I wish we could get written compression charts of everything that it was done in Parachutes miking etc.., just like guitar players can buy chord and tabs books.
Just go's to show...if you're hot right now. You can be an ass and, treat everyone as if they are below you. And, If you were great; and now just getting by, you will kiss their ass to help you out. Just Do your thing. Run it up the flagpole - hope someone salutes it. As engineers and producer's - we are just as fleeting as the talent we record. You're only as good as what you just did.Live by these word's and hope for the best! Then, you might be lucky enough to be one of these guy's.
Regarding the automatic delay compensation in Pro Tools... This is one area where Apple Logic is superior and one of the main reasons why I choose Logic over Pro Tools.
i'm currently going to school to become an engineer and this show is a great resource for information. Things i don't understand i make a note of it and look it up later. Thank you for what you are doing for the audio world.
don't change a thing! i love the how the show doesn't always follow the same format. the skype interviews are great, the live interviews, are great, and i love the overall relaxed, fun vibe of the show.
So with the multi-bus compression technique mentioned here, what this dude doess its to emulate a pulse? sort of what the good musicians of yesterday use to do without any help from machines?? BRILLIANT !! :D
hello, just want to start of by saying, great show. i have recently found your show and i have learned a lot of good things and i want to sat thank you to dave and his guest.
how can i train my ears to hear compression and all the different colors that it can give a sound or vocal.
Thank you for your time, really hope you can answer my question.
p.s. it would be great if you dedicated a show on different compressors and how they affect the sound. Give examples and what not, thankz
Great show... I learned a ton on this one and Brauer seems like a genuinely great guy. Very fun. He seemed very willing to share what he knows... good stuff.
btw guys I think the reason why the multibus approach doesn't work in Pro Tools is because PT handles bus latency and aux latency not in the same way - no sienced behind this -> only my speculation
I wonder if we can audiosuite the compressors on the tracks to avoid latency multiple times? I'm gonna try it later. Thanx for all the info. God Bless! : )
One of the best episodes right here. I love it, thanks so much guys! Michael Brauer, thank you for all your insight and all your passion in your career, you have given me a lot of inspiration, and thanks dave and everyone for asking him such good questions. I know this is just a youtube comment but seriously, thank you!! Also that giveaway is really awesome, I am really looking forward to the winner. Can't wait for the next episode.
I can not imagine this show can get a lot better than it is in this episode! this totally cleared up my misunderstanding about "mixing into the compressor" in the Brauerize Method! I'll definitely try it out finally. THAAANKS guys!
High level stuff.

He's buying plugins instead of gear because those racks are full of gear, front and back. I've seen it. And a shout-out to Fletcher in there :-p
