@LesbianVampireLover, Get rid of the cat5e and upgrade to cat6 and lose the old router and replace with a gigabyte ported one, you'll see the true lightning speed that this switch will carry for you. gigabyte speeds are not attainable without gigabyte compliant accessories.
I just hooked mine up and first up is my 6Mbps 1080i video of Amy Winehouse at Glastonbury (2007) from my Western Digital Cavier Black 1TB network drive. A little stutter at first until it got all buffered up, then smooth. This is running over a cat 5 wired connection with a Linksys WRT54GL. Sweet.
