAT IS THE SOLUTION WHAT IF WE DONT AGREE WITH YOUR SOLUTION?
While you're mostly correct about people who don't vote...there are those of us that used to be very politically active but are now so pissed...we just don't want to have anything to do with it, anymore. Not all Iraq/Afghanistan vets are like me on this issue. But many of us just have a level of hatred for how fucked up our government is...we just don't give a shit, anymore. But I respect what you're saying.
@thesmitty2012 WHY CANT YOU GET THIS, DO YOU THNK CHANGING PEOPLE IN OFFICE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE?? IF YOU WERE IN OFFICE YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO AN YTHING DIFFERENT, UNLESS YOU GET PEOPLE IN CONGRESS TO JOIN YOU? HOW WOULD YOU DO THIS? IF YOU WERE PRESIDENT HOW WOULD YOU GET A BILL PASSED? WOULD YOU RE WRITE THE CONT.? WHY AR WE STILL PLAYING GAMES, YOU MUST KNOW HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS DO OU WNAT TO GET RID OF SYSTEM? WILL NOT MATTER PROBLEM ARE THE PEOPLE NOT SYSTEM
@cassandrabadie You make a very good point. However, I have absolutely zero faith in humanity. Yes, the system is made up of people. But people suck. Atleast 90% of them suck. Now YOU may be a good person but the chances of finding enough good people to put into office? Whew! I just don't think it's possible. But I could be wrong. I'm 40 years old now and I've seen exactly nada.
So what does the critique of Obama say about whether or not the US people are shitty? You're saying it's the people's fault because we don't vote for a 3rd or 4th party? My theory is that we can agree on the 2 parties, it's just that their shitty because the majority of America is shitty. Face it, we're just a bunch of immature, materialistic bafoons. Our greatest asset is that we're easily controlled by capitalist cultural control.
@23ord WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE GREEDY IN EVERY GROUP EVEN AMONG YOUR FREINDS SO CHANGING PEOPLE R SYSTEMS OR GROUPS IS MEANINGLESS WE NEED THE LAWS TO CATCH UP WITH TECH, THAT WILL HALP SOME, WE NEED PEOPLE TO KEEP TRACK OF WHAT THEIR CONGRESS PEOPLE ARE DOING EVERY MONTH, WE NEED TO REMENBER AND VOTE OUT THOSE WHO FAIL US, BUT WE STILL HAVE A PROLEM BECAUSE IF MAJ OF PEOPEL ARE WRONG VOTING TEIR INTREST, WHAT HAPPENS TO REST OF US?
Voting is pretty much a waste in this environment because the majority are clueless, you're much better off getting involved in grass roots organizations to make change. And that takes more work. By the way, these are the types of things Noam Chomsky advocates. And by the way, I am one of the folks who does something and know many others who do. I understand your point but it definitely swaths over things much to broadly, sort of vacuous.
I'll vote Ron Paul, in self defense.

The two-party system and the parties themselves ARE the problem, but if we want to beat them, we have to play by their rules.

Most major political parties are indeed controlled by banks & rich corporations.
Waking people up to this fact is one way to bring about change.

Creating new movements, like the Pirate Party in Germany, is yet another.

KM: "Doubtless, if the price of all commodities falls -- and this is the necessary consequence of free trade -- I can buy far more for a franc than before. And the worker's france is as good as any other man's. Therefore, free trade will be very advantageous to the worker. There is only little difficulty in this, namely, that the worker, before he exchanges his franc for other commodities, has first exchanged his labor with the capitalist." [for which his price has fallen]
AsifAsaf 1 month ago
@jaelax - elsewhere you have written: "But Paul WANTS TO CONNECT THE WORLD, but through peace & free trade, not conquest through military might ..."
====
You know Marx supported FreeTrade? For instance:
- "The protectionists have never protected small industry, handicraft proper."
"The Repeal of the Corn Laws in England is the greatest triumph of free trade in the 19th century."
"The Repeal of the Corn Laws in England is the greatest triumph of free trade in the 19th century. "
AsifAsaf 1 month ago

Thejbirdy 1 month ago
(6/6) The problem isn't that I don't understand the philosophy of voting, it's that -you don't understand the philosophy of not voting-. I don't agree with any kind of dictating other people's lives & our system is set up so that to stop one person from dictating you have to dictate. That is not an end to the vicious cycle. It is the vicious cycle. Blaming the system and then saying 'work the system better you lazy fools!' I mean... Really? That's what you think the answer is? Forsake the system
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
(5/6) I apologize for my lack of experience meeting people with a golden cone of light emanating from their ass at all times but my choice not to vote isn't because I'm too lazy. And I -do- understand, very well in fact, how voting for people who I know won't get enough votes will in the long run be beneficial for third or more parties potential to be elected. My dilemma is I don't agree with the idea that third parties will be any better whatsoever.
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
(4/6) If somebody tells me I should vote and I see 2 as a proper candidate and the options are 1 and 1.5 (or according to you I should go out and find 1.7) I should just vote for 1.5 'cuz it's closer? No, I'm sorry 1.5 is not 2 and it never will be. It is only close when evaluated by a failure of a measuring system. There are an equally infinite amount of ways to get from 1.5 to 2 and from 1 to 2. In other words they are in a sense equally not 2.
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
(3/6) What should come with the right to vote is the right NOT to vote and fuck you for thinking I should support somebody whose moral landscapes even I can tell aren't even thought out (not even getting to evaluating them seeing as they themselves haven't even evaluated them) and I haven't even met them. --An unthoughtout moral guiding system means people allow themselves to be guided by something they don't understand; they are easily corrupted.--
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
(2/6) I mean for a little while I actually considered Obama to be better than the opposition. And now look at all the websites devoted to all the things he did directly in opposition with what he played it off like he'd do. Any kind of voting helps a system I don't agree with because I don't agree with -any- kind of dictating other peoples lives.
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
(1/6) Apologies in advance for not weening my argument down to one post. I mean... In fairness. What better people do you think there are? You think America is just kind of split between kind intelligent caring individuals who will do things right at a higher consistency and then... Everybody else? We've just hit a run of bad luck with only the everybody else running? Personally I don't vote because I'm an idealist not because I'm lazy, so fuck you don't pretend to know everybody's intentions
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
@slipknot95maggot Idealism is being intellectually lazy. Marxism is full of contradictions because it was an intellectually lazy doctrine. Marx & Hegel didn't bother to try & think objectively. They just did whatever was easy. So are all ideas behind socialism. How much suffering has that done to the world? Millions of lives lost. More important than voting though, is participating in the national discussion & asking candidates tough questions. It forces more to actually think
jaeLAX23 1 month ago
@jaeLAX23 In all seriousness can you please explain to me how idealism is intellectually lazy? Are you postulating I'm of this mind because you think I think it's some how easy? Do you think I'm of the mind of giving up? Do you think I -wouldn't- vote for a candidate who I actually could agree with? Do you think I don't have intellectual reasoning behind why I see voting for someone I don't agree with as selling out my own beliefs and see that as exactly what we're -not- supposed to be pursuing?
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
@jaeLAX23 I have to be honest with you here guy. I don't get out much. Most of my time that isn't spent playing bass is spent sitting and thinking. Save that for a conversation with somebody else
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
@slipknot95maggot "Again, there -is- a philosophy behind not voting" Nobody is going to here you if you don't get out much. That's what's called isolationism. Read von Mises quote below. What your doing is very low impact. People will never know much less understand why you take that position & it scares most off. And the reference to collectivism was meant to highlight a frightening example of the error of idealism, no matter if the intentions were good. thanks for responding

slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
@slipknot95maggot Fair enough. But, do really think William Lloyd Garrison & the abolitionist or the Founders would have accomplished what they did by incrementalism? I really don't think so.
And there is nothing "dictating" about sharing your ideas w/ others. They can easily be dismissed just as you've chosen to dismiss mine.
jaeLAX23 1 month ago
@jaeLAX23 Isn't there? Sure they can be dismissed but they can also be abused same as anything else. An the simple sharing isn't what I was tryin to call out anyway. As to the first half I'm still not sure you're past the idea that I want to 'accomplish' something. Which is a shame. Strictly speaking it's impossible to guess how something would have happened if it had happened differently so I take that point as incremental itself (& yet it seems to have accomplished gettin your point across xp)
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
@jaeLAX23 (2/3) If your claim is that incrementalism hasn't really accomplished anything you're fighting an uphill battle. If it was just banking on the hope that I'm just blissfully unaware of any and all times it -has- worked (and quite well in fact as far as getting done what was set out to be done) and you only wanted to shut me up as I would be unaware of a proper response then at least I see where you're coming from, but you would be sadly mistaken friend
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
@jaeLAX23 (3/3) One example of someone doing somethin with force, strong will, determination, lack of 'bending' so to speak, and a lack of any procrastination or any such thing hardly proves that any other way -won't- work. That is faulty logic at work. Sure that way got done what it set out to do. But that doesn't mean it's the only way by any stretch of the imagination nor even that it was the right way.
slipknot95maggot 1 month ago
@jaeLAX23 (this is me after underestimating how much I'd type...) Yet again, if you just think I'm unaware of incrementalism winning any battles you should probably try to have this convo w/ somebody else, and if you're unaware of it yourself allow me to tell you it's worked plenty. In fact I would argue calling it incrementalism in the first place. It only fulfills that title when evaluated by somebody ignorant of what was trying to be accomplished in the first place. In this instance anyway.

@ThePunkPatriot It's a catch-22 then. I already explained why voting them out doesn't work. Isn't that one of the tenets of the Occupy movement, that the system isn't working now and we have to go outside it to demand real change? I'd hardly say that they are doing nothing.
TreachMarkets 1 month ago
@TreachMarkets No. We are not making demands. That assumes that those in power are willing to coalesce to our demands. You have to understand power relations. The one thing that they want from us, is our vote. Witholding it doesn't work. Giving it to somebody outside the power structure, does.
ThePunkPatriot 1 month ago
@TreachMarkets A big part of our problem are the insults and aggressive dialogue made mainstream ugliness by none other than it's msm founder of crude speech, Fats Limbaugh.
If those of us who really have similar leanings just punctuate with insults then we will never go deeper and reach the solutions we desperately need. We won't get to the root causes and solutions.
btw, how people are perceiving is clearer thru suffering than in the past 11 yrs. Don't berate, just look!
IronicalSmirk 1 month ago
@TreachMarkets Agree. I see people everywhere desperate for solutions in addition to Occupy movement.
Pulling out slogans which don't quite jibe with our predicament with all sorts of complexities which call for strategy dealing with the obstacles these snakes have been piling up esp last 10 yrs calls for much more than guilt provocation and helplessness.
.
Folks i know are looking for REAL direction & solutions in this globally dark time.
i cannot be angry with them.

And I don't think any candidate can change the system. It is too far gone. He would have to change the majority of Congress, who are corrupt and self-serving. He would also have to change the corporations and the banks. I do applaud what you are saying, that people need to take a bigger stake in things. But working outside the system, to me, is the way to do that, not trying to change it from within.
jblanch3 1 month ago
@jblanch3 It's not an either/or thing. You have do do it all. You have to work both outside and inside the system. The system is going to impose it's will on you through force, and noncompliance isn't enough until you have the total backing of a vast majority, all operating in a secondary economy, which won't happen anytime soon.
The only thing less effective than voting, is not voting.
ThePunkPatriot 1 month ago
I don't understand the arguments of people like this guy, who look at non-voting as some form of social ill. I feel that the high levels of non-voting are a natural thing in this society. 2008 was my last election, because I realized that it was a degrading process designed to give us the illusion that we have power. We don't. If all the non-voters rose up and voted for a third-party radical candidate, that candidate wouldn't make it to the White House.
jblanch3 1 month ago
@jblanch3 That's bullshit. If the 60% who didn't vote voted for Nader, Nader would be president right now.
ThePunkPatriot 1 month ago
you will not be able to change system from inside the system. Democracy is a fraud and capitalists rule the world.
gamozak 1 month ago 2
@gamozak Capitalists rule the world, but only if you let them. Doing nothing is letting them rule the world. Voting for Democrats and Republicans is letting them. Vote third party. Throw them for a loop.
ThePunkPatriot 1 month ago
@ThePunkPatriot I understand your argument and I support it and I do vote for pirate party but I doubt that it will change much. I am not from US but people here had done that in the past and they have voted for 3. Party and that party broke almost all important election pledges and acted instead in the interest of the capital and corporations. Now as that 3. party became established you can't distinguish them from other mainstream political parties.

Thanks for the motivation to vote and a clear, understandable statement of why I should.

Do you really believe who you elect decides how your country is governed? When you vote you give someone else permission to act in your name, not for you. There is an agenda already in place and your opinion, when it comes to voting, is totally irrelevant. The electoral system is nothing more than an illusion to make you think that your vote counts, it is another way of controlling you... continued

@raythiwave Maybe you should run for office yourself. Ever think of that?

@ThePunkPatriot They would not allow someone like me to run. I am not mainstream. @raythiwave That's bullshit. There is no THEY that isn't allowing people to run. There is no room with levers and buttons that controls the outcome of world events. Your destiny is yours to create. Quit shirking your responsibility.

@ThePunkPatriot That is a ridicules suggestion. Of course there are more than 2 parties. It makes no difference who you vote for you will still end up with the same bs. A president has many bosses and the people who vote for him are not one of them.

@gulbirk We haven't had a democracy for some time froggy, watch out, your skin is starting to blister.
If you're referring to democratic Voting then you've not been paying attention to how people are being played. Or reading from decent sources.

democracy was designed to fool dumbed down people into believing they have power.

How about such argument:
When you dont vote, rules of minority doesnt apply to you !
Why?? Because you dont give the right to deside your life for 4 or 5 years to another MESSIAH in White House (or any other government around the globe). When you go voting - you EXPECT MESSIAH to change your shit life! Admit it and GROW UP finally!
