This is my favorite episode!! I love the Christmas spirit and it brings back some wonderful memories of my past Christmases and times when my family was snowed in and stuck together for at least a few weeks. Those were the best times of my life!!
what a wonderful episode. i know this sounds bad but i would have laughed if charles may have slipped or something when he got to the barn and said 'happy christmas'! sorry thats bad of me!!
@jessiib12 actually being snowed in and stuck with your family is one of the best things that can happen. That has happened to me several times and the best time we also had no power (luckily we have a wood stove). and it is so much fun to go sledding off the roof!! We've never had snow that high, but shoveling the walks made it as high as the garage roof sometimes. and it was so much fun to sled off the roof!!
This is my moms favorite episode of the entire series. It reminds her if her childhood. It my favorite now too. I always wanted Michael Landon to be my father growing up. I never really had a dad. I miss Michael Landon. Thank so much for posting
@orion2themax Hi and thanks for sharing. I think many LHOP fans wouldn't mine having Pa aka Michael Landon as a father. He was the ideal father as Pa Ingalls on LHOP. Michael Landon will forver be missed by his fans from around the world.
That snowfall is real, I remember being about 4-years-old going to check the cows with granddad in the blizzard; out in the country, all dark at night, no radio, lose a power line then put up the generator, and on good television reception days get Amarillo. Good stuff, life in the city is so much different; you people get snow plows and central heat & air--we would watch television in the non-air-conditioned living room, up to 100-degrees in the summer. Life has changed with modern things.
OMG SO MUCH SNOW!!! lovely episode loved it! everyone happy and joyful no bad things happened in this episode i loved it !!! I would be happy for my whole life just having a woman like caroline!!!
Geez last episode with Mary and she is barely in it! That is sad! They put such little emphasis on the real Ingalls children. They should've had a good part with Charles, Caroline, Mary, Laura, Carrie, and Grace.
I agree with you too. Carrie should talk about their first christmas on Plum Creek and Carrie buy a little star and I loves that scene where Carrie said, Happy Birthday, baby Jesus. Mary should tell about Blizzard (season 3).
I, too, grew up watching this show with my grandma! I definately agree with all of you! This was a wonderful show that networks should emulate these days! Did anyone notice that "Oh come All ye Faithful" was playing in the background of the show? That's practically the entire Gospel in that song! I'm suprised they aired in on National TV!
what an amazing episode... that's beautiful.. if only love was still the same as it used to be, and if only the true meaning of christmas is what it should be.....
I have to say that I have never been snowed in, but it does look like fun. :D If only more people could look at Christmas like they do in this episode. it really is about the loved ones you spend it with, not the presents you get. Though early, merry Christmas to all, peace on Earth, and good will toward men (and women).
This show epitomizes the warmth and wholesomeness that every family show should be. I began watching it 26 years ago with my grandmother, and now my children and I watch the episodes here, together. Thank you so much Emotional2000 for making that possible.
Wow, they really featured Carrie in this episode: 16 lines! That's about ten more than she had during the entire previous 50 episodes. It's too bad her role went back to the usual one-line-every-other episode after this. :(
Nice how they featured all four real Ingalls girls in this episode. I wish they had done more of this: featuring the real Ingalls children instead of the fake "adoptees". Sadly, I think this was Mary's last episode on the series. Nice send-off, at least.
I agree regarding Carrie... I never understood why she wasn't seen as significant as the other characters on the show... But you definetly make some valid points in your comment. Thanx for sharing... : )
Wow! I can't believe there was an episode of Little House I had never seen! Thanks so much for posting such a treasure, Emotional! I'm going to favourite it so I will remember to watch it again at Christmas!
Youtube user 'elvisobsessor' has it in 3 parts on his channel I believe.
In this episode the kids wait for Charles to come home after a trip. He's stuck because his wagon broke, and to kill time Caroline tells the kids how charles and her met.
My very dear Emotional! Thanks so much for this episode. I had never (gasp!) seen this compilation episode before. Thanks for posting. Was home during the holidays and had my own unforgetable Christmas. Thanks again!
You're welcome aimus888 and sorry for the late reply. My computer has been down. But I'm back with all new LHOP vids now. I am pleased to hear you had a happy holiday season. It was nice to read a comment from you again. Its been a long time...
Everytime I watch this episode I think that they will be snowed in together for quite some time. With no snowplows and snow that deep and the distance it is to town. I hope they have lots of chickens in that barn and that they are all good layers. Non the less it is a really good episode. Thanks again Emotional2000
I have never seen so much snow! They were buried in that house. Very heartwarming episode :-)

Snow that deep has to be some powdery! He should have dropped at least a few feet, even with those snow shoes.

Good point about the snow amount on the roof ..,, how would they go out if it keeps snowing?

I wonder how long it took for them to either shovel out or wait for it to melt! That would be too much togetherness for to long for me!

C'mon.... do they expect us to believe that the whole time they were snowed in.... nobody had to use the outhouse!! LoL ;)

This show, is all about christmas. Being a family and caring about each other, even if you don't have anything much.
I always knew santa didn't exist, but I pretended he did. I bet most children know deep down, that it's a lie. It's a good lie though.
