Blame it on the recording. Obviously the camera is much closer to the crowd. What could they do?

yes that is it exactly. this was recorded with a digital camera (Kodak c613) sitting on the table. since it is not a directional microphone it picks u sound from both behind and in front of the camera.
i wish the people in the background would shut-up and sit down and listen

they were sitting down it just it was sitting on the edge of the table and was not even a video camera but a Kodak C613 digital camera.
