The Shack is helping a lot of non christians understand God's unconditional love, forgiveness and the Trinity -which the CHURCH has really really MESSED UP, the book doesn't replace the Bible it is just a story of Gods great LOVE....

Speaking of keeping people from reading books, the most important one to prevent them from looking at is The Bible. You should start there. Oh, but I am overlooking the fact that most Christians haven't even bothered to read much of it. I'm sure that if they did, they would realize what a bunch of hokey garbage it is.

dont mess up what says in the book. the author of the shack never said that God is equal with us as humans; no way! he said the exact opposite, in the book, Papa explains to Mack clearly how no man can ever figure out or become what God is and how powerful and good He is.

His entire purpose is writing this book was to show how God is "what WE need him to be". This is not a Biblical understanding of God. Also, in the major discourse on hierarchy there is a statement that says man is in equal relationship with God. Here is the quote which presents this idea:

First of all quit twisting scripture and making out to say something it's not. Imagery is different than allegory. God can use what ever He wishes, but He will not say things through those means which contradict His established Word. Finally, read a literal translation not a paraphrase when trying to prove a point using scripture.

i think you are really missing the point with the shack. the book itself was ment to be completely allagorical. so the fact that God is portrayed in an unorthadox manor dosnt really matter. this book is actually much like the pilgrim's progress by john bunyon. it is not ment to be taken literally it is ment to strengthen your walk with the lord, and spiritually help you come to some serious revalations.

The only problem is that revelation can only come through inspired text, and the only inspired text is the Word of God, not "The Shack." God should always be portrayed in an orthodox manner! Have you even read Pilgrim's Progress? The Shack is a kindergarten book compared to John Bunyan's work, and Bunyan had basically no education. Your ignorance of orthodoxy and theology show when you compare a theologically overflowing masterpiece with something that belongs to the dogs of heresy.

did you kno that bunyon wrote that in prison? the church at the time declared it as heresy, the shack is the pilgrim's progress of our time. it was a new way of looking at God all together. the pilgrim's progress isnt all that orthodox at all but it helped people in there walk with God. just because i read the book dosnt mean its my new bible or do i think God is going to appear to me as a big black lady, but i do think it takes God out of the box that we tend to put him in.

Dude, get your history straight. John Owen, a great church father and leader in the church of England, was the first to read Pilgrim's Progress and the reason it was printed. The church of England put Bunyan in prison because he preached without a license not because he taught heresy. The Shack is heretical not in it's allegorical presentation of God, but in it's unbiblical presentation of the trinity as "without hierarchy of authority."

i actually agree with you on the pint about the trinity, its description of a trinity where the father is not the head of the trinity is unbiblical. but that dosnt mean that you cant walk away from the shack with soom knowledge and a better understanding of God. and theres probably a reason that the church of england wouldnt give bunyan a license.. because they saw what he was preaching as heresy.
