actually i found it possible to do co-op if you used the "Bonus Player" code (which is lost) instead of battle stages in Multiplayer it wouldn't take you to the selection it would take you to the Main game for co-op fun the code is actually lost a website showed it i tried it and it's fun cause you only need ONE action replay for it to work with both players BUT you have to be the leader in the VS Mode cause your the one with the code my Action Replay corrupted so i cannot show you proof :'(

This would have been wayyyyy better than how it was released. But obviously Nintendo thinks that a multiplayer game where Mario and Luigi collect stars is more fun than two player co-op in story mode.

you can get multiplayer by hack the game with actiion replay by switching out one stage of the vs mode with another stage you know.

what Nintendo could have done was make three options for game card or no game card like: without a game card just do Mario vs Luigi with a game card on both DS's do co-op and wifi connection when you go to wifi like 2 more options are there it's "help someone work there file up" or "wait for someone to help you work your file up" then it would search for someone to help you beat it or have wireless 2 DS's and do co-op on your or other person's file geesh Nintendo WHY JUST ONE VS OPTION MAN???!!!

This is base on a true story. i play this with my older brother when he has time and we have amazing. not to brag or anythinG but we were on the 1st stage for more than ONE hr,(1ST STAGE!!!)(would've been longer if his ds nvr turned off :/ like we are so pro we can nvr beat each other, especially if we both fight on the 5th stage.

Man, a co-op Mario side scroller would be awesome! One of Nintendo's problems is they they think the only multiplayer is a competetive one. Anyway, it's be pretty hard to design a level for both a single player and two player game. Maybe thats why they did it?

But there is three powerup spots. Imagine having three powerup spots in single player. Thus where the original new super mario brothers went to. And what happens if a player goes off screen, if one of them die?

I didn't really get what you meant with the powerup spots but as far for the ''what if a player dies'' question thats simple.

If one player dies the other just plays along.

Perhaps there would be checkpoints across the levels to revive your friend. or he gets revived next level.

And if both of you die? What about the map spaces? And what if a person got a mega mushroom? It would be all unclear. Plus the 1up system would be two one up spaces, along with two coin spaces. And you have to add more, the powerup space (inventory),Golden coins, and the level map.
