@Joyfulcheese Admittedly not a new idea, but I'm fond of Dethklok's take on it. There are quite a few bands, Pantera included, just as Torrent said, who incorporate the blues into their metal. Sometimes it's so subtle you can barely notice it, other times it's blatant and in your face, much this this song. Might be worth researching, if you're interested.
