I just watched their vid Flesh and Bone from the movie Suck. I come here and think wtf??? I was never a fan of punk rock. I'd really like to see these guys do some hard rock and metal in the vein of Flesh and Bone. That song is freakin' awesome...
okay, ass-holes, did anybody notice that this song FUcking Rocks!!! The Drummer Tears it up, the bassist holds solid and the guitar plays and sings while the whole band is right there together with one another. on cue no discrepancies. this is one of the best, high energy live shows i've seen on a talkshow ever. yo give up dudes, the shit is banging
I disagree with the Nirvana wannabe statement as well, but then again, if you're going to copy one band from the last 25 years, Nirvana's a good one to pick.
@superdryvideo That's a three chord verse. There are THOUSANDS of songs with three chord verses, a lot coming way before Nirvana's time. You could say Nirvana copied "The Passenger" by Iggy Pop.
They are famous!!! Just didn't get the success that people like to measure by. I got to see them open up for A Perfect Circle and they blew me away! I've been to most of their shows in LA since then and they are a great band live. Definitely one of my favorite all time bands. Dimitri and Mel are both really nice people and interact with their fans. I really hope that once OFF! is done touring they come back and take the world by storm.
how long ago was kurt?!?!?!?! seriously did anyone think that another dude may not have a similar voice one of these days. some comparable riff structures early in this song but kurt never time changed. kinda reaching for something to really compare these two bands. both are great however. well BB's not quite as great.
these guys are way heavier than nirvana, and if you listen to their later stuff its not the least little bit like Nirvana. I will point out that Burning Brides' first appearance on a record was on a Nirvana tribute. I think he's a better guitarist than Kurt, and personally I don't really like Cobain's voice either, but he was a good songwriter. whatever! it's all music!
@ossguitarist1 LOL not even close???? you deaf man? it's actually pretty apparent. If you're a musician you might see the similarities in his guitar tone, use of chords and raspy singing... Which does actually sound close to Kurt Cobains.
not to mention they are also a 3 piece band.
Music is getting recycled here, pretty sure the guitarists wrote the songs and is trying to re-ignite the nirvana flame that died with kurt.
@epiphysis I've been a musician for a long time. Anyone who plays music has an easier time noting differences in music than you do. People like you that i've met throughout my life try to compare everything to kurt. Next, i bet you'll say silverchair was )ust like nirvana, too... right? All because he moans like him once in a while.
You told OSSGuitarist "If you're a musician".. very funny. you belong on TBS. =]
@ossguitarist1 oh no i'm not comparing everything to Kurt and nirvana. Just these guys. Read a few comments down, they even paid tribute to kurt. So they are obviously influenced. My comments may come off with a negative twist to them or may hold venom, but i'm just stating an observation based on this video (judging my observation as uneducated) Have I gone to all of their videos to further my observation? hell no. Just ignore me. And no I've honestly never compared Silverchair to Nirvana.
@epiphysis I know they were on the nirvana tribute album. I found Burning Brides when they were touring with Local H, and Queens of the Stoneage. They're not really Nirvana fans. I've spent a lot of time talking with Dmitri. I was surprised too, believe me, because i thought they have the grit of nirvana, and his scream is almost as otherworldy as kurt's.
The silverchair comment.. man everyone called them nirvana. even me 15 years ago!
@epiphysis You could literally pick hundreds of bands out there today and say they are Nirvana wannabes. That's like saying that alot of rock bands sound like Van Halen or Metallica. It's not like Nirvana was doing something incredibly sophisticated or original. Other bands are destined to sound at least a little bit like them, what with the loud amps and power chords.

My friend bought that particular Orange Amp that Dmitri is playing in this video.
He uses it all the time with his band. It's the best sounding guitar amplifier I have ever heard.
