Meh, Chess Titans is a chess game for beginners. Chessmaster (on SNES) is much more difficult, though it was released 20 years ago. I could defeat a Lv.8 Chess Titans while watching porn, while a Lv.3 Chessmaster completely slaughters me. And it was only a Lv.3 out of 16 levels, while Chess Titan has only 10 levels.
@tekv2 Droidfish is an excellent program, and is indeed very difficult to beat. But Rybka is far superior and can beat it every game. I have tied with Droidfish several times, but never a checkmate. LOL and my rating is 2200+.

It plays like a rookie even at level 10. I beat it consistently on a i5 core 2 cpu 3000MHz. However I have no chance against Rybka or Houdini... obviously. Who does? If you wanna beat Titans on level 10 you have to play more carefully, patiently, make solid moves without taking unnecessary risks and of course no blunders. Once you make a blunder like lose a horse or bishop in two moves, then of course it's all over.
@ZeeMastermind I have found Chess Titans to be quite weak when you start with the Queen pawn. I generally prefer the way those game pans out when playing people; it feels more open.

Absolutely. Even a basic rookie should know that one. PAWN TO G6 bulwarks the attack. A back rank mate is possible much later with that pawn locking up G7, but that's a far cry from this garbage mate I used as a kid. :)
This was stopable earlier as well several times. Forking for that rook was pointless waste of moves when facing a mate attack.
AHH! this is terrible! as a chess player, when the computer made THIS STUPID MOVE at 3:30, i knew the game was over. sad stuff.

@ 4:30 the computer should have moved the pawn up not have taken it, and the computer should have supported the knight with his black bishop later on in the game
lol AI chess is programmed to lead in points of units, and doesnt care if they are active in battle or not. Like knight took out rook cause rook>knight while human are sure would avoid being mated. Nice video, never thaught of this way.
Nine times out of ten, Chess Titans on Level 10 plays the Sicilian Defence, not the Nimzowitsch Defence shown here. Besides, it's only rated 1800 tops. It's easy to beat.

Yeah, level 10 just takes forever to move because it calculates out each move, for several seconds. Even blatantly obvious moves and openings, unfortunately. I've beaten level 10 before, but never with something crazy like this. I don't know if I just play too passively or what, but I didn't think that this sort of quick attack would work on it.

Chess of titans isnt a good programe for chess players. only for begginers. I would suggest getting rybka. It helps you a lot finding new lines in an opening and getting better.

This worked for me on level 7. Must be buggy coding, but I guess it learns from its mistakes(?) because the computer trounced me in the second round when I tried the exact formula again.
Its like the computer became so distracted with planning to eat the pieces you had (like the rook) that it neglects basic defense... Its very human-like in this regard...
What if black doesn't respond to 1.e4 with Nc6, the Nimzowitch opening? I'm stuck on level 6 of this game. Computer always seems to play the best move.
i beat chess titans Lv.10 and that was about 2 years ago. i still dont know as much chess as you do (judging by your choice of words and understanding of openings). if i can beat it you certainly can.
@faasprabbit what he is doing is setting up a position that the computer will have trouble with in 10 moves its very difficult for a program to evaluate a position so far away this really isn't chess its a novelty a little quirk in the system hasn't anticipated look up Eduard Nemeth who consistently beats the strongest engines in the world and does it with wild crazy sacrifices to open up the H file.

This worked for me on level 7. Must be buggy coding, but I guess it learns from its mistakes(?) because the computer trounced me in the second round when I tried the exact formula again.

What if black doesn't respond to 1.e4 with Nc6, the Nimzowitch opening? I'm stuck on level 6 of this game. Computer always seems to play the best move.

i beat chess titans Lv.10 and that was about 2 years ago. i still dont know as much chess as you do (judging by your choice of words and understanding of openings). if i can beat it you certainly can.

@faasprabbit what he is doing is setting up a position that the computer will have trouble with in 10 moves its very difficult for a program to evaluate a position so far away this really isn't chess its a novelty a little quirk in the system hasn't anticipated look up Eduard Nemeth who consistently beats the strongest engines in the world and does it with wild crazy sacrifices to open up the H file.
